“Sorry I could not be of more help Miss. I must go now, farewell,” he apologized and took his leave.
“Goodbye” was all I could mutter, disappointed at my sad attempt to find answers.
Dr. Cress came in not long after, “Rudeness must be part of the criterion for becoming a successful businessman,” he murmured as he watched Mr. Sato leave down the hall.
“Miss was he . . .” he paused mid sentence.
I hurried and tried to wipe them away before he could see the tears streaming down my face, but it was too late. He walked up to me, pulled a pale, yellow handkerchief from his chest pocket, and gently, wiped away my tears.
“I know I keep saying this, but everything will be fine. I promise we will figure this all out.”
For some strange reason, I now believed him. It was something in his eyes . . . something . . .
“Dr. Cress, there is something I want to tell you,” I confessed.
“Yes?”
“Well, I think . . . no, I know what my name is,” confident that this had to be true.
“Well, what is it?”
“My name is Fallon, Fallon Arcangel,” I admitted, unsure of how he would react.
“Fallon . . . Fallon is a beautiful name and I am glad you were finally able to entrust me with it.”
“So you knew all along? That I was holding it a secret?” I asked, confused by his statement.
He chuckled, “Of course, I am a doctor, you know. Not only have I learned about the body and how to repair it, but also how to read it, too. I saw through your body language that you did not trust me. So I took the time to show you that I am trustworthy and reliable. I figured it would only be a matter of time before you see that.”
I sat there dumbfounded by his cunningness.
“You have no reason to feel foolish, believe me it was not an act solely to learn of your name but also . . .” he hesitated.
For a brief moment his eyes seemed to sadden, lost in thought.
Quickly he returned to his senses, “. . . I thought you were a wonderful person and I had wished to befriend you,” finishing with a bright smile.
I smiled back. Although I was unsure of how I felt about the whole situation, I did believe he was genuine.
“Well I have other patients to tend to so I must leave now, but I will be back to check on you shortly, okay?”
“Okay,” I replied, fatigue had begun to take over my body, “I think I may take a nap.”
“Alright, well sleep well Miss Fallon,” said Dr. Cress before leaving.
I nodded my head as I rolled over onto my side and dozed off. . .
