Peculiar Desperate Longing

You’d think that a man with a kingdom under his thumb would have everything he wants
But sometimes it’s the small things that people desire the most
What that king longed for was a peach
His wife had a peach
A beautiful peach it certainly was
In the sun it shone a lovely orange
She had received it from her maid a few days ago
There was nothing he lusted for more than that peach
It was such a foolish longing but he couldn’t help it
One day his wife had gone out
He quietly wandered into her room
The peach was there
Pure beauty in edible form
He took it in his hands
He hesitantly glanced to and fro
Without thinking he took a bite
It tasted more beautiful than it looked…
When his wife returned home she noticed the absence of the peach
She sobbed bitterly to her husband
He felt guilty and wished to soothe her
She explained her pain
It was a gift to him…
I dedicated it to Erika because she told me to write about peaches. I also was a little hungry when I wrote it. He he razz
