Welcome to Misty Lane Dragons! We sell... well, dragons! All have their own unique set of lineart and many different types!
We have a wonderful world to RP in, and a very original battle system, hurrah! heart Dragons aren't RP-intensive, but roleplay earns you the right to battle, optional extra stages, more draggens, and various prizes, so ish cool if you do. 4laugh xD

The dragons here are mostly very intelligent beings. They can speak human languages and behave more as companions than pets- so um, don't go treating your dragon as a pet if you're a guardian heh xD. They have seven stages: Egg -> Hatchling -> Child -> Teen -> Adult -> Elder -> Ancient. The elder and ancient stage can only be achieved through good and dedicated roleplay. You can only battleat the adult stage. If you have any questions, look for them in the FAQ, post them in the thread or PM MistyLaneDragons. Thank you for coming!

The legends on the planet Alcyone are numerous and majestic- epic tales of heroes, divine tragedies between mortal and immortal lovers... but one of the greatest tells the story of the Misty Lane, that beautiful ring of astral dust surrounding the planet and giving all a sight to behold in awe at night. Now you will also hear of this tale, told through generations of people and proud beings known only as dragons.

(Wait for the story to load, please!) V
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
^

But what became of Glaucus and his son? There are numerous versions of the continuation of this legend. The dragons and dragon-loving communities generally say he escaped and lived in the secret paradise in Cael's lands with his son, joining Cael in the Misty Lane at their deaths. Humans that harbor a hate of dragons say that Cael cursed Glaucus and that the “monstrous” child killed his father once he was old enough to survive by himself, and then died a lonely death.

Many wars had taken place between humans and dragons before- so to honor this legend and as a sign of trust and mutual love between the races, There is a custom for friendly dragon clans to don an egg to friendly humans of the same country. A human/other sentient being (but NO vampires. Or werewolves. Those are so overused! D cool either volunteers to take care of the egg or is chosen by the ruler of the country (you could be anyone- a stable boy, a knight, as long as you're deemed competent) to raise the dragon from the egg. The ruler usually chooses guardians from villages or cities spread all around the country, since a dragon guardian is a good thing to have for every habitation, as a sign of peace- The dragon's bond with the chosen caretaker, the role you would play if you decided to RP with this option, in a way represents the bond between the village and the dragons of the country. So if you beat up your dragon each day and starve it, the nearest bunch of angry dragons might burn up your village and eat all of the villagers. ...Yep. However, if you take good care of your dragon and your dragon loves you, the village is assured the protection of all of the dragon clans of the continent, hurrah! Plus, guardians are the only beings aside from dragons who can visit the headquarters of dragon clans without danger. This is because they are given a special status among dragonkind, who must regard the chosen caretaker as their own and give him/her shelter if ever they need it. =D They are kindof like diplomats!
But if no demand for a dragon's egg comes to a nest, or if the baby dragons are mistreated, it would be the same as a war proposal. The other way around, if a dragon nest refuses to provide an egg, it would mean that the humans are not trusted, and the dragons from that nest would be considered dangerous by the villagers, thus raising war tensions.

Guardians... you play an important role in the land of Anthedon. Can you take on the job? surprised
Well, you're forced to, hah. The job cannot be refused if you are chosen anyway. mad D *evil cackle*

Oki. RP IS NOT MANDATORY! ...Umm... Except if you want the elder and ancient stages xD
You can buy your pet at the egg stage... if you RP, it will grow faster. Without RP, it will take anywhere from 1 week to a month for growth in normal situations, HOMGOMG. It will get to childhood, then teenagehood, then adulthood... and then, POOF. From then on, RP is the only way your dragon will grow. The more you RP, the faster your dragon may grow! And if you don't Rp and still want your dragon to grow, an additional fee has to be paid. 3nodding ...*hint hint bribe!* xD

Fire: Fire dragons are the most common of dragons. As you've probably guessed already, they spit fire, and are probably the most adept at battle because they are both agile and possess powerful musculature. They're very much big talking lizards- although they can speak, they're a little more shallow-minded than other dragons, but have a very good survival instinct. They are usually very sociable- and even second to water dragons in the quality of their companionship if raised well. But in abscence of influence from another sociable creature, they can turn out to be unintelligent, vicious and completely uncontrollable, in which case they are very dangerous to hang around with xD; Their colors vary from earth tones to reds, yellows or even beige, and they also come in a wide variety of dark colors. Their markings are often quite flashy and colorful as well. Albinos happen occasionally. Fire dragons like to eat big game like horses and large bovines, but can settle for goat, pig and sheep. Rogue fire dragons can sometimes be man-eaters, so, eh, watch out 8D.

