Actually, there is a new Miyazaki movie out. I don't think its through Studio Chilbli though. I bought it yesterday and it doesn't have the Studio Chibli insignia on the movie case.
The movie is based on the hit TV show "Lupin III". Its really good. I'll find the movie case and tell you the title later.

Oh, that one is "The Castle of Cagliostro." It was directed by Miyazaki, but it's not considered to be a Ghibli film due to the fact that it was made before the studio was created.
I believe MGM is distributing it in America...I don't know how long the DVD's been out, but probably recently; nausicaa.net was just talking about how people started seeing it in places like Wal-Mart and whatnot @_@

I own the DVD (Castle Cagliostro) and it very, very Hayao Miyazaki! There is no mistaking in the movie the character types and European landscapes that are his uniquely his style. biggrin I can't say that about the other Lupin films I've run across and that is why I don't own them. (Sorry, I have a terrible cold and my spelling and typin gare off today. sad

Well theres a few new films (3)..... Studio Ghibli only shows them in the actual Studio, or museum or... something...? I dont have much info 'cept they're pretty cool eek
As usual..... xd

No, there is to be a new film, and it wil be the last film that Hayao Miyazaki himself directs.
that's what I've heard.

According to Wikkipedia, three short films were shown at the Ghibli Museum the first one named:
Yadosagashi (Looking for a Home).
Mizugumo Onmon (Water Spider Monmon) is another of the 2005 film seen at the Ghibli Museum.
Other recent short films are:
Hoshi wo Katta Hi (The Day I Cropped/Harvested a Star) is a 2005 film produced by Studio Ghibli screen writter by Hayao Miyazaki based on a story by Naohisa Inoue.
Taneyamagahara no Yoru (The Night of Taneyamagahara) directed by Kazuo Oga in yet another short film produced by Studio Ghibli. DVD version released in Japan in July, 2006.

There is going to be a new movie called "Tales from Earthsea" coming out in the US this summer. I also think this will be the last one Hayao makes/directs.I also heard that his son will be helping him direct this film to prepare him for assuming direction of Studio Ghibli

I'm keeping this topic open because I do feel it would be useful to have it as a thread where people can go to when they're wondering if a new movie is coming out that I haven't put in the announcements.
HOWEVER, I have updated the "New Movies" section, as nausicaa.net has updated their info on Myazaki's latest project:Quote: Gake no ue no Ponyo" or "Ponyo On A Cliff" was now officially announced. It is scheduled to be ready on Summer of 2008.
