Okay, so for school, we had to write a poem on the Holocaust since we're at the point where we're learning about it once again. Don't get me wrong, I like learning about the Holocaust. I find it interesting, though completely shocking that humans could do that to one another. I mean, war is horrible too, but the experiments they did on those people. Like with pregnant women. The German scientists there would sew the ladies' v****a closed so that when they went into the labor, they would die, as well as the child.
Anyways, this entry isn't meant to be a history lesson! I wanted feedback on a poem that I wrote in a total of about 20 minutes. Please PM me your comments since I have my comments on my journal blocked from everyone. Sorry guys!
Hell On Earth
I’ve come to the conclusion
That this is where I’ll die
For hope is a word that doesn’t exist
In this hell on earth that’s before my eyes
I am now certain my family is dead
I had heard that the children went first
As the elderly were stripped of their clothing
Only to realize that the showers were cursed
The air around me is hard to breathe now
For the stench of the rotting flesh engulfs
And the cries of the new lives taken
Drowned out the moans coming from the wounded adults
The only thing I find that I can do now
Is to wonder what I did to be in this place
The only reason I can think is being born Jewish
Why has my religion turned into such a disgrace?
The world has seemed to turn it’s back on us
The dwindling survivors in this graveyard
Auschwitz, I am no longer the man I once was
Because of this piece of earth turned scrap yard
