I could tell that some kids stopped their conversations to glance over at why I was shouting. Kaleb muttered something under his breath and stood up. “You want to fight me Grey?” “Why should I need to fight you? You always run away from a fight.” That got Kaleb pissed. He ran towards me and tackled us both to the ground. We rolled around on the ground, not one of us could pin each other on the ground for too long. I punched him a few times and he kicked at my legs and ripped at my hair. I lifted him off me and jumped off quick to avoid his foot going into my face. A whole crowd formed around and was chanting “fight fight fight fight!” I sweep-kicked him and started to kick him. Then I felt strong arms grab mine and hold me back. I looked over my shoulder and saw Danny was holding me back. I looked back at Kaleb and Andy was holding him back. We snarled and growled at each other. “GOT TO HELL GREY!” “AGE BEFORE BEAUTY, a*****e!” “WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?!” The crowed diminished and Principal Ruth walked towards us. She was a tall woman with long golden blond hair and emerald green eyes. She stopped in front of us and tapped her foot. I smiled sheepishly and Kaleb looked away embarrassed. After all... … That was his mom. She pointed towards her office. “Office. Both of you. Now.” “Yes ma’am…” We walked into the building; I looked back and saw Lynn talking with Lenna. They both looked worried. I sagged my head and kept walking with Mrs. Ruth behind us.
“What were you two thinking? Kaleb, I’m very disappointed in you, but Arron…” she sighed. “I don’t want to have to call your brother.” I stood up and sharply jabbed my finger at Kaleb. “THIS WOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED IF HE WASN’T FORCING HIMSELF ON A GIRL!” Ember’s eyes widened. He sharply looked at Kaleb. “You were forcing yourself on a girl?!” “No! I wasn’t trying to!” He glared at me and rose up quickly and now it was his turn to point. “IT WOULDN’T HAVE GOTTEN OUT OF HAND IF YOU DIDN’T THROW THE FIRST PUNCH!” “SHE ASKED ME TO TELL YOU TO STOP AND I DID! YOU STARTED IT BY CORNERING HER AND TRYING TO FORCE HER TO DO SOMETHING SHE DIDN’T WANT TO DO!” We started to snarl at each other. “BOTH OF YOU STOP IT!” We looked at Ember and her eyes turned an unattractive golden yellow with slits. We quieted down. She sighed and her eyes turned back to their normal color. “I know both of you are having trouble adjusting to your in-coming powers, and falling for girls isn’t helping. But whether you like being half vampires or not, your still going to get punished. After school detention, you will clean the whole cafeteria and the outside lunch area. Got it? And you’re doing this together.” “Yes ma’am…” “And you,” she looked long and hard at her son. “We’ll talk about this later.” “Yes mom…” Once we closed the door we walked our separate ways to our assigned classes without another word to each other. I walked into my study hall. Mr. B looked up from his book and smiled at me. He’s also my English teacher. “Hello Arron. Please take your seat.” I made a small smile and started to head toward the back. I looked over and saw Vlad at the back round table and sat next to him. He was doodling in his math note book. (Wow, for once he’s not doing his algebra homework.) “Hey.” I said as I got his attention. “Sup?” He said too nonchalantly as he put his arm over whatever he was drawing. I smirked. “So what are you drawing?” “N-Nothing! Nothing at all!” He whispered as he started to close his book. I swiped it and opened to the page. “Ha! So that’s what you were drawing!” I whispered as I looked at his drawing. “Arron!” He hissed. “Give me my note book back! I have algebra homework to start!” “You sure it’s not so you can draw pictures of you and my cousin making out?” I coolly whispered as I held up the note book. His cheeks turned pink. I chuckled as he swiped the book back from me and threw it in his back pack. “S-Shut up!” He hissed through gritted teeth. “By the way, what do you have to do for ‘school services’?” He air quoted school services. It’s a nicer phrase then saying; what do you have to do for detention? I sighed and started to rummage through my book bag. “I got to clean the cafeteria and the outside court with Kaleb.” “Ouch.” “Yeah, it sucks…especially since he’s probably still mad at me punching him and all.” “Well, it was kind of stupid of you to start a fight in the middle of school. What got you so ticked?” “Kaleb was forcing himself on Lynn…” Vlad made kissy noises. “Aw! Arron’s in wuv with Lynnie!” I covered his mouth quick. “Shut up moron!” I hissed. “Don’t scream it! I don’t need any of the other girls in the school that like me make life miserable for Lynn. She doesn’t need that.” “Fine fine. I promise I’ll keep my mouth shut.” “Good. I can only trust you with these things.” “Huh? Why?” “Kaleb’s a loud mouth and the two big idiots can’t ever possibly keep anything hidden.” Vlad chuckled. “I kind of figured.” The bell rang and it was time for gym.
“GRAY! WHY AREN’T YOU IN YOUR GYM CLOTHES?!” “Cause I left them at home again.” Coach Dean sighed and gave me a step watch. I attached it to my pants and started walking around the field. Hey, at least it gave me credit. I hate gym and I didn’t feel like doing anything today. I looked over and saw that Lynn was talking to Coach. He gave her a step watch and told her to walk around the field. She looked over at me and ran up next to me. “Hi Arron.” My heart squeezed. “Hey Lynn. What’s up?” I looked down at our feet to look at us walk together in sync. It made me smile. “I just wanted to say thanks for standing up to me from that Kaleb guy. But you didn’t have to start a fight. Are you okay?” “Yeah, I’m alright,” I looked over my shoulder and saw a lot of girls walking behind us, listening carefully. “I just have cleaning duty after school with him.” “Oh! I’m sorry you got in trouble!” “Why are you sorry? You didn’t do anything!” “Yes I did! If I waited till afterschool then you probably wouldn’t have gotten in trouble!” I laughed and looked at her, trying to ignore the other girls that were listening in. “I’m glad that you came to me.” She blushed and looked at the grass. “R-really…?” “Yeah…” I was about to blurt out I care about you a lot, will you go out with me? But then my other half of me slapped myself silly and said Bad Arron! No! You have to officially be friends with her first! Then you gradually make your move… “…about tomorrow you go over my house…?” “Huh? What?” Lynn rolled her eyes. “I asked you if you would want to go over my house tomorrow.” “Uh, sure! Sure I’ll go…” Lynn smiled. I just wanted to take her in my arms and hold her forever. “Okay.” The final bell rang for the day. She waved goodbye as I felt myself look like a retard and wave sheepishly back as she disappeared through the double doors. Had the day gone by so fast already? I wondered to myself. I sighed and walked in the double doors, followed by giggling girls. They started to play with the routes of my hair and try to flirt with me. I ignored them and continued walking into the building.
