Yay, I just graduated yesterday- it was a miracle we even made it frankly.
First- when I got home from school on Thursday, the electricity was out by 4, and only our SIDE of a BLOCK was affected (aka, four houses, including ours) we later learn that this was caused by a blown transformer that serviced our houses. We decide that it can't possibly last for too long and try to sleep through the lack of air conditioning. Not only was it impossible, it made everyone irate and emotional the next day, as I will explain.
So my stepdad gets up to go to work, mom decides to make it a three day weekend since she didn't get any sleep last night. Next thing I know, she's yelling and screeching at my stepdad as if the power outage is because of him and starts packing in a sweat-induced fury. I am very scared at this point, my mom broke up with one husband and I assumed that she could do it again, which shows you just how angry she was. To boot, I was never exactly sure if she put me on the victim side of the fence (with her), or the blame side (with my stepdad).
Eventually, after checking into a hotel with air conditioning, she calms down and allows my stepdad into her presence. It was really tense- especially because we knew that the electric company was not going to be very quick about fixing the problem. It was two days before the power was back on.
Saturday morning, the day of graduation, we finally get back home. My stepdad and I are running errands when Hime-chan, whom I invited to my graduation, calls me. Her mother, having mandated that only she would drive Hime-chan the entire 1 hour drive had made plans with one of her boyfriends and totally forgotten about the affair. Having found out her error, she then decreed that Hime-chan could not drive herself, and that she could not come. After much stomping of feet, cell minutes, and almost-tears, we arranged for my stepdad to pick up Hime-chan.
Is this usually how graduations occur? In the midst of chaos?
Side notes- my profile info is updated, so im a year older now, yay!