Earth: Earth dragons are the biggest of the four main races. Their colors are earthy, foresty or mountainous tones, and their hides are extremely thick and hard to damage. The scales in the back of their head and along their back resemble armored plates, and they have no horns aside from those on the points of their plate-scales. Their tail is short and covered in the scale armor, which makes for powerful tail attacks. They are generally the most pacifist of dragons and prefer not to fight, which suits them because they lack agility. Nevertheless, they have incredible defense and strength, and another dragon would be stupid to attempt to take one of these guys down. Earth dragons are rumored to have the best sense of humor out of all the dragons, and boast their wisdom and knowledge. Although a little rare and hard to find, they can be excellent, caring companions. Being too big and slow to hunt, they eat only bugs, scavenged eggs and the leaves of certain trees; they can survive on this despite their large size due to their slow metabolism.

Wind: Wind dragons, with their kitelike wings and beautiful colors, are unmatched in the gracefulness of their flight. They can create blasts of air with their powerful lungs, and their language sounds like an odd combination of various bird cries and twitters. They might be the most beautiful, but also the most vulnerable of dragons. Because of this, in their fledgling years, they have an interesting natural defense- spiky, sharp scales grow outwards from their neck to prevent predators from biting them there. They also have rounder beaks, because their parents feed them, but their pointy scales smoothen down with age and their beaks and claws grow sharper for and hunting prey such as rabbits, small birds and mountain goats. Wind dragons are small and fragile when young, but their build strengthens with age into that of something like a sleeker-looking raptor. Wind dragons are difficult to befriend and they prefer to stay clear of humans, but they can be good friends, although they're very stubborn, and not as loyal as the other dragons.

Water: Water dragons are by far the cutest of all dragons. <3 They're docile and sociable as well, and easiest to tame. Being amphibians of a sort, they can breathe both underwater and on land. They also have the ability to spray water from their throats in short but powerful bursts. They're equipped with small finned wings who cannot fly, but are very useful underwater. While swimming, they can be folded for greater speed. Water dragons have powerful tails with a large fin at the end for swimming, and small arms and legs with webbed fingers. While young, they're stout and chubby, by by the time they've reached adulthood, they're serpentine and sleek with beautiful aquatic colors. They mainly eat shrimp and other crustaceans of the sea.

-CROSSBREEDS, SUBSPECIES AND OTHER DRAGON TYPES-

Crossbreeds are all pretty cool-like, because they have the abilities and advantages of both of the main species they were born from. 3nodding
Subspecies and other dragon types is a field that never ceases to grow. For customs, for example, you can make up your own subspecies AS LONG AS IT IS A REPTILE, IN OTHER WORDS COLD-BLOODED. There's an infinity of kinds of dragons out there.

-NON-DRAGONS-

These are the dragon ranks. Sometimes we let you pick the rank of your dragon 'cept for the alpha/beta ranks, but most often they're chosen by the staff, prior to the sale.

Ranks can change because of RP. 3nodding Dragon eggs always start out rankless, because dragons that are not roleplayed remain rankless forever. (What's the use? Ranks are for RP anyways xD)

Citizen- A dragon who lives in human society, most often entrusted to and raised by a humanoid guardian due to the custom mentioned in the above post. Citizen dragons are treated just like people by humans, and are generally neither feared nor hated by either humanoids or dragons except for dragon-hating or human-hating cultures, or personal reasons. Citizen dragons are generally more cultured, open-minded, and well... more human than the usual dragon. Guardians are not allowed to mess up the upbringing of their dragon, so it is very rare for a citizen dragon to be evil, murderous, or haters of humanoids or dragons in general. If a citizen dragon goes rogue, their rank changes to “Rogue”.

