Daphne does not enjoy socializing all that much. A certain turn of events during her short-lived life caused her to become cold and distant, highly individualistic, and perhaps sometimes even hateful of others. She could simulate quite easily enjoyment of someone's company, but she could not resist too long among others. She liked solitude...
Daphne waited for a good time to sneak away from the little group gathered in the narrow, dark alley. As soon as she turned around the corner she started running down the street until the first intersection, which was only about 100 ft away, then she took another right sharp turn and slowed down a little...She paced again, wondering down several streets, taking a few more turns, looking as if she got lost. But knew exactly where she was going... she just wanted to make sure nobody followed.... After a few more feet she came to a rest, drawing her breath, her eyes staring into the distance. The street - very proper and highly illuminated- was quiet and empty, or so it seemed. At the very end of it the blinking sign of a rather luxurious hotel demanded attention....as well as the faint image of few quite expensive vehicles parked in front of the entrance...
After unexpectingly meeting Jin in the elevator, the man pretending to be there out of pure chance, and after having a very animated argument with the man, the angered girl hurried to the rented room. She was mostly angry with Jinato for always popping up everywhere. She wasn't a social being, first of all, and second she was used to working alone, whithout these kinds of interferences. Usually, the employer would give her the pay and expect results without checking in on her every so often. Jinato admitted he watched her often, which added more to that feeling of being stalked, a feeling she felt deep down in her stomach, a feeling of overwhelming axiety and smotherness she got everytime she was conscious of being the center of men's attention (exception being in the case of her targets).
Daphne strolled down the narrow corridor at peace with herself once again, after she got so incredibly enraged a moment earlier. She wasn't paying attention ahead, at first, her being more preocupied to find the card she placed inside the backpack so that she can open the door of the hotel room. After she finally found it, her gaze slowly drifted down the hallway. It was quiet and she didn't expect to find anybody ahead....As her eyes laid upon the person in front of her she came to a violent halt, a squeek escaping her parted lips. Her eyes whidened to the maximum, a horrified expression shaping her face, the backpack and card falling out of her hand... she took a few steps back, and just then the figure disappeared. She coudn't pull herself together for a while. She was just standing there, breathing fast and irregularily, her heard pounding as if it was going to jump out of her chest...She felt lightheaded, about to crash, her legs trembling under the weight of her body. Illusion, illusion she kept telling herself in her mind It can't be him...you're imagining things she repeaded to herself over and over, yet she could not do anything but stare aimlessly ahead of her and breathe...breathe and try to recover from the shock
At the end of the hallway there stood a familiar person from her past. Someone who had treated her even more harshly then the other "pupils" he was assigned. His long red coat was covered by an old brown ragety and torn cloth that seemed to sway to the right even though there was no wind present. He seemed slightly blurry like a dessert marriage. His black polished boots sparkelled brightly from top to bottom. A twisted version of a smile was the only clear thing about him. His intense red hair stood straight up just above the crimson stained cloth that was tied tightly around his head covering his eye's half way. Those errie dull yellow eyes watched Daphne for a momment before disappearing. Legato her tormentor and master had returned from the dead. As she walked down the hallway again, her mentor, Legato, had appeared behind her once more. He was leaning against the wall with his leg's crossed over one and another while smoking a cigarette. The smoke blew out of his nostril's into the air soon dissapating afterward..the wierd thing about this is the smell of cigarette smoke filled the air even though it was only an illusion of her mentor after all..it was JUST an illusion right
Daphne stopped a few steps before reaching the door. She bit her lower lip, a thing she always did when she felt nervous, because a strange feeling sent chills down her spine. She couldn't hear anything at all behind her, but she had the wierd feeling of being stalked. The air filled with heavy cigarette scent... She hesitated to turn around, instead starting to shake. Eventually she managed to turn her head around, very slowly, eyes open wide, fear glittering inside the honey orbs...fear of what she expected to find behind her...
Just as she turned around his image vanished into thin air. There was something left behind that for sure proved something or someone was following her. A tiny pile of cigarette ash was left on the floor behind her. It would almost positively prove that Legato had returned for sure now because before there group broke apart Legato was a heavy drinker as well as a nearly constant smoker
She saw nothing as she turned her head to glance behind her, but when she accidently lowered her gaze to the floor she noticed a tiny pile of ash laying on the ground.. Her head jerked back to looking upfront, as if she refused to take another look at the proof left on the carpet. She closed her eyes tightly and took a deep breath, then turned around once more to look, hoping the ash would not be there anymore, that it was only a figment of her imagination...She released a sharp sound when her eyes met the pile of cigarette ash again. She rushed to open the door and enter the room, hardly managing to slide the card through the slot, her hands shaking violently, tiny beads of sweat appearing on her forehead. eventually the door opened, she jumped inside and slammed the door closed behind her. She made sure to lock the door...
