Chapter Four
Stukov was inflamed with rage once he heard Terri's report on what happened last night. Stukov started to get all of his troops ready for battle. Satillite images told them of a vampire base came nearby them. Stukov wanted these soldiers to mount an assault on the damned things. Terri and one other soldier would eb sent to this base immeadiatley after they were suited to go. Terri was given light armour, a small sub machine gun and a pair of goggles that could shift between kinds of vision, heat, night, and EPV. Terri was just putting his goggles on his head when the other soldier came in to his tent. "We have to leave now, put your goggles on along the way and grab your gun." The soldier said. Terri held his gogles in one hand and took the gun in his other. They started to make thier way west of came, there were some large icy hills they had to climb up and recon the enemy position. The other soldiers, named Jacob, was leading Terri through all of this. Once they were at the foot of the closest hill they crouched down and went over a plan. Terri was to go up the left of the hill and get readings of any electrical equipment, main stations ofr troops and check the way they patrolled. Jacob would go up thr right and check for any communications networks, guards and try to spot the leader. If either of them were spotted they were to run back to camp, entering from the couth end. If they tried to get in from the front, east or west they would be shot. Terri started his way up the hill. The heavy snow cover made it difficult to know where he was stepping, more than three times he stepped ito a large hole. As he neared the top of the hill, checking left and right he slowly crawled to the point where he thought he could see the enemy camp. However once he could see where it leveled off, there was a long strip of land before him. He got and slowly made his way forward. As he walked he started seeing small shrubs and things he could use as cover as he reconed the camp. He crouched and made his way through the bushes As he started moving he heard something crunch beneath his foot. That seemed to loud to be a stick so he moved his foot, looking left and right he reched down and picked up something. Holding it up he saw the bones of a hand. He dropped it and shook his head then moved forward more. Some unlucky sap must have been spotted going through this area. This thought made him stop. Suppose a different battalion came through here and was defeated? He didn't dwell on the thought too long and kept moving. He came a clearing and looked around. The land went out about two feet and dropped off. Terri layed downa nd crawled foreward to get a look. At the base of the hill lay the camp. Terri put his goggles over his eyes and looked down, switching the vision from EPV to heat he looked around. There were hundreds of them. More than he coudl see without the goggles. At least five or more were in each tent. There was a group of vampires moving down the middle of the camp, leading to a large tent which seemed more like a fort. The vampire in the middle had two longswords on it's back and wore a kind of coat that made him look like an old time noble or merchant. The vampire also wore a kind of twisted armour with large barbs attached to it, one of the barbs on each shoulder plate had a skull or two on them. The vampires around it were long scarves around their necks and carried rifles and had swords at thier sides. Once they got inside the tent Terri got back to work. He had to scan for electrical devices. He turned his goggles to EVP and looked around. There weren't any. Switching from that to heat again he looked for any main troop placement. There troops dug in around the camp in trenches, others were inside the camp. A large tent housed the leader and another housed a few troops with a few coming and going from it. From what Terri could see, they had no patrols. He continued his recon until a small beep in his ear scattered his concentration. He clicked a small button in his left arm and heard Jacob start to speak. "Terri, move down to the foot of the hill. I have all the information need and you should be done by now anyway. See you there." Terri clicked the button again and crawled back a few feet then crouched and started moving back.