Rogue- A dragon who is not a citizen and does not belong to any clan, or who left their clan or resigned from living with humans. Sometimes loners, sometimes having a family of sorts with other rogue dragons. They can start their own fins, wings or companies if they have a large enough band of rogues and want to be a little more permanent- or they could join other clans (which is impossible if they don't already have family in that clan). Rogues can be very dangerous or perfectly safe- it depends on their upbringing (or lack of), their beliefs and their personalities. Basically, they're the same as human strangers- you need to get to know them before assuming anything about them. Dragon rogues aren't uncommon, but most dragons still stick together in their nest- a lone dragon is very vulnerable to other rogues, dragon hunts, and... well, loneliness. (Awwh. *emotear* ;^; ) Being without the protection of warriors and the eldest is a scary concept for non-rogues who aren't the eldest or a warrior themselves, so rogues are usually hardier than normal dragonkin.

Dragonkin- Also just called Kin by dragons, or even Nestkin by the dragons of the same clan, Dragonkin are dragons belonging to a clan, but who do not play a particular role in the clan. (Of course, adults would have to help with hunting and tending to children like everyone else.) Dragons belonging to a clan but who haven't reached teen age yet are called Dragonkin unless they are of higher birth. (For example, birthed by a warrior, an elder, the eldest of the nest, or even an ancient.) Most dragonkin were born and raised in their nest, so their culture is that of their nest. Dragonkin who leave their nest become “rogues”.

Noble- Like dragonkin, but birthed by a warrior, an elder, an eldest or an ancient. Nobles are not usually any different in personality than dragonkin, unlike the human stereotype of “spoiled rich brat”. xd (Actually, they may be a little more responsible and level-headed because of the pressure to be an example to the others)

Warrior- The "heroes" of each clan, warriors are particularily strong or powerful dragons, and their considerable strength or magic- or maybe both- are usually recognised sometime in their adulthood, when they are given the title of “warrior”. Warriors are meant to protect their clan with their talent and ability, and love every member of the clan so that they could risk their lives to protect them- but nevertheless, they can go solitary if they want to, and even cut contact with their clan completely, because in dragon culture adults are allowed to do as they wish. Leaving the nest and becoming a Rogue will just make the rank change to “Rogue Warrior”. Rogue warriors are frowned upon by most dragon nests, unlike normal rogues, because they abandoned their responsibility.

Adjutant- Beta leaders- they can order other adult dragons of their clan around. Number of adjutants and power held by them varies with dragon species and culture.

Eldest- The alpha leader of a nest, and always the oldest of the dragons of that nest. This is because the older a dragon gets, the more magical ability it amasses. Eldest lead their nest and protect it with their lives if danger comes. Being the most powerful of that nest, nobody would dare rebel against him/her- (yes, they can be either of the genders) and so law and order is maintained, although cruel and evil eldests can happen. But since dragons are a species of pride and honor, the eldests would never betray their nest. Unless they're really evil and can profit from leaving the nest. Which would be surprising, because helping the nest grow into a miniature army of dragons is a lot more profitable... in terms of military power... I think. rofl

Special ranks (RAAAARE. Rarerarerare.)

