Chapter 1 - The School Girl
Ebony rushed through the hallways, running at an incredibly fast speed, panting heavily. She finally approached her classroom, room 216, and blasted open the door. The bell rung as she rushed to her seat. The people around her began laughing, but Mrs. Blake just tapped at the white board. "Alright class, please take out your notebooks. And next time Ebony, is the last." Ebony silently nodded, while blushing madly. She looked to her right to find Chris writing like crazy in his notebook. Chris Terukawa. Best friend, funny weirdo, but awesome when you need him. He's one year older than me, but his brain functions like an 8 year old. Chris ripped out the page silently, and when Mrs. Blake had her back turned, threw the paper at Ebony. As she held the paper under her desk, Ebony silently opened the crumpled piece of paper. She read the messy cursive handwriting. It read- What's your problem with coming so late all the time?! Jeez...you having no parents is a bad influence on you Ebony. No offense or anything, I know how mad you get when I mention that...But man! The next few words were written in all caps, print. WAKE UP EARLIER! Ebony turned to Chris and gave him one of her -I'm going to kill you- glares'. He just shrugged as he looked back to his textbook. "Ebony? Please read the next paragraph." Mrs. Blake's voice woke her up from her little angry moment with Chris, and she stood up. "Alright." "P a g e 4 7 5, f i t h p a r a g r a p h!" Chris whispered silently. Like I said, awesome when you need him. Ebony thought happily, and began to read aloud.
*** The bell rang loudly, as Ebony stood up to stretch. "Gaaaah! I'm so tired!" Chris began to gag loudly, and dramatically. Angered and annoyed, Ebony kicked him in the shin. He squeaked and said, "What?! Hey, I mean you come late to class...and you say your tired?! Didn't you come late because you slept in late? That's what we all thought!" Ebony rolled her eyes as the classroom door slid open. In came trotting in Kira Yatsukawa. Ebony hadn’t noticed yet and said to Chris, “Hey, do you have anything I can eat for lunch?” “No. Stop asking that everyday. Hey look! Kira’s here!” Ebony turned around. The moment Kira and Ebony's eye met, Kira rushed over to Ebony screaming, "EBONY HARMONIA! LONG TIME NO SEE!" She thrust her arms around Ebony’s neck. Ebony began to choke, and staggered backwards, her eye twitching. "Didn't we meet...about...yesterday?" "EXACTLY! LONG TIME EH?" Kira yelled. Mrs. Blake walked back into the classroom and said, "Kira...Please calm down and be a bit quieter? Just take a few lessons from Tomoe. Is that such a hard thing to do? No! Tomoe!? PLEASE! Help her...She is too loud!" Mrs. Blake turned back to Kira and said, "Kira, I don't mind you coming to our class at lunch, but please quiet down or else I will mind, and-" "ALRIGHT! Er...I mean alright! I got it, I'll be quiet, and shut up. Alright? Alright. You can go now." Kira retorted. Tomoe silently glanced up from her book, adjusted her glasses, and just shook her head. Tomoe Kirisaki. a quiet girl who never talked much. She always had her head in a book, and is really smart. Well no duh. She is basically a child prodigy, and is only 9 years old. Only 9 years old!!! Kira backed away, with a slightly odd look on her face. She whispered to Ebony, "T-that girl....creeps me out!!!!!!!!!!!" Tomoe glanced back at Kira with her face dark, her eyes glowing evily. Kira screamed, and ran out the door, leaving her Melon bread behind. That chick is the weirdest, most hyper girl, you'll ever meet. “Hey! Now I have lunch!” Ebony said happily. “Yep. Now you do.” Chris said, and shoved a riceball into his mouth.
