Pumpkin Scissors manga was licensed, but not sure by who. Ichigo 100% was licensed by Viz, and the Karin anime series was licensed by Geneon.

Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni was also licensed. again, not sure by who.

Hiugurashi no Naku Koro ni is going to be called "When They Cry" coming from Geneon.

Geneons been going pretty quick with this stuff lately.

Higurashi is one of the weirest series ever. not olny that, the whole series started with a series of horror doujin renai games. (renai means visual novel)

Actually, no so much renai. "Renai" basically taslates as "love" or "romance" so that means that it only applies to dating sims.

Aside from that, yeah, I mean, Higurashi started with the horror doujins that were sold at comiket about every six months and that got widely popular. The storyline got picked up for PS2 conversion, anime, and manga, in which people seem to love all. There's a total of six arcs in the anime and 8 arc of the visual novel. It seems that both the PS2 release and the anime were actually in the works before Higurashi was finished. To top all of this off Tasogare Fronteir , a fairly well known doujin game circle mage Higurashi Daybreak. They're also known for Eternal Fighter Zero and Immaterial and Missing Power.

When you look at things though, Higurashi's history isn't so different from something like Tsukihime.

one difference is that i think Tsukihime is known as THE MOST popular and most sold single-release of any doujin game ever. not too sure about the exact statistics, but that is what i heard. plus, Tsukihime is an h-game with such a deep storyline involving action, supernatural/horror, and romance. that is pretty unique for a doujin visual novel game.

Yeah, that's true. They didn't intend it to be that awesome in the begining though... technically, they just kind of ent crazy and turned out with a better product than they had hoped. XP I wish they would've used Nscripter instead of ONscripter though. XP

well, as many extreme otakus should know, Tsukihime was a doujin game, and that meant the product was released with that content becuz it was a fanwork that contained a lot of the things the creators wanted in their game. it wasnt meant to please the fans, it was only made for them to have fun while doing it.

BUT..... the fans also thought the work was really great becuz it was unique and uncommon, and.... better than the original doujin game.

as you should know, doujin games are fan-made parodies and originals that showed what the creators liked. people just happened to love what the creators loved.

Well, doujin's aren't necisarrily fan-made "parodies" so to speak. They just have to be unprofessional works, but yeah, obviously people would loveTsukihime because it's well, different, and different is good, but there's still those of us that hate the fact that there's no Satsuki ending. D:

well, i DID say parodies and originals. but the usual cases is that they are usually parodies for both the games and the doujinshi mangas. and yes, its all basically unprofessional fanwork.
