Chapter Three.
Terri and Vsili were sitting in their tent, drinking vodka and telling eachother about the places they had come from. Vsili had come from a small fishing village on the northwest coast. His village had been attacked by weak vampires, his village was one of the first to report them to Moscow. Terri didn't have much of a story to tell. He was the equivilent of an American farm-boy. Terri and his village hadn't heard about the vampires until the Commissars came to his village and drafted all the able bodied men and women to the military. Vsili and Terri had started talking about the vampires they had witness earlier that day. They were very lucky they weren't spotted but it must have been so cold the damned things couldn't smell right. Terri took a long drink form his flask and then reached into his pack on the ground and pulled out a pack of cards then reached for a pack of cigarettes. He lay the cards on the table then packed his cigarettes. Vsili took the cards and shuffled them then asked, "What game are we playing?" Terri shrugged. "You chose." He said after taking hsi drink. They pasued, soemthing was moving outside. A tent flap opened and they heard soft foot falls walking by their tent. Terri and Vsili still talking though both of them were still concious of the sounds. Terri coughed and Vsili stopped talking. The sounds were gone. Vsili then turned off the lamp in their tent and they left everythgin alone. They both grabbed their pistols and knives then opened their tent flap. The land was covered in snow and coloured blue by the moonlight. The sky sparkled with snow falling from a clear sky. It seemed very ethereal but things like this happened all the time for some reason. Terri stepped outside beside Vsili and looked around the side of their tent to the back of it. There were tracks in the snow. The tracks lead east from their camp. This was very clever for someone to sneak out. By the time morning came around no one would notice the foot prints. Terri and Vsili both set off to follow to tracks. They made a wide circle to them, moving in a kind of leap frog motion, one would walk up, see nothign then signal the toher ahead, all the while checking to the sides, front and back. They came by a small tower, almost mideval by it's looks. Built with stone and wood, it looked like one of the grainaries built in Terri's village. As they neared it, they saw the tracks more distinctly. They heard sounds coming from inside the tower. It sounded like a cutting or tearing of some kind then a splash on the ground. Almost as soon as it was done they heard a creaking sound then a flash darted off to the west, then another. Both Terri and Vsili looked to the west with thier pistols raised. There weren't any more sounds coming from inside the tower. They put thier pistols in thier holsters then took out their knives and crept up to the side of the tower, looking for a way in. They found it, a door was wide open. Vsili slowly stepped out and checked for any threats, they couldn't see inside from this angle. Vsili looked back at Terri and took out his pistol. Vsili motioned Terri to go around the toher side. Terri turned around and started slowly moving to the toher side of the tower. He neared the doors and then slid up on the wall to the open door. He held out his knife to take a look inside with the reflection of his knife. He couldn't see anything. He tapped the wall three times and Vsili rounded the corner with his pistola dn Terri ran inside, sticking close to the wall and keeping his knife ready. Checking the right and the left first he motioned Vsili inside. They couldn't see anything above them. Terri slowly walked to the center and stepped on something on the ground.
When Terri looked down he was filled with fear. Two nude soldiers lay on the ground, thier insides ripped out and spilled on the ground. All around them were designes in blood. Vsili started shaking and looked around. Vsili became pale and backed into the wall. There was something moving outside the tower. Terri crept up to the door. Vsili immeadiatley knelt down and held his pistol ready for anything that might come through the door. Something was trotting around the toher side. Whatever it was was moving in the same way as Terri and Vsili did. Terri then saw it. It came around the corner and he was immeadiatley met with a wall of fur and fangs. Two wolves were stalking them all the way here. Terri was hit hard to the ground and his left arm felt like it was twisting off his body. The wolf was trying to tear his arm off. Terri gripped the knife and gave the wolf one solid stabbed to the head. It stopped and fell to the side motionless. As soon as it dropped another wolf jumped in and bit Vsili on the neck. He tackled Vsili to the ground and pulled up hard. There was a sick cracking sound and The wolf looked back at terri, his mouth red with blood. The fur on it's back stood straight up. It was glaing and started to move to the left. Making small moved around nearer to Terri. Terri started to move left as well, trying to keep as much space between them as possible. His left arm felt numb and useless, he could only use his right, this put him at a horrible disadvantage. The wolf saw this barked then jumped at Terri. Terri didn't have enough time to react. He was pinned up against the wall, the wolf bit into his armour and started trying to tear it off but it didn't work and it tried jumped back. This only put it backa few inches and it dragged Terri to his knees. His head fell foreward and he hit his head on the back of the wolf. He shook his head immeadiatley and tried pushing the wolf away but it was still latched to his armour. Terri almost forgot about the knife in his hand. He swung it up to the wolfs' belly and tore right with it. The beasts guts spilled out onto the ground. They steamed and filled the room with a rich, horrid scent. The wolf yelped and slowly started to die. Terri pulled the knife free form it's skin and slammed the knife on it's head. The thing died instantly. The smell in the room made Terri sick to his stomach. He shook his head and swallowed hard then threw up on the ground to his right. He just stayed in his place for a few moments, trying to collect himself. The wolf was still attached to him. At first Terri tried pulling it off but it didn't work. Then he pulled up the lips and looked at it's teeth the best he could. They were dug deep into the armour. Terri then looked at his knife and poked at the gums. He started to push the blade above each dug in tooth and started popping them out one by one until the wolf finally fell to the ground. With the end of the knife he started hitting the teeth out of his armour. A few of them chipped off and still remained in his chest plate but he didn't much care right now. Terri shakily walked to Vsili's corpse. His neck was snapped and open. His jugglar was peirced and one of the bones in his neck crushed. He took antoher back at the other corpses in the room. He looked at the design to see who had lured them into such a trap. As he studied the markings he saw it. It was the mark of The Scarlet Crusaders.
