Since the morning she realized her true feelings for Kanaye life seemed to be differant to tha young tajiya. There were more reasons to smile and laugh during the day and she never felt as lonely. She simply had to look into his eyes and her worries would disappear.....
"Maki-san concentrate!" Kanaye ordered snapping her back to reality. Before she could blink her sword flew up instinctively to blow his weapon. "I am concentrating." She lied with a grin pushing him away. He shook his head with a soft chuckle. "I wish I had your reflexes girl. You're starting to seem part demon." The tajiya rolled her eyes attacking him with her blade; he blocked before the metal connected with it's target. "Is that a bad thing?" She asked casually pulling back and sheathing her sword. He was tired she noticed the sweat on his brow. It wasn't until she'd actually stopped fighting that she noticed her own labored breathing. "Need a break?" He asked with a teasing glint in his eye. "Not as much as you." She retorted punching him playfully in the arm. Once she'd gotten over herself and admitted her feelings to herself they'd actually become friends, because of that the three months that followed were wonderful. Maki plopped down on the grass and laid down to gaze up at the cloudless sky. Kanaye sat down next to her looking up to see what was so interesting. The breeze passed them and all was quiet for a few blissful minutes. "Maki-san?" "Hm?" Maki turned her head to look at him, but he remained looking at the sky. "Do you remember...when you told me you wanted to hate me?" Maki bit her lip and looked back up. "It was three months ago, I'm only fifteen now Kanaye my memory isn't that bad." He sighed, she could feel his eyes on her. "You never answered my question." Maki's breathing stopped for an instant. She knew what question it was. She closed her eyes and recalled the memory.
He sat by her much like they were now only he seemed defeated. A sadness clouded his features, a terrible sadness that could almost break one's heart. "You want to hate me?" he'd asked. At the previous time she didn't have an answer.
"I-I don't.....want to hate you Kanaye.......quite the opposite actually." She breathed once more. She wasn't sure if that was a confession of her true feelings or not but it came extremely close. "What are you saying Maki?" His eyes bored into her now there was no escaping their gaze. "I....I have to go...." She pushed up from the soft grass and tore off to the village. He might've caught her if he'd followed...but he stayed where he was, watching emotionless as the girl ran away...
