I was watching Alice in Wonderland, the Disney version we know and love, and I got to the part with that funny yet angry hookah-smoking Caterpillar who constantly repeats to Alice, "WHO R U?"
And I thought, good freaking question, Mr. Caterpillar: just who am I?
I paused the movie and thought long and hard and I realized:
I'm so many different people, I can't answer.
Around my friends, I'm a fun-loving, constantly crazy, abysmally energetic diabetic.
Around my family, I'm nothing short of an egotistical lunatic.
Around society, I'm a respectful, hardworking, nice, member of the exclusive club we call 'society'.
Plus many more... But who am I really? Who is Me? WHO R ME?
Well, I didn't quite remember the movie, so I thought "I bet the Caterpillar has an answer!"
So I turn it back on, he and Alice go through a rhyme about Crocodiles, he turns into a butterfly, and screams about the local fungus and their herbal properties.
I turned it off.
Maybe in life, all we need is a couple of vowels, a good rhyme, and 'Shrooms.
Maybe we all get something from Alice's adventures.
I sure as heck didn't.
