Hello, new member! Please read this overview if you're new to the guild. First, here are the rules and regulations. These are the little things that you have to make sure you do and don't do while you're RPing with us in The Druid Saga.

The Druid Saga is an RP that works through a forum system. People post and create their characters in the Character Subforum before these characters are used in the main story. These characters work like any other character---you can speak through them, they can think, and they can act. Anyone can make a character as long as they are part of the RP.

What makes an RP different from writing a story is the fact that you have to occasionally respond to other people's posts. For example, let's say I controlled a character named John, and you controlled a character named Jane.

And as John, I posted:

John walked through the meadows that day. He loved the smell of fresh air and green grass. As he looked at the lovely landscape, he saw a small figure running down the hill.

If you are in the same scene (which you probably said you were in before) you'd answer with something like this:

Jane saw John in the meadow, a happy smile on his face. She waved and yelled "John! How are you?!" before losing her footing and tumbling down the hill.

Most likely, I would attempt to save you in my next post, and then maybe you'd respond with a thank you. Regardless, the improv-like way of making a story is how RPs mainly work. Other RPs have their own set of rules, which may control the time of day and such, but in this case, simply follow the rules posted in the link above and be sure to read the other threads in the Main Roleplay subforum.

However, there are some things about RPs that aren't always listed in the rules, but must never be done.

Be literate. TDS is a semi-lit RP. By that, we don't mean "hey i lyk dogs how bout u". By semi-literate, we mean literacy--which can be about a few sentences to a paragraph in length. Other RPs require completely literate RPers, which often demand several paragraphs. This RP is semi-lit, so don't worry---semi-lit only means the length of the posts may be shortened.

Now, about the subforums in the guild:

First, is the character subforum, which I believe I provided a link to. Here, you grab the character template, which is on a sticky in the subforum, and you start a thread in the subforum with your character's name. Fill out the character template, and before long, the guild captain or one of the crew members will approve your character.

Once that's done, you can take your character to the Main Roleplay subforum and post in the Main Roleplay thread---where the main story takes place. If you're ever behind, feel free to check out what you've missed in the Update Thread, or simply read along.

Also, in the guild, there are places for you and your character to hang out. This subforum is called the Out of Character Roleplay, and you can play little games, break a few rules, and not worry about the plotline. Normally, they're little side-stories where you can explore your character's personality. Feel free to start one anytime!

In TDS, there is also the Out of Character Chitchat subforum. Here, you can speak to other RPers, play assorted games with them, or get to know everyone a little better. You can also ask questions here.

If you'd like, you can add anything to the world of TDS, such as a city or a country of any kind, post about it in the Worldbuilding and History subforum. Others can discuss these ideas with you, and they can branch off to entirely new things.

Then, there is the Art Services and Requests subforum, where---as the name states---you can ask for character arts or donate arts to the guild.

Finally, there's the Crew Forums. The Crew Members discuss decisions here. Only crew members can enter, so there's really not much I can say about it.

Anyway, that wraps it up! I hope we see you RPing soon! We'd love to have you as an active RPer here in The Druid Saga.