Chapter 2 - The Harmonian Princess
Ebony waved goodbye to Kira and Chris while saying, "Bye! I don't know if I'll be available later today..." Another ‘giving’ ceremony in Harmonia... Chris gave her a sad look. "Again? But you said that yesterday too!" Kira nodded. "Yeah, yeah!!!!! YOU SHOULD COME WITH US TO THE FESTIVAL OR DON'T TELL ME YOU'VE FORGOTTEN! WHAT COULD YOU POSSIBLY BE DOING ALL ALONE?!" She yelled. Ebony backed away, totally surprised. "The festival...is today?!" Chris looked at Kira, and she looked at him. Together, they said in unison, "She forgot." Ebony moaned and said, "I'll call you later today! PROMISE!" She ran off in an eastern direction, leaving Kira and Chris to themselves. Once again, they said in unison, "She forgot," And walked off in a western direction.
Ebony, running as quickly as her legs could take her, finally approached her home without even stopping at the bakery. Rare thing for Ebony. She busted open the door to her small apartment room, and threw her school things down, ran to her room, and changed her clothes into the Harmonian ceremonial clothing. Ebony then kicked open the small closet, and closed the door once she was completely inside. It was dark, and she couldn't see a thing. She unlatched the small crescent hair clip, and slashed the air. To a normal person, one wouldn't be able to tell the difference. But since Ebony was from another world, she could and walked through the small slit. After walking through, she appeared in her other room, in her other world.
Harmonia.
Ebony ran through the fancy halls, yelling and screaming throughout the entire palace. Maids were tripping over her long ceremonial clothing, dropping cleaning objects. They were yelling, "Ebony-sama, please slow down!" Ebony would just nod, and continue running at the same pace. She finally approached her parents room. She kicked the door open, scratching some of the ebony paint on it. "MOM! DAD! I-" But they cut her off. "Oh sweetie honey! You're home!" Her mother said happily, yet dramaticly. One of the maids outside the room murmured, "As if you couldn't hear." Her dad also interuppted her. "Ebony sweetie, please try to be more elegant. You're beginning to act like that Kira girl." Angered and frusterated, Ebony ignored the remark and yelled, "YOU PURPOSELY PLANNED THE CEREMONY TODAY DIDN'T YOU?! YOU KNEW ABOUT THE FESTIVAL...AND PLANNED THE CEREMONY THE SAME DAY!" Ebony's mother and father exchanged glances, and sighed. They knew they had to fess up, or else their estatic daughter would be even more angered. Her mother spoke first. "Honey, we mustn't have you mingling with those...things! Humans, if you must." Ebony's father now spoke up. "Yes, listen to your mothe-" "Oh shut up Harry, you're no help." Her mother retorted. Ebony, angrier than ever yelled, “HUMANS?! What’s the difference?! Elves and humans are exactly the same!” “No dear, humans…aren’t as…Oh…I’m blushing. Humans aren’t as great.” “WHAAAAAAAT?!” Yelled Ebony, and suddenly remembered a word she had learned in class. “You two…you two are….RACIST!” Flustered and embarresed, Ebony’s mother and father said, “T-t-that is an unapropriate word for a young child like you Ebony. Go to your room, or else we won’t allow you too go to the ceremony nor the festival.” “See if I care! My life is now being completely ruled by you too! I’m so-“ “Oh…That reminds me. Harry? How could you let me forget?!” Harry, confused at what his wife said, replied, “Despoina…what are you talking about?” Despoina slapped him in the face and said, “As if you didn’t know! We can’t lock Ebony up! She needs to see Alfred!” Ebony groaned, and gagged. Alfred Whitaker. Number one jerk, but too mom and dad, he the perfect husband for me! ME! A jerk like him?! I refuse! They say I’ll understand later in life…NEVER! I would so choose… Ebony blushed as she thought of another boy. A boy she was supposed to meet at the festival. Katsumi Yoko. Although her parents mistook her blushing for a liking of Alfred. Her mother said, “You’re finally beginning to understand why I think Alfred is so cute?! Wonderful! You can go to the ceremony tonight and see him! Ashe? Please assist Ebony to her room.” Ashe, Ebony’s favorite maid, appeared at the door. “Yes, Despoina-sama.” Ashe was probably the same age as Ebony in human years, but her elf age was much older. “Let’s go Ebony-sama.” Ashe said, in her nice gentle voice. Steamed and too angry to notice, Ebony stormed off to her room thinking, Yeah. They hate humans, yet they send me to a HUMAN SCHOOL?! I know they’ve told me their stupid ‘logic’ of why, but I still don’t understand. Sending their ‘beloved daughter’ to a human school?! What the heck is up with that?! Suddenly, her mother’s voice called her back. “Oh yeah, and don’t ever come back if you’re going to wear your humans ears.” Her mother snapped her fingers, and Ebony’s ear’s curled out, and elongated. Never come back huh? Hah, I wish.
