This is the kind of car I was in today! My friend is operating the Google Streetview car for the Google Earth project in Massachusetts. It rained today, so he was not able to take the pictures for which the vehicle is designed. He stopped by to visit and I took a ride in it with him to go to the bank.
The car is outfitted with a computer and twenty-five 750 gigabyte hard-drives that store the 100 JPEGs taken panoramically each mile the car is in motion! It also has a GPS system with all the maps he needs to follow so that he can get images of every street in his assigned area. The technology is not very advanced, but I have never seen so many high-memory hard drives in one machine. It was a very strange car to ride in, so much so that I had to be in the back seat because monitors block the front seat so the driver can map places out and use the computer interface.
Other than that, nothing really exciting happened today. I stayed home most of the day and went for a ride with my friend, and we went to a pizzeria. I did not eat anything though, I opted to make myself lunch at home.
I suppose I should end this here, because I do not have anything more interesting to say than I did about the very strangly outfitted car I was in today. Good night!
