Entry 2
I turned slowly. “Is anyone there?” I could see nothing but the dark shadows of the alley, and I received no response. Perceiving this as a chance to escape whatever evil thing was behind me, I turned, and ran out of the alley, receiving an annoyed glance from the person I bumped into as I skidded to a halt. I glanced around the crowd, trying to see if anyone else had noticed my exit. Good, I thought, Hopefully no one will tell father about my shortcut, then. Worried over making it home in time, I skipped between the people, hurrying to the palace where Father works and my family and I live. When I got through onto the grounds, I hurried to the servants’ door, where father would not see me. When I was beginning to ascend the stairs, I spied the vice captain of security. He was second only to my father, whom he would tell about seeing me. I knew I had to hide to avoid being caught outside of our apartments, but there was nothing to hide in or behind. Rushing back down the spiraling steps, I spotted the kitchen door swinging, and the room behind it, empty. I hurried, but knew I could not make it in time. What can I do? I asked myself.
