KT Tunstall is a one-woman band. Surprising? Yes, especially after you listen to "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree" and hear all those instruments in the background. But it sure does elevate my respect for her. I won't name names, but there are some recording artists that can't even sing while standing still, but KT can sing while playing the guitar, tambourine (with her foot), and switching levers around on her looping machine (with the foot that is not preoccupied with the tambourine). That, to me, is talent.

KT's songs often have lyrics that are hard to understand - how often do you have a black horse wanting to marry you under a cherry tree, after all? - but that just adds to the incredible artistry that's already on there. Highlights on this album (though all the tracks are wonderful, none of them are just "filler" wink include "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree," "Suddenly I See", and "Heal Over".