Dragonlord- The most powerful dragons, dragonlords are said to have Cael's blood running through their veins, granting them truly excessive magical power. Dragonlords like to breed with other dragonlords or dragons of high magical potential so that they could pass down their power to their children with minimum loss. Like the upper class for humans, there are dragonlords for dragons- they are almost untouchable by the lower classes, and do not belong to any clan. Dragonlords are so powerful magically that they can take human shape (heh... with their own magically appearing clothing xP) , but their horns always stay, and sometimes even a ridge of scales along their spine and a small hint of a tail. They usually live alone, but if they have family, they stay near a dragon clan or, more often, a humanoid city so that the young ones can socialise. (Yes, “pure” dragonlord offspring can take human shape early in their lives.) Dragonlords actually prefer being in human shape to dragon shape, after centuries of habit because of how practical it is. Their magical ability is not diminished by their shape, and they usually only shapechange into a dragon if they need to fly long distances. (For short distances, they can shapechange into a person with WINGS! YAY) They also prefer living near humanoids to dragons for a particular reason- dragons want the power of Cael's blood for themselves, and jealousy often leads to hate or much more attention than any dragon would desire. On the plus side of humanoids, Dragonlords are affiliated with the king in the Kingdom of Glades. They are the best "knights" there can be and are treated like royalty, and can be asked to battle for the king and couldn't refuse such an order, but in return, they have access to all of the Kingdom's riches and can live with and intermingle with humans in all of the luxury they have all they want. Actually, given the status and power of human noblety, and can take part in politics, but only if they want to. Those who have lived around dragonlords a lot, like military men of the Kingdom and others affiliated with the king, do not fear dragonlords unless the dragonlords make themselves feared. sweatdrop (So yeah, they can be tyrannical overlords, like any politician given lotsa power... but usually not. Thankfully. xD; ) Dragonlords are an asset to any country. So even dragon-hating countries like Coruba have dragonlords, except that the dragonlords of Coruba are corrupt by power and have no sympathy for dragonkind, considering themselves a superior race apart from those "vicious animals".

Everything takes place here, on a planet called ALCYONE. (daughter of the winds, the queen who wards off storms.) Like most planets, it is named after a figure or roman mythology. The legend behind this one is both sad and beautiful, and it rather suits the planet- I advise you to read up on it. 4laugh

Alcyone is a lot like a slightly bigger and very unpolluted Earth, its immense, shining oceans covering most of its surface. Wind is the dominant factor in climate, and it rarely stops except for the valleys guarded from it by mountain ranges. The vast continents are very seperated from each other, making it impossible to reach them even on the back of a dragon- and making each continent have scarce and vague enough relationships with each other. (Anthedon is a groupment of continents that makes an exception to this. The continents in Anthedon are close enough to each other. Anthedon is not a country, it's just a name you give to the groupment of countries- like Asia, Europe, or something like that.) The only way to reach overseas is by boat, and of course, dragons can neither build nor drive a boat themselves. xD Dragons foreign to their continent would be an extremely rare occurence.

OH YUS, THE MISTY LANE! How could I forget. x3 Alcyone as a planet is surrounded by a ring of astral dust, like saturn- a draconic legend surrounds the Misty Lane, but that'll be told later, in the "Story" part. ^^ The astral dust capts and reflects moonlight, making a glowing, glittering streak across the night sky. It's a beautiful sight to behold and is the inspiration to many Alcyonan myths and legends. 3nodding (it ESPECIALLY holds a special place in the hearts of dragons.)

Setting.

Populace- Elves, humans, anthropomorphic species, and various other humanoids all have their place on the planet of Alcyone. There are numerous fantastical beasts as well. There are no "demons" or "angels" although there are divinities, spirits, wonderful creatures and terrible monsters as well.

Magic- Magic is commonly seen being used by all life forms intelligent enough to do so. The use of magic requires instruction except for natural magical properties like breathing fire for a dragon.

Technology- Flight technology for the humanoids is not very advanced; there are small, lightweight motor planes that can carry two people at most, like our own first planes. Other than motors, there aren't any technologies to speak of.

Anthedon is where we are! (I assure you, the other continents will at most only be briefly mentioned. We're at ANTHEDON, nowhere else. 3nodding Pretend the other continents of the planet don't exist! 4laugh ;; )

Anthedon is an archipelago of continents whose total surface area (without counting the underwater land of Lauviha) is about the size of North America. In other words, Feilun (continent to the left) is half the size of Australia. Big, isn't it? xD

::CULTURE:: ish very, very important. =O The culture is, unlike what you might think, not at all like the middle ages, despite the slight resemblance. ^^ Humans are, of course, the main populace, and although they have claimed most of the territory, their large population dwells mostly in the already colonised areas. The rest of the land is only marked here and there by villages more or less big. So... back to the culture. Humans are open-minded and accept most humanoids. They hold almost no discrimination at all against elves and other races that resemble them most. Furries might have a little trouble once in awhile, but they're never persecuted outright; that...would be for the more beastial life forms, like dragons. Dragon hunters and collectors can be arrested or praised as heroes depending on where they are.
There is a very large diversity of religions, but all of them are based upon spirits and multiple deities. They all resemble each other up to a certain point, so religious war is unheard of in Anthedon. Think Greece and Rome, but less stone and more wood. xD

