Rametep!!!

"You're sitting in a room with an all-southern view. Suddenly, a bear walks past the window. What colour is the bear?"
"Red. The bear is red."
"Why on earth would the bear be red?!"
"The southern sun is incredibly hot. The bear would be terribly burnt!"
"...Watson, that is the most ridiculous answer I've ever heard!"

I love that movie so much. It is totally not canon, but it is still teh bomb.

"So that's where I dropped my chemistry experiment; into your tea!"

Discuss, adore, criticise.

I was really annoyed that they gave Watson such a silly and trivial nightmare when the others were getting such horrible halucinations. Like cartoon food is gonna scare him to death. evil
Once again, Watson is reduced to the comic relief.

Dear Lord, I adore that movie. heart

"Sherlock Holmes, jealous? My dear, that word does not enter my vocabulary."
"Neither does punctuality."

--->One of my favorite quotes, besides the one already stated above. I love the relationship between Elizabeth and Holmes, and the brief look into Holmes' past. Yes, they made Watson a bumbler yet again, but the movie itself was amazing.

It's also a very early example of weaving CGI right into a movie as a character, not just an effect. The stained glass window knight that jumps down from his window and kills the priest is way cool. xd

That was dang sweet. I liked the possessed coat rack...

And of course Dudley was awesome.

I thought Watson's hallucination was funny. And you'll notice that he wasn't actually scared to death of the cartoon food. Obviously, he was a little taken aback... That wasn't really an appropriate place for comic relief, though.

My point exactly. Even if he hasn't had traumatic things happen to him yet like the other two had, even if he worries about overeating deep down, he should have had a much worse nightmare than that. It was downright cringe-inducing. gonk

I sort of figured that something had gone wrong, because, as you pointed out, the others were terrifying, but his wasn't. His was just weird.

Loved that movie. My dad and I are trying to find it somewhere 'cuz he's never seen it. I love how Sherlock is so suave and pimpish, even so young XD It takes a special sort of dude to make that nose look okay.

I've got it on VHS but I haven't seen it on DVD yet.

Pimpish? *snarf* In the extreme! Though the actor has in recent years become a somewhat paunchy man, and the nose no longer looks Sherlockian. It's more of a proboscis now.

Of course, I resented that. stare French pastries are hardly the stuff of nightmares.

Doctor! Of course we're not saying that YSH is canon at all... It's just a good time.

Oh, I remember that movie. I have not seen it recently, so I don't have any quotes fresh in my mind, but I liked it.

I do agree with you all, that Watson was (yet again) portrayed as the chubby idiot.

But as a story itself, it was fine. It was a neat idea. Holmes was played well.

I should play that movie again, soon, if only to refresh my memory.

I've found that YSH is a very good tool for converting middle school students to Holmesianism. They identify with the characters better and are usually eager to see more after the movie. Even elementary students enjoy it. I showed it to my younger sister, who is now halfway through the Canon at eight years of age.

So however chubby and idiotic their portrayal of Watson was, the movie does have some redeeming qualities.

I've got to say, though, that it is absolutely necessary to watch it through the credits and all the way to the end for a bit of a shocker. <3
