Things have been quiet for a good few months at the DS. Daphne had moved entirely to the Hunters' Department, and it seemed like for the first time since she became known at the Complex, she obeyed her orders and completed the office job she was appointed to. Currently there was a rush down at the infirmary... Daphne was once more on her way there, only this time it wasn't due to injuries. The birth acceleration program worked wonderfully on the girl, and finally the time came for her to be released of her burden.
Daphne was laying in bed, still exhausted from the ordeal of giving birth when she was presented with her new-born son. Her tanned complexion was a few shades lighter than usual and the strain showed around her eyes after the hours of agony she had so recently endured, but she was immensly pleased to have gotten rid of it all, and she swore she wouldn't ever go through it again if it were in her power. She hesitated at first, as if she was afraid to take a look at the little being she carried in her womb for as long as she did... she thought she did not want that living piece of her past in her arms, or in her life anymore, now that it was out of her, but as the nurse turned away with the infant Daphne couldn't resist the temptation to look at what she had produced.
Besides having his mother's honey-colored, bright eyes the boy also seemed to have inherrited her fiery character and her lungs, because after he refused to let himself be brought to this world, now he was screaming, announcing his arrival. He had a shock of auburn hair, hopefully the sole inheritance from his father, but even so he was a very pretty and healthy child, plump looking, with chubby but delicate little limbs.
When Daphne was presented with the bundle she gave a quizzical look at the nurse, not really knowing how she was suppose to hold a fragile thing like that, but it all seem to come naturally to her. As she looked at the creature she thought so horribly of for the past months, it suddenly didn't seem all that awful to her...infact, it looked kind of adorable... it was something she made, after all, and she could hardly believe it herself. The thought of giving him away dissipated as soon as the infant ceased his bawling and peered up at his mother's puzzled face with something approaching curiosity... No, it was hers, and she will keep it. She will manage somehow, she will learn... as for Legato, well for now he was buried deep within her memories and momentarily forgotten. Daphne was much to excited and curious about this creature in her arms at that particular time, to be thinking of anything else...
Of course, she'll have to think of a name, Audrey had asked her long before if she has a name prepared for when the child will be born, and Daphne knew the perfect name for him, because she was told it will be a boy. She will name him Ensei... it was the perfect name... and other than that she'll just have to wait and see.. and now that she saw, she couldn't decide... maybe she'll also name him Rowan, she'll see later... but for sure she will call him Rusty, because that was the first nickname that crossed her mind when she was presented with the auburn hair infant. For now she had to rest though, she was more than exhaused, and the nurse practically ordered her to sleep now...but she didn't want to...but she'll have to.. fine, she will sleep! just a little, then she'll get to study more that little creature she produced...
Daphne's eyelids felt heavy, and soon she dozed off...
