No, it was not a date. I ate with a whole bunch of people tonight, but one of them is a professor. He is kind of cute, but it is apparent that he likes Asians. I will not explain why this is apparent, the intricacies of his Asian infatuations and flirtations are numerous; maybe you had to be there to get it, so take it on faith.
We went to an Asian food restaurant (not surprising, read above) and I met a whole bunch of internationals, mostly graduate students. I had a great time, but then they went to a liquor bar downtown, so I could not go with them. That is fine, I am growing tired this evening.
I feel popular with the faculty and graduate assistants, they always want to talk about language and culture in Iceland and Scandanavia. My knowledge of the mythology must make me stand out, since there are several other Scandanavians in the department whom I have met, and I do not know if I have even met them all yet! Before you say it might be because they are attracted to me, let me say that asking me to discuss proto-Germanic morphology with them is not anyone's idea of flirting, do you think? At least I hope it is not, since I would rather have the attention for knowing things and having good conversations than for simply looking pretty. If it is for both, all the better!
Have a good night, I shall sleep now.