: biggrin RAGON CULTURE:: There are quite a few cardinal groups/families and hundreds of branches and sub-groups/families of dragons. There are "Wings" for flying dragons, and "Dens" for the earthbound ones. Groupments of dragons composed of both flying and earthbound dragons are called "Nests". Dragons are generally peaceful and companions with each other, but territorial wars are bound to occur from time to time, often resulting in the division of the losing Wing, Den or Nest into many smaller Wings, Dens or Nests. The culture of dragons holds honor very high. They prize their heroes, their past exploits, and most of all, their legendary origins make them proud beings. Their "religion", if it can be called so due to lack of deities, is also based on spirits. They believe the Misty Lane to be the source of spirits on Alcyone, and where all spirits return to.

**Stages**

There are Five stages that are normally available :

-Hatchling : The newborn dragons are the size of big lizards. They still have to learn to speak and to walk. Hatchlings are cute and affectionate, and this is the time when your relationship with your baby dragon is formed, and you will be loyal to each other for the rest of your life. They act a lot like birds at hatching: the first being they see is identified as their mommy. Too bad if you're a guy, you're still the mommy. X3

-Child : Short, thin, and energetic, they have yet to gain more adult characteristics. The young dragons start to build their personalities. They love to play rougher games to build up muscle. The males, at this stage, are larger than the females.

-Teenager : Teens are taller and bigger but have yet to gain their adult weight. They now have most of their adult characteristics, such as the colored patterns around the beak characteristic to males. The females and males are now about the same size. Starting from teenagehood, dragons could breed, though they have less chances of success than when they will be fully matured. This stage is also when their personalities develop most and reach a definite point.

-Adult : The dragons have now reached their full maturity. This is also the time when a dragon would perhaps develop a need to go solo and seperate from their "mommy". The females are now stronger and larger in size, and thus fully prepared to protect a clutch of eggs. The males now have beautiful colors and patterns, making them a true sight when seen flying and gliding in the sky. This is the time when dragons can breed with the most success.

::Some nice roleplay efforts here::

-Elder : Being reptiles, dragons never truly stop growing. Wiser and more experienced, they often seem to have a form of infinite knowledge... their colors might have faded a little, but the more ancient, the more majestically big dragons are- It is said they could reach the size of mountains. Dragons who knew magic are now much more powerful than before, and those who did not are much stronger, although their movement limited.

...Wait a sec. Maybe there's a secret stage... um... or two... beyond this... but for now, himitsu desu! <3 ...xD I really feel like describing them though! mad

---

One more thing: the roleplay greatly affects their growth~ their expressions, size , body structure and sometimes (but rarely) color all relate to their personality! If your dragons battles, sometimes Mythee will tell you that your dragons has been scarred. That scar would appear on the dragon's next stage. But as an elder, the dragon's magic is too strong, so no more scars can be made.

~---~::=::~---~

User Image

Dragons can lay clutches of 2 to 4 eggs at a time, and the babies hatch in 1 week to 1 month. The owners of the two dragons that made children together (because you can't breed two of your own dragons) can each have 1 baby if they want to. Breeding costs 10k, and you can shrare the price between each other however you want. If there are babies that are left after you chose which ones to keep, they will be sold in raffles or special flatsales, and you get 50% of the profit made.

+++A Few Things You Should Know+++
-Dragons can interbreed between the different species and kinds EXCEPT if it is written that a certain species cannot breed with another.
-Interbreeding results in a dragon of the same species.
-Crossbreeding results in, well, a crossbreed.
-Dragons of the same gender can't breed, and sorry, there is no genetic engineering in Misty Lane. xD
-All dragon's growth is pretty much the same- parents know how to take care of the baby until it can fend for itself, and then usually abandon them. They are reptiles, after all. n_n;

If you want a custom dragon, you may PM the form to either Mythee, Vooma or Haisyn Fierra, depending on who you want to do it. Customs are NOT RP required, but as usual, the Elder stage is RP required. Don't forget to wait for when the custom slots are open! The price? It depends on what stage it starts on...