Chapter 3 - Identical Twins
“Ebony-sama, please don’t chew on the pillow, and I beg of you too stop throwing the books against the wall. They are of holy-ness to Harmonia, even if the stories inside don’t mean anything.” Ashe said to Ebony, who lay on her bed doing all of the things Ashe had asked Ebony not to do. Ignoring her favorite maid, Ebony sat up on her elegant bed, looking at her elegant room. Everything was too elegant. She hated everything about the royal life-the fact that it was too damn elegant, being referred to as Ebony-sama, and most of all, the giving ceremony's to the poor. Yes, Ebony had the power to give bliss to those less fortunate, and she liked it too. The only problem was, that her home did it too often, and her parents always planned them on the most important dates in the human world. Why was Ebony able to give bliss, but not receive it herself? Life was just not fair. Suddenly, Ebony had a brilliant idea, as she glanced over at Ashe. ”W-w-what? Ebony-sa” ”Cut the –sama please, Ashe.” ”B-but it’s required!” ”I don’t care. Stop acting like a maid. Act like me.” Ebony said, looking at Ashe’s profile. A tall, slender, beautiful maid Ashe was. She and Ebony both had the said eyes, a haze of sepia, and a sliver of black in the middle. The same curved ears that became swirls at the end, and Ashe had her ears pierced. In the exact same spot as Ebony. ”No! Ebony, I will not do such a thing! Your parents would be furious if I did! I will not accept it!” Cried Ashe, already knowing what Ebony had in mind. But Ebony wasn’t listening, and walked over to Ashe. Standing up tall, her experiment proved positive. The two were the same height. ”Pleaaaaaaaaaseeeeeee!” Ebony said, hoping Ashe would give in. “Ashe, you don’t understand! I promised Katsumi I would meet him! Promised! It’s the carnival tonight in Serejuku, the yearly fall festival, and I would break his heart by not going!” ”Unfortunately, that’s what your mother wants. I’m sorry Ebony, but I won’t give in. This is too serious, and you could be banished from the Human world.” Hmgh, so much for being my favorite maid, Ebony thought, temper beginning to flare again. Why not?! Just because I’m heir to the throne?! You know what? One of these days I’m going to tell Katsumi! Just you wait, I’ll even bring him here, for that matter!” Ebony cried, tears beginning to flow. ”It’s not fair…Life just isn’t fair….” She said, hopelessly between sobs. ”I’ll end up marrying Alfred in the end, and live a sad, pointless life.” The tears were real, but the voice was a little overdramatic. Even so, Ebony hoped Ashe would give in. And she did. Finally, after a few more ‘helpless’ lines of dramatic-ness.
***
”A-a-are…you sure I look like you?” Ashe asked, looking at herself in the mirror, looking back a forth from Ebony, to herself. Ashe had to admit, she looked a lot like Ebony in the ceremonial dress. And yes, they were the same height. But the hair! How could she pass with her silver hair, and Ebony’s golden brown hair? No. Ashe began to think, realizing what Ebony might have in mind. No. I will not- Suddenly, Ebony appeared from the marble bathroom with a box from the human world. Ashe couldn’t make out the foreign letters, but knew it was what she had hoped it wouldn’t be. Hair dye. Ashe sighed helplessly, as she sat down on the swivel chair in front of the mirror.
