Whee, ok...I'm going to treat this as a contest but instead of gold and fabulous pixels the prize is blarky art by yours truly.
See, Felly is getting way out of practice with drawing Gargoyles (see also my Fellanora and Allaidh galleries) and I figure a good fix might just be to ask you guys to submit Gargoyle idears and I'll sift through them and draw the best one(s), winning you signature stuff, design credit in my portfolio (if applicable) and all that jazz...and of course I win some practice.
Help me help you help me. 3nodding

How it works:
You can submit as many times as you like as long as each is in a separate post. For avatar conversions I require screencaptures or tektek avatars.
Start date for submissions: 12/16/06
Closing date for submissions: 1/15/07
Tentative "prize" bestowment: 3/2007
You have two options for submissions.
1. The Avatar to Gargoyle conversion.
This is fairly simple in nature. Just dress up your avatar (or use tektek) and post a screencap here. You can add details such as skin color changes, where spikes go and all that fun stuff. You can be as simple or as detailed as you'd like.
2. Original Gargoyle ideas.
This'n can get complicated and is like filling out an entire commission form in its most complicated state. Simply, you can give me a list of colors and physical features.
Example: 16 year old male with short dark green hair, charcoal gray skin, yellow eyes, 3 tail spikes and bat wings.
(In the instance of the above--were it chosen--you'd get idea credit, I'd retain the basic rights to the gargoyle since I would do most of the designing, including costume.)
Example 2: Name: Senethra (Note: This would not be required. In the event of unnamed ideas I would post them as [Submitted by:]'s Gargoyle)
Gender: Female
Age: 20-25 human years
Height: 5' 9"
Weight/Build: Strong, curvaceous but not overly defined
Hair: Amber, silky (in truth it's curly but eh, I was on a roll w/that piccie), approx to middle of back
Skin: Smooth, true-to-medium-dark red
Eyes: Almond-shaped, amber
Facial structure: heart-shaped but not delicate, strong in the jaw, high cheekbones
Features: 4 ram's horns on head forward pair radiating in toward face, aft pair out behind ears, single knee and elbow spikes, pitchfork tail with scaled webbing (matches interior wings) no tattos or piercings
Clothing: Minimal, fantasy, brief loincloth and leather and steel chestplate with riveted straps (I'd potentially need more detail than this if accuracy was desired...and she wasn't my character.)
Weapons: (You get the idea.)
Jewelry: None
Wing Style/Appearance: Bat-dragon in nature, scaled on both the interior (maroon) and exterior (black) surfaces
Wing Hands: As bat, including "thumbs", no claws, no segmenting along fingers. Specifically two fingers and a thumb + an elbow separation.
Digits: 3 fingers+ thumb, 3 toes + hockspur. (Or for those familiar w/the series this is called: Standard. whee )
Other details: (This can include a bit of backstory or something about disposition. Every little bit helps when you're going for something really specific.)

(I took out the others but left this as it's essentially a rep of the work I can do at this stage. Most of the other digital stuff was in my "lineless" style which I'm finding VERY impossible with the optic mouse.)

1/12/06: Submissions close in 4 days (last day the 16th of this month.)
I'm really disappointed as to turnout here and where I thought this would be a really easy contest to break the ice maybe I was wrong. Maybe it's just too alien a concept for most of you. (But then again according to the poll only my two accounts and my two contestants have even SEEN this thread.)
Well...I'll give it another shot--not this type of contest again (not for awhile anyway if ever) but after the voting's begun for this one be on the lookout for a thread in the main forum asking for input on the next contest.
*snerk* I *just* noticed I forgot to link the image of Senethra in the form sample. Not that it mattered.

(PPS, why don't you just come over and read the other list. confused And anyway, A. it's probably not fair to submit stuff from my proj list for this and B. someday eventually I will draw Semiramis on my own.
Oh and C. Do you even remember who Semiramis is beyond that she's a Gargoyle of some flavor? *blinkblink*)
She is/was the healer and seeress of the largest clan of the five dominating your island...need I go on? This "entry" can be deleted if others find it unfair, no problem. +Grin.+

Proposed changes/explanations: wings are feathered and can be used as a cloak. Feathered wings attached to her ankles. a dagger inside each boot. ornate silver and gold bow and quiver with arrows feathered with same type of feathers as wings. Skin is very pale. hair is golden. On wrists are wrist guards (for the bow). Note: all clothing/weapons/jewelry should be one of gold, silver, blue, or a mix of two (i'll let you take license with this). *2nd place/honorable mention*

Gender: Choice
Colors: soft metallics as seen in parts of the Ilyna sample and there was another you'd done where the dress looked like liquid electrum (I don't remember her name but my memory sees the gargoyle as light purple, almost pink.)
Mood: Mix of Sabrina and Invitation from your requests gallery and Demonic Sample 1.
Theme: Fantasy/Moon
+Edit+ Found her. "Beauty" from your AF Digital Gallery.
