Corona was his name. He was 17 years old, a year younger than me. His favored weapon was a spear his foster mother had given to him. He didn't know his true birthdate, but his tribe celebrated it on the third day of Summer. His first memory was that of a curly haired silluette. He liked pie. Chocolate, to be exact. I muddled through these memories as I usually had to when searching someone's mind; Old memories, new memories, likes, dislikes, thoughts, desires, many things until I found whatever I was looking for. Then I found it. A large memory, full of hurt and anguish and rage and revenge. Before I describe it, I need to give a background of Corona. Corona was a male Amazon. Rare, but not unpossible in modern times. Most Amazon tribes nowadays are composed mainly of women with men as slaves, but Corona's tribe wasn't like that. In fact, the tribe Corona, or "Cor," was part of despised men with a passion. Any men they met were raped, tortured, and killed. One particular year, however, there was a famine and the tribe had to raid villages and farms for food. During one raid at a farm they had not raided yet, the family there fought back. All were slaughtered, including the women, but while leaving, the Queen, who had joined them, happened upon a crying bundle that had been hidden in a bush far from the fight. Curious, the woman opened it to find a baby inside of it, not more than a few months old. The Queen, named Amelia, was overcome with a feeling she had never felt before-- Maternal Instinct. Calming the child, she placed it in her shield and strapped it to her back. When she returned to the village, she went to her throne room and checked to make sure the child was safe, only to discover that the child she had saved was male. Unsure of what to do, she called upon her closest advisors and friends to figure out what to do with the child. None of them could decide what to do either. Their instict was telling them to raise the child, but their beliefs were telling them to kill the infant. Finally, the group decided. Not only the Queen, but the whole tribe would raise the child, teaching him the ways of the Amazon, that although powerful, men were essentially weaker than women in many aspects. Due to this, the child grew strong and powerful, quick and agile, but had a respect for women as powerful as he was. Because of him, the tribe also came to realize that not all men were inherrently cruel and evil and that, if raised with respect, would respond with respect. His memory began a few days before we entered the forest, around when the Tower of Gambino had fallen. ~*~*~*~*~*~ I sighed, snuggling closer to her. She smiled and ran her fingers through my hair, and I purred slightly as a responce. Tipping my head up to face her, she gained a serious look in her eyes. "Corona," She said, "The others must never know of us. The tribe may love you, but if they-" "Found out I was in love with the daughter of the priestess," I finished for her, "I would be beheadded. I know. I know. But still, Merina, I love you and will love you for as long as I live." She smiled again, a sight that always melted my heart and made me filled with happiness simultaniously. "I love you too, Cor. I love you more than I could love any other man." "But Merina," I said, donning a bewildered face, "I am the only man that you do not despise!" With this, she laughed and pushed me off of the tree branch we had been on for a long time. Fortunatley, there was another branch able to support my light weight nearby and I flipped onto it, glaring up at her, smiling lecherously. "Oh. I see how it is. You push me off of the tree, eh? No more of this," I pointed downwards at my fur skirt which was my only means of modesty, "For you. Ever." "Well," She said, gaining the glint of the huntress in her eyes which made me recoil slightly, "That, my love, has never belonged to you. That has always belonged to me," She lunged at me, "To ME!" And the chase was on. Grabbing my spear from where I had placed it, I began using it to vault my way through the trees, gaining higher and higher until I was above the treeline and-- Stopped dead in my tracks. Merina popped out of the treeline on the top of a tree in front of me, preparing to lunge when she realized I hadn't even aknowleged her. In truth, I was staring past her. She turned around slowly and saw what I had. Creatures. Transparant creatures flying around, screaming. Flying around a burning part of the forest. Around where the city was. The wind suddenly changed to blow towards us and we smelled it. Smoke. Blood. Death. Snapping back around, Merina gripped her own spear, anger seething off of her as much as it was me. We were off in a second, running across the treetops. When we got to the city, we were immediatley attacked by the ghostly creatures which we were able to finish off quickly. Surveying the area while still battling off the monsters, Merina spotted her mother and Queen Amelia, my mother, fending off a large group of the monsters with the more skilled Amazons to protect the children who were being sheltered in a hollowed out tree. Children that included the second male to the tribe, my brother Kinal. Merina and I rushed over to them, Merina casting Vine on a few monsters that we couldn't harm with our spears or fists. When we finally reached them, most of the sisters had fallen, including Merina's mother. Enraged, Merina attacked relentlessly, slaughtering many of the creatures, some of whom now had the ability to spew fire. Suddenly, the attack stopped and a small girl weilding a beautiful staff and a man shrouded in darkness appeared. The girl, whos eyes were glowing red and who's face had no expression, performed an odd dance, magics, both light and dark, surrounding her until she touched the ground ever so lightly with the tip of her staff. A pentagram suddenly appeared and an extremely large claw burst out of it, followed by another until, crawling out of the glowing portal was a snakelike demon woman with two snakes for hair, markings on her face, and long, swordlike appendages coming out of her arms. The five of us remaining assumed fighting stances as the demon lunged at us, immediately killing two of the others, leaving just the Queen, Merina, and myself. Merina, however, suddenly grabbed me with a summoned vine and threw me far away, into a bush. Dazed, I still made out Merina trying to conjure up more vines to throw the other children to safety, but the demon stabbed her through the middle before she could. I saw her mouth the words "I'll always love you" before I blacked out. When I awoke, it was dark and the only signs of life were the creatures patroling the area and a light on in the castle, signifying that the man and the girl where there. I crept to where Merina had fallen, horrified to find that her corpse was still there, eyes open in unending shock. Behind her lay the massacred bodies of the children. My mother Amelia was nowhere to be found. Crying, I carried the bodies away from there and created a ceremonial pyre, burning all of them, mourning them. I then went to the river, taking the pebbles and sand from the bottom of the stream, rubbing them over my skin, trying to get the scent of death and blood off of me when it suddenly hit me. Unless my mother was alive, I was the last of our tribe. More than a hundred women and children, all dead. I broke down, crying, feeling the water washing around me. I then vowed that I would have my revenge, but until then, I needed to rest. No one would stand in my way from killing the man. The girl had done nothing; it was obvious she had been posessed by the man some how. It was the man who would pay for the deaths and only the man and I, not anyone else, would be the one to do the deed. ~*~*~*~
The memory ended and I found that I had been crying during the whole thing, as had he. A looked at the others who had been getting a broadcast from my thoughts. Kira, Cor's spear laying in front of her, was sobbing into her hands on her knees. Hikaru had an immense look of grief on her face, a soft wind blowing around her. Neko... Neko had an intense look of rage on her face, the whites of her eyes turning red as they did when she started powering up. "All right, Cor," She yelled suddenly, making all of us jump, "Get up. You've got some Karma to dish out and we're coming along for the ride."
No sooner than five minutes later, the five of us were off towards the Amazon Castle, hearts burning with anger.