*** When the makeover was over with, Ashe opened her eyes, and almost fell out of the chair, which was 10 time sizes to big. ”E-E-ebony! M-my….” “You knew it was coming, and you look really good by the way!” Ebony said, winked, and stuck out a peace sign. In Ashe’s face. Ashe backed up, and stood up out of the chair. ”But my hair, it’s all greasy!” ”Ah, there is an easy reason to that, my good friend,” Ebony said, happily. ”Just go take a shower, and rinse without soap until the color stops coming out. Simple enough, yes?” Ashe nodded helplessly, she had no say in the matter whatsoever from this point any longer, and walked over to the bathroom.
***
Ashe once again looked at the mirror. Her hair was no longer silver. Her hair was no longer greasy, or wet. It was beautiful golden brown color, the exact same as Ebony’s. The two looked like identical twins. Walking over to the closet, Ebony unclipped her crescent shaped moon hair clip, and turned to Ashe. ”Now don’t forget, don’t refer to yourself as lowly, and definitely! Most definitely, do not call anyone in the royal family, -sama! They will know something is up, and you don’t want that. Alright? Thanks a lot Ashe, and if something goes wrong, I swear, I will take full responsibility. Okay? Bye Ashe, and thanks again!” Ebony-sama! How will I contact you?!” Ashe began to yell. But Ebony was already gone.
Chapter 4 - Festival In Serejuku
In her closet, Ebony rummaged around, looking for a special outfit, just for the festival. Ok, mainly for Katsumi.
Yeeeeeeeeeesssssssss! Ebony thought, grin growing broader. Ashe is really a great friend. I feel so guilty after making her do that…But….Love….Or friendship? Augh, Like I said. Life is too hard… Still focusing on the matter, Ebony finally finished preparing for the festival. Her outfit was a beautiful yet simple brown dress, to match her eyes, and around her waist was the only complex addition to her outfit. It was a beaded belt, with gold and bronze beads, with small blue dividers. The blue matched Ebony’s earings, which were Sapphire studs. On her feet did she wear brown sandels, with a slight raised heel.
Like a small child, Ebony skipped out the door, singing a ceremonial song from Harmonia quietly to herself. Halfway there, she stopped abruptly, and stared at the moon half-mindldy. Ebony’s eyes then became a blur of red, a crimson color. But her moment was stopped by a painful jab on the shoulder. Ebony snapped her head to her right, only to see Chris and Kira.
“Hey Ebony! So you decided to show up after all! Katsumi said he would be late, by the way. Funny how similar you two are…Look at Chris! Isn’t he a hottie tonight?” Kira said, enthusiastically. It was hard for Ebony to even keep up, she was talking so quickly. But when Ebony looked over at Chris, she did have to have gasp. He was most handsome, not in the way of love though. He was wearing black slacks, and white shirt. There was a black coat over that, went in sort of a diagonal form in the back. Chris’s hair had actually been combed, and he was beginning to turn pink. His eyes darted back and forth from Ebony to the ground, to the sky, back to Ebony. But when he noticed she was staring back, Chris just started to jabber.
”So yeah. We’d better go. Don’t want to keep Katsumi waiting right? Yeah. Let’s go. C’mon Kira,” Chris said, and grabbed Kira’s elbow, pulling her away. He didn’t even look back when he said, “Ebony. C’mon. You’re coming right?”
In someway, Ebony was hurt. Why was Chris acting this way? Where was Katsumi? But getting back to Chris, was everything alright?
She followed after, on the left of Kira, who was on the left of Chris. Sometimes, Ebony felt sorry for Kira. She was always in the middle, always the link between Chris and her.
But everything would be alright.
Right?
When the trio approached the festival, Chris trailed off, saying he had to go to the bathroom. But he never came back.
Kira, didn’t take any notice apparently, because she was in an extremely good mood. She kept asking things like, ”Hey! You like dango right? Or how about mochi on a stick? Or fried bean dumplings? Hey look, bean bag toss! Oh! Uni stands! Delicious!”
Ebony, on the other hand, could not cope with any of it, at all. Katsumi hadn’t showed up, Chris was acting odd, and nothing was going right. Everything was supposed to go well, that’s why she made Ashe pretend to be Ebony herself, back in Harmonia. Sitting on a bench leaving Kira to herself, Ebony thought and wondered about it all. Everything was beginning to get suspicious, and people were beginning to stare, so she left to venture in the woods. There it was dark, and no lanterns shined brightly, so Ebony could hear animals clearly. I should have just have stayed in Harmonia. This day is turning out to be totally poi-
Suddenly, Ebony felt lips touch hers, the taste of blackberries filled her mouth, and she closed her eyes.