There are no elder customs, because the elder stage is achievable only by RP. Custom species cost double the main species price, but for now we're only doing customs for main species. (Earth, Fire, Water, Wind.)

HATCHLING: 80k + the price of influences if you buy any
CHILD: 70k + the price of influences if you buy any
TEEN: 50k + the price of influences if you buy any
ADULT: 30k + the price of influences if you buy any
NO ELDER CUSTOMS, RAR! D8<

The reason why you might want to buy influences is because you cannot make your dragon elemental or anthropomorphic or something just because it's a custom. You'd have to buy influences like everyone else. Well, not exactly, because you can choose:

-gender
-stage
-species
-colors (no need for influences for colors)
-patterns (no need for influences for patterns)
-shape and size (no need for influences to affect how big, muscular, slender etc. your dragon is)

It's still a pretty good deal, hmm? ^^ If you think you can't afford it, but you're good at coloring...

Special deal 1 -
You may ask to color it! And if we agree, the custom will cost a whopping 10000g less PER STAGE of the custom! We decide by vote if you could color your dragon. 3nodding Vote = advantage of a three-person staff xP
Example: Self-colored hatchling custom costs 40k instead of 80k. o.o

Omg? Another one?
Special deal 2: If you choose to leave either the physical description space and/or the color space blank, ye get 15k off. xP (It won't be much of a custom without a custom appearance and/or custom color, but for some reason, I thought that people would like having this deal. ._. So a custom adult could cost 15k instead of 30.)

Now on to the form we go! xD Remember, PM IT =O

*?* = Optional : You don't need to fill this question of the form.

Mean people who go here are never allowed to touch Misty Lane Dragons ever again or get their brains eater over and over again although they'd have to have many brains for that, which isn't likely. *glare*

Luckily, nobody's here. 4laugh heart

Welcome to the item shop. Here we sell what is called an "influence", which in general seems to be a tiny fraction of a spirit kept in a bottle- it can trigger small but strange changes on a dragon when bought- there's nearly an infinity of combinations that you can make with them. When influences are used in large quantities on a dragon, they absorb so much of a spirit that they become what one might call an "elemental". The maximum of each influence you can buy per dragon stage would be 3. Any more of one kind of influence per period of growth and the changes might be too drastic and might 'consume' your dragon's soul, so it is not recommended.

~---~::=::~---~

    User ImageForest Influence- 1k
Will make your dragon's patterns more diverse.
    Stock: 2

Will make your dragon a little darker each time used, but if you use 5 on your dragon, it will turn black!
    Stock: 4

    User ImageEmpty Influence- 1k
Will tone down your dragon a little each time used, but if you use 3 your dragon will be entirely colorless!
    Stock: 5

    User ImageFire Influence- 1.5k

Human Influence- 20k :
Turns your dragon into an anthropomorphic on it's next stage (except if it's an elder, in which case the dragon gains an extra anthro stage). It can be used at any stage. If you purchase 1, your dragon becomes anthro. If you purchase 2, your dragon is mostly human (tail, horns and other might remain) If you purchase 3, your dragon becomes fully human. But none of this affects any powers your dragon has.

Pet trades = yum. x3
THE SINGLE RULE OF PET TRADES!
We do many kinds of pet trades, but pet trades must be FAIR. Misty Lane Dragons sells unique-lineart, individual pets, and a lot of effort is put into every single one. For this reason, we will have to judge the quality and kind of your pet for a fair trade to be made. 3nodding [Ignore how much we actually sell our pets for. Pet trades are not gold-related. ^^;] When you're doing a pet trade, if you aren't offering two pets, you must choose one same person to be both lineartist and colorist.

To do a pet trade, PM the mule! 4laugh The artist you chose and you will discuss the deal <3 Pet trades can be refused if you can't decide on a fair trade. This would NOT be an offense to your shop- but if you can't offer a fair trade and instead start to argue or cause a fuss, you'll be blacklisted. And that would be sad. ;-;