The room was gorgeous, but Daphne was too distressed to notice anything. She turned the lights on into the bathroom and dashed inside, loking that door behind her as well. She curled under the shower, hugging her bagpack, hardly breathing, her eyes wide moving fast across the bathroom as if she expected something to appear in any minute... She couldn't stop shaking... now she missed someone's company... it didn't matter who, just someone to tell her she's crazy, she's seeing things, someone to tell her nobody is stalking her, it's all in her head...
The momment after her disappearance into the room Legato continued to play his twisted game. He enjoyed tormenting this one more then others making a sort of game out of it. This was unusual because he wasn't kind of person to enjoy such frivoulous things. He would not show himself just yet but would continue to use illusions and sounds to frighten her even more. A sudden knock at her door was heard..this knock was repeated over and over again until someone spoke. The voice wasn't comming from Jinato but it was Legato using some sort of telepathy to make it sound like it was Jintao's voice that was being heard at the front door. If she came to investigate the knock and voice at the door by looking through the peep hole she would see an image of Jinato. Everything she heard or saw now was merely in her head put there by Legato's amazing telepathic abilites.
" Hey there Daphne..I'm sorry about before.." It sounded just like Jinato exactly a perfect copy of his voice.
Daphne twitched at the sound of a the door knock. With every knock she curled up more, hugging her knees and burying her head between her arms, covering her ears trying to block the sounds... Then a voice echoed from behind the front door, and it seemed quite familiar.
"GO AWAY AND LEAVE ME ALONE!!! " she found herself yelling histerically, but the knocks wouldn't stop. She just met Jinato in the lift, and he left quite suddenly. He said he had a room there as well, at the same floor in fact, so she thought it could be that he came to bother her some more. She slowly got up and walked out of the bathroom, stopping in front of the main door. She took a deep breath and straightened her posture, trying to appear as contained as possible, then looked throught the visor... and she saw Jin standing in the door way...She unlocked the door and cracked it open, then spoke as calmly as she was capable at that time. "What do you want?" She peaked through the slight crack, but kept her food against the door, in case he'll try to push it open.
The door was open just wide enough for you to see a dull yellow eye peering in at her. Just to look at it was messmerizing causing those who were weak of heart or weak minded to freeze in fear unable to move at all. Then without warning a bright white flash was created by the dull yellow eye. When looking directly into this flash all 6 of your senses become blinded for a short period. Legato was hoping that she would be looking directly at the flash so he could then sneak into her room
She expected to find Jinato standing some distance from the door, not some eye peering straight at her. She squeeked again startleed by the yellow orb staring at her but before she could react in any other way a bright flash blided her, numbing her senses for a moment
This was the moment when he would enter. Using his telekinetic power's Legato lifted the lock and slowly pushed open the door taking 3 secounds in total to do this task. Then sliping in without touching her at all he got behind her. Running short of time before the effect weared off Legato quickly placed the lock back on as well as pushed the door back to where it was before he had moved it. He stood there quietly waiting for her to turn around and face him while he lit another cigarette placing it in his mouth.
When Daphne snapped out of it there was nobody outside the door. She shrugged and smiled a little thinking he must have left. As for the eye, another figment of her imagination "I am losing my mind..." she whispered and laughed at herself. She then pushed the door closed again. Just when she was getting ready to turn around, the same scent of burning cigarette spread across the room. She quickly spun around trying to search with her eyes the source and saw Legato standing right behind her, smoking calmly a cigarette.
"Le...ga... to..." she mumbled, terror reflected in her eyes and facial expression. She couldn't say more...she felt her heart stop...she fell leaning with her back against the door, palms opened sticking to the door, arm hanging beside her slender body supporting on the dooway as well, helping her somewhat keep on her feet.
He inhaled the smoke into his lungs before titling back his head to look up at the ceiling. Exhaling the smoke a couple secounds after tilting his head back. He was sort of smiling as he looked up at the ceiling for a moment gathering his thoughts before he spoke.
" I finally found my little lap dog...you know how long I had to search for you Daphne? Huh!"
