Story- Paradise Cove
By Shizune Keehl (Me)

It was Sunday morning; the sun was just beginning to peak over the horizon. Its orange glow began to glisten over the ocean. The sparkles shinned in my eyes; yet I didn’t blink. Every morning I’d come to this very place; just to watch the sunrise. It reminded me of how I was the lone survivor of a ship wreck just days before. I now live with my Aunt Cherry and Uncle Tim. Most people consider this land, paradise cove but I could beg the differ.
“The sea is too low; and I sore much too high. I want to know why…” I began to sing softly. This song was taught to me by my mother when I was a young child. I’m now four-teen years of age. I have blue eyes and red, curly short hair that reaches just below my chin. I also have freckles; five on each cheek about one centimeter below my eyes. I wore blue overalls that reached just above my knees and its edges were torn slightly. I had a red checkered shirt with a collar and buttons.
“Miya I thought I told you not to come here again or I’d have to beat you up…” A snobbish blond girl said from behind me. Her name was Katie Tanner and she was as mean as the girls around here could get. She was also the most popular girl in our school, but don’t let that intimidate you. She’s also the richest girl around but obliviously not disciplined.
“I thought I told you next time I saw you I’d through into the pacific.” I retorted.
“My, my aren’t we clever of coarse you’re all bark no bite” She retorted back.
I stood up and clenched my fists. Only three days in this place and I’m already fighting with someone. I walked over and said, “I’m sorry…”
“Sorry for what?”
“Sorry for this…” I punched the girl in the lower stomach and ran. The graveled sidewalks hurt my bare feet but I paid no mind. As long as I could reach the old cemetery I was safe. I had passed many houses on the way. It was when I reach the cemetery strange things occurred. It was dark and spooky yet it was only midday… I walked along the decaying path until I reached a small basement door. I’d never seen it here before. I read the plaque it was in a strange, unfamiliar language; yet I understood it completely. “Your journey lies within the heart but the story is unnamed your dream of winning against you biggest struggle is unattained. Let the light guide you far and wide to a land that holds your pride. Soon this land will decay and lives as we know it will disappear but we live on so and never let go…” I kept reading, “Welcome to a life where nothing is as it seems?” I looked around, the grave yard had suddenly disappeared and I was in a field?