I worry to much. Thank god Katsumi is here… She thought, and kissed back.
{ Sorry my fellow readers, for the short chapter. *sigh.* >_>}
Chapter 5 - What?!
The kiss was long, and suddenly it began....to feel weird. Usually, with Katsumi, the kisses were short. Long only when they hadn't seen each other for a while, and the last time Ebony had seen Katsumi was the day before today.
Ebony opened her eyes, squeaked, and bit down on his lips.
Hard.
"ALBERT! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING HERE?! Ebony shrieked at the top of her lungs. Slapping him repeadedly, she was glad the two were deep in the woods. Finally, after Albert had turned bright pink in the face from the pain, Ebony stopped. I'll give him more later when he gives me his pathetic excuse! Dammit! How could he do that, and I didn't even notice?!
Now Ebony was not a person who cussed a lot. But from hearing her a moment ago, you never would have known that.
Albert stood there, still clenching her. Ebony cringed in somewhat terror and annoyance. He smiled his big toothy grin, a smile Ebony despised. Albert's skinny arms were tightly wrapped around her body, and his stubby stomach bounced against Ebony's petite tummy.
She squirmed profusely, and finally Albert released his tight hold. "I should say the same about you dear heart." Ebony ignored his words and kept a glance at his arms. If she really tried, she could snap those sticks right in half... Then make a run for it...
"You do know that Ashe was banished from the kingdom, right? How cruel of you to make her do such a thing. But I don't care, I shall forever love you, my destined wife." Alberts words set Ebony's short fuse smack off, shoving her into a huge explosion of anger.
"Wife my ******** a**! Never! I refuse to ever marry you!" At the moment, Ebony didn't even care about hearing Ashe, she could fix that easily. At least make her happy, or bring her bliss.
That was of course, her gift.
Ebony broke away and began to run at a breakneck speed. Most elves had incredibly fast running skills, unfortunately including Albert as helpless as he was. He followed closely behind, until Ebony reached the lights of the Festival. She noticed that the helpers were beginning to set up the fireworks....I was supposed to see those with...Katsumi... Ebony's run became slowed to a walk and suddenly she felt the same flimsy arms around her small body.
Ebony struggled to get free, but this time, Albert's hold was stiff and tight. His disgustingly warm breath breathed into her ear as he whispered, "Is it better to not get in trouble if you go with me, or to get in trouble if you don't? And might I add, lose the life of your dear friend Ashe..."
The words stuck Ebony's heart hard, with a bang. Her eyes trembled, along with the rest of her body. Fists began to curl, and tears began to flow, but Ebony stopped resisting the hold. The words were hard to make out, but in a small hopeless voice, she whispered, "Fine.Take. Me. Back. Now..."
"It's not gonna be that easy. Promise me you'll marry me as soon as we get back, leave the earth world erasing all of the Serejukians memories, and to top it all off...Add a honey at the end. It's not that hard, my love." Albert said, in a strong, now powerful, voice.
Ebony bit her lip, and slowly whispered the words. In her minds, she thought, Katsumi...I...I'm....sorry....I don't mean a word of this...Please understand...
"I-I-I..Prom...ise....to..." The words just didn't come out. Ebony fell to her knee's, and began to sob.
"Say it." Demanded Albert. "Or she dies. I have a connector in my ear, waiting for death commands."
"I-I-I c-ca-!" She started, but suddenly, there was huge blast of air, that blew her hair back. As Ebony turned, Albert was bleeding slightly, and Serejuku had become a Futaiku Detsu.
A Futaiku Detsu was an barrier that divided Serejuku from the Elves during battle. When an Elf released the Futaiku Detsu, everything would return to normal, and even if the entire world had been blown up, it would repair itself, and the Serejukians would never notice.
