Deborah and I are nearing the end of our week-long cruise and let me tell you has it been great. The ability to relax and do whatever we please without the worry of housework has made this very enjoyable. I've been so busy relaxing (irony at its best) that I simply kept forgetting I had the laptop with me. So after I finished a swim today and since Deborah is going in for a special beauty treatment, I decided to see if there was anything I could do for work. I finished that in about an hour so I have free time yet again. I looked in on the local news for back home and was quite shocked to learn that the trial for Ian from Barton Town had started. It was unnannounced, or maybe I just missed things because I was away.

But something about it unsettles me. See, the whole thing from judge on down through prosecution and defense is being run by bots. The courthouse is in Durem, bots are illegal outside of Aekea. We have a few in the steel mill and we hold a special permit to have them there even though we're in Aekea. Now, if they weren't AI bots they'd be fine. But they are AI bots and people are extremely leery about them. The way I see it, so long as we treat them with respect and make sure they either don't understand human emotion and laws that seem illogical, we'll be fine. But if we make them too smart yet not smart enough to understand why things are the way they are... we're in trouble. I called Seraph this morning since she lives in Barton, she had completely forgotten that issue. She told me she'd keep me up to date on the rumor mill to see if we could piece together things that may or may not be true. She seems worried about Ian, the poor girl honestly thinks Ian's innocent and because his defense is weak he'll end up convicted. I'm sticking to the whole void trial issue myself.

Enough about that, back to the vacation. There is so much to do on this ship! We do dock almost every night at a port so we can also get off the boat for other activities. Deborah and I have gone hiking, horseback riding, swam with the dolphins and even did a little rock climbing. On the ship we've gone to magic shows, comedians, theatrical presentations both in the line of live actors and movies as well as therapeutic treatments for mind and body. There's even a small casino on the boat, I played a bit of blackjack and only managed to make fifty dollars more than I put out. But you know that was good enough for me considering I had almost lost everything I put out. Deborah likes roulette and the slots best. I think she played a few rounds of craps, in all she was up fourteen dollars when we called it quits. Hey, I don't care if neither of us won big just so long as we didn't lose.

I'm loving this, it's making going home seem so very hard. But we can't stay here forever and I bet after a while it would get old and dull anyway. A little taste of excitement will always bring you back were-as an overdose will make you tire of it.
