biggrin Greetings MSU operatives, followers, and members of the vulnerable public.
smile For those of you who may not know me, I am Archmage, Official Spellcaster Of The MSU and Local Administrator Of The Shadow Government's Magical Licensing Office (or MLO.)
I am also a lover of words and language in all it's forms. And those who have proven themselves able to use language to express themselves intelligently and captivatingly have earned my respect... as they should earn the respect of all those they come in contact with.
In this age of short attention sp-- sweatdrop what was I saying...
declarations of being right or correct with no logic, intelligence or evidence to back it up ( scream I hate you because you're a Libra, Cancer's are inherently better people...)
or just good old fashioned Net-tard-speak ( domokun domokun OMGOMG YOU SOULD LIEK TOTLY BE ONE MIY FASE CUZ SOMTIMES I DON SUCK COC... BUT USULY I DOOOOO! DOMO DOMO DOMO!!!!!!111!ELEVEN!1 domokun domokun ...)
... a person who is clever, intelligent, witty, intellectual, or just plain funny should be recognized as such. This is what I've always felt, so, long ago, I began the tradition of Archmage's Quote Of The Week.
3nodding Almost since I first joined Gaia, every week, I've quoted what I thought was the most memorable thing I'd heard said by another person that week in my sig. Over time, several people have asked me if there were any way that I could find a place to archive my Quotes Of The Week, so that they would not be lost to the fog of time and forgotten. That way, they said, we could continue to enjoy the Quotes and they would be able to continue to spark the interesting or funny conversations that they often do. I heartily agreed, but it was not until now, in this exciting time where we have procured our own guild that I was able to do so.
sad Sadly, hundreds of Quotes Of The Week have been lost to time and forgetfulness. But from this point forward, the Quotes shall not be lost again.
I declare almost any type of speech Quoteworthy if it impresses me enough in one way or another. xd I will not deny that the vast majority of the Quotes in the past have been things that simply made me crack up laughing. People often do not realize that being truly funny is a rare gift and is very impressive. But that is not to say that I do not Quote things that are deeper, serious or simply different. If you say something meaningful, intellectual, or particularly insightful, I will honor it with a Quote with great pleasure.
In the past, I've given an honorarium of 100 gold to anyone who earns a spot on Quote Of The Week, but due to an overabundance of unpleasant issues with the Bank Of Gaia, I must unfortunately announce that this tradition is no longer strictly viable.

However, if you make Quote Of The Week, and you really, really feel you deserve a monetary reward of some kind, feel free to talk to me about it, and I'll see what I can do.
Ahem, anyway... I change my Quotes every week at the beginning of the week... that is to say Sunday, and the Quotes will be labeled in the archive under the date for the Sunday that I entered them in. Every Sunday, I will take into account all the worthy things I've heard said that week, enter the winner into my sig and archive it here on the Quote Board. Also, in the event that there is more than one Quote worthy of the honor in a given week and I decide I just can't let any one of them fall by the wayside, I may choose one and save the rest to be used in weeks when the intellectual pickins' are a little slimmer.
Now that I've got the Quote Board up and running, feel free to post in it anytime you want, if you wish to respond to a Quote someone said, carry on a discussion sparked by one... or simply laugh your a** off at something funny, and ask what the story behind it was.
Oh and one last thing. sweatdrop I've never once had this happen, and I don't imagine it will, but on the off chance I Quote something you've said, and you decide you don't wish to have the honor of being Quoted, for whatever reason, let me know, and I will remove your Quote from my sig and the Board posthaste.

I have no record of that number. Why do you ask?