He became suddenly angry at her for disappearing all those years ago leaving him alone. He had searched for countless hours trying to find her..the thought of this angered him even more causing him to raise his free hand into the air preparring to slap her but suddenly stoping himself..becoming relaxed once more
Daphne couldn't pull herself together to do anything but stare at him... It really was her instructor, flesh and bones, standing right in front of her, smoking so casually. She managed to gasp for air and swallow hard as she started trembling in front of him after hearing his voice. She saw his arm lift up into the air and turned her head away, toward the doorway, closing her eyes and sqeezing them shot tightly, awaiting for the strong blow...but the slap never came. She dared to open one eye a little and look back at him with the corner of her eye. She didn't dare speak... any word that might come out of her mouth might be a wrong word, triggering him to spill his anger on her.
"Too scared to talk huh? No matter your comming with me..get your stuff!"
Legato started to wander through her room eyeing the bed for a moment before falling on top of it. He landed softly on his back folding his arms behind his head immediatly afterward. The cigarette still in his mouth he inhaled some more smoke and casually blew it out of his nose. He was waiting for her to get her stuff growing more and more impatient as he waited.
" Nice room for a lap dog..how did ya afford such a place anyways Daphne." He was being all nice the entire time he spoke. It was way out of the ordinary for Legato, maybe it had something to do with his mood swings.
"Coming with you... where?" she choked on each word watching him jump so comfortably on the bed... That wasn't fair! the only reason she got that room was to have a proper a relaxation time during that day. She planned on eating a nice dinner, go to the spa, sleep now that she had some money... and it all went down the drain just now.
" I.. I can't go.." Her heart stopped beating again at that point in time. She just disobeyed his orders, and she knew just what that might bring about. But she didn't want to go...especially with him...and Daphne liked to speak her mind even if she knew the costs involved. " I worked for the money!" she whispered between her teeth, gaining some courage now that she already refused his order.
He sat there starring blankly up at the ceiling for a moment. Her disobedience, and courageous remarks were something that attracted him to her. Not in a sexula manner or anything but they were interesting to him..a defeant sign of an independent thinker not just another follower.
" Disobedience..do you know the definition of that word my lap dog? Do you?"
Before he could give her time to answer Legato attempted to use his telekinetic ability to lift Daphne from the ground and pull her over top of him then after that he would slam her into the ceiling at least three times before stoping. This was a suitable "reward" for her insolence that he enjoyed so much.
"I'm not going now!" She knew what as coming, she might as well let it all out before he'd punish her. " It wasn't me who left, it was you! You left us there! You, you, you! You killed them all... all of them! All of us! Nobody returned from that mission!! Murderer!!" her voice tone intensity increased gradually until it became an emotional outburst. " The only way you're going to dragg me out of his room is dead!" she finished with a scream just as she felt a force lift her slim body and transport her to him. She took a deep breath... she couldn't struggle yet...
" Yes, I know I killed every last one of those worthless scum and I should have killed all of all of you off in the process. It is my destiny and my destiny alone to rid this universe of all life and if the only way I can get you out of this room is dead then so be it!" She had sparked something inside of him letting loose that fiery and intense anger of his causing a burst of telekinetic energy to crush all of the light's in the room making it completely dark. His and her eyes were they only two thing's that could be seen now in this room until he closed his..now there was only her eyes. The sound of footsteps could be heard in the dark room for a moment until the sound of her door opening was included along with the sound of footsteps. He had left in a fit of rage droping his telekinetic grip letting her fall down to the soft bed. This wasn't the last she would see of him..he would return.
Paying for every word she spit at him, with little means of protecting herself, Daphne was slammed repeatedly into the ceiling, until her instructor decided that the "reward" for her insolence was enough for the time being. She whimpered with every smash, but refrained from crying out her pain. He'd take too much pleasure in hearing her scream under his torture. She felt the bones crushing inside her body with every slam... she could taste her own blood in her mouth...but she kept strong...And then there was a sparkle... and the room was drowned in darkness. Daphne wondered it it was her falling unconsciuos, or the electicity was indeed cut off.
Next she heard the sound of footsteps ... her door opening then closing with a barely perceptible squeek, but the lock never clicked, meaning the door was cracked open allowing access to her room... she saw herself falling and prepared for one last slam on the ground, but she landed on the soft bed. He was gone, for now - that thought clicked in her mind...She lifted her aching body in a sitting position on the bed and she coughed, choked, cought again and spit out some blood clogging her air waves. An invisible needle stabbed through her stomach, lungs and heart and she screamed...then vomited blood all over the floor. Eventually she collapsed. Sprawled on the bed she struggled to breathe, but she could hardly gasp...she felt her head spin...and then there was tranquility - she passed out.