"Sorry I'm late," A strong voice called. There was smoke everywhere, hiding the source, but Ebony saw 3 familiar shaped figures.
Chapter 6 - Mysteries Revealed
The familiar voice Ebony had heard, proved to be who she thought it had been.
But that couldn’t be good.
Katsumi walked forth from the smoke, appearing in Ebony’s point of view, her night in shining armor. She just gazed mindlessly at him, smiling idiotically. Appearing on his right, appeared Chris, and on his left, Kira.
Katsumi himself, was appearing extremely handsome. His normal fuzzy brown hair was a snowy white, with beautiful streaks of green.
That was, and always had been, his favorite color, of course.
In his hand, Katsumi held a thick broadsword, with an extremely sharp blade. Down the middle, there was a green crosshead, and a design that appeared to be a snakelike creature wrapping itself up the blade.
Chris was looking pretty cute, to Ebony’s surprise. His hair was the same slick black in that poofy way it stuck up, but only he had white streaks. In his arm he held a bow, and slung around his right shoulder, were arrows. They were feather tipped of Phoenix Down, a type of feather that assured quick death. It often burned the enemy to the very bottom of their soul.
And Kira.
Kira, amazed Ebony the most. Her hair was long and purple, and her bangs were a dodger blue. And Kira’s eyes… were most peculiar. They were a sharp crimson shade, and she had black markings within them. She appeared to be wearing turquoise eye shadow, but looking at the other two, it was just her natural self. In her hand, Kira held nothing, but her fists were tight. Ebony watched as she licked her lips hungrily, and turned to her. Kira smiled happily to her, and gave her a thumbs up.
Don’t worry, She mouthed. Everything will be alright.
The three were all dressed in clothing of the same type of beings, the type of beings that terrified Ebony the most.
Elf hunters.
There were terrible stories of the Elf Hunters, the elf hunters who lived deep within the darkness of the woods, the Elf Hunters who were blessed, or some said cursed, with unknown abilities beyond imagination, the Elf Hunters, who all beings besides Elves, feared.
Ebony trembled, and wrapped her hands around her arms. Katsumi…is an Elf Hunter. No, it must be a misunderstanding…I’m in love with an Elf Hunter?! No, I’m just kidding myself. I’m in a nightmare. Albert kidnapped me, and I’m just dreaming a terrifying dream because of that horrible kiss. Yes, it’s just a dream… She tried tricking herself into believing the false truth, but it didn’t work. As Chris appeared behind her and picked her up with inhuman strength, Ebony knew, that this was reality. As tears fell profusely, she watched helplessly as Katsumi beat Albert up.
Finally, she had had enough, and stood her ground. Yes, she hated Albert. Yes, he was an utter creep. Yes, he would hold this against her, saying that she had saved him with love. Because she loved him.
Of course all of that was utter crap.
Love Albert? My a**.
But because Ebony had never seen Katsumi like this, and because it disappointed her, she screamed in absolute anger.
”Katsumi! I am ashamed of you. You, to do this someone as helpless as this dipstick? As hopeless to attack this idiot Albert? I cannot believe you. I cannot believe any of you.” Ebony screamed as she released her hold from Chris, and glared at the three of them. Feeling strong, she walked over to Katsumi and slapped him.
”Way to make a first impression.” Ebony said, and as she walked over to Albert. As she looked over to Katsumi, Kira, Chris, she simply shook her head. ”I never…ever…want to see your disgusting faces again.” Ebony said, extremely disappointed in the three, and herself for saying her next words.
”Albert, take me home. Take me away from these traitors.”
Albert nodded, and his grin became evil as his entire body changed color. Wings sprouted from his back and his hands became sharp claws. Teeth growing to a rapidly sharp size, Albert laughed maniacally.
As the demon ripped her from Serejuku, Ebony screamed, and reached out towards Katsumi. Her arm began to crystallize as Albert pulled her into his realm, the realm of demons, and Ebony closed her eyes.
I’m such an idiot. Always falling for the wrong people. Never being able to find the truth. Never being able to…have…
Bliss.
