Chronicles of the Cage: Say it isn't so...
(Author's note: I might actually make this into a series but I have no idea, opinions would be loved)
The phone rang and rang. Things were just not going right... My dear love was so depressed... She rarely smiled anymore... How I missed her gentle joyful smile. How I wished I could make her pain never comeback. I hated to watch how her heart would shatter in my own hands... All I could ever do was watch. No matter how much I tried to put the pieces back together, they just seemed to break into even smaller pieces. I tried and I tried... But it never really worked, when I finally thought I made her happy, something ruines it. The poor thing tries and tries to be happy... But life cruely slaps her across the face. I want to protect her, I want to make her smile again, but I feel like there is nothing I can do. All I can do is wait... And just be there...
The phone kept ringing... And ringing. She still didn't pick up. My paranoia started to set in... She should be home by now... Why didn't she pick up...? I worry and worry... let me take your pain away.
The phone was picked up. I sighed in relief... "Hello, My Angel" was all I could say when she picked up. She simply replied with a broken hello. Her voice broke my heart... She sounded weak and pained. Oh, how I wish I could take your pain away, my love. My one and only love. I asked her how she was doing, but she replied with an obvious lie. She said she was fine. But I knew better... I narrowed my eyes almost like I could see her infront of me and said. "Say the thruth..." She simply said that she was fine and to please stop worrying. I still rejected the obvious lie, but I knew I couldn't win this argument. I decided to pay her a visit... She said it wasn't neccesary, that she would be fine. She said "I love you, I'm going to rest now..." then she hung-up.
When she said that I felt a cold chill down my spine... Something wasn't right...
I quickly left my apparment and left to see her... Against her wishes of course... I just knew something was not right...
My Dearest Angel, I am coming to see you... Her I love you still rang in my ear... It was true... But she was hidding something.
I got in my car and drove to her apparment... Damnfully traffic was at it's worse at this time.
DAMN IT!
My loving angel, I am coming to be your shoulder to cry on. Please my young angel, wait for me.
The traffic moved so slowly and it seemed to stop. My eyes were fixed on the car infront of me, but my mind was elsewere. My eyes were wide, and they burned. Tears that had been sealed away streamed down my cheek. These tears that years ago I thought had dried up, she made me bring them out. I finally felt human when I first let them loose. She had melted my frozen heart, but had gotten a bit hurt in the process. I still worry about her injured soul, but sadly many time all I can do is watch. It kills me to know that I can't take her pain away... But I can atleast try...
The seconds turned to minutes and the minutes turned to hours... For me it was an enternity... My eyes still remained fixed on the road trying to get to my broken angel's home...
I finally arrived, but I felt the an odd pain in my heart... Something had gone terribly wrong...
I ran to her apparment nearly knocking some of the neighbors to the side... I called out her name as I banged on the door. No answer came, only the cold going down my spine. I called out her name again, and widly pounded on the door. My angel... where are you?
I grew tired of hitting the door and found the spare key to her apparment in my pocket. I cursed wondering why I didn't do this sooner. I walked inside and saw nothing... there was an eerie silence, and looked all around. She was no where in sight...? I looked through the house and saw nothing at all. It only confused me greatly... So I walked in to the last place I hadn't checked.
The kitchen...
The kitchen was just as quiet, I looked around... It was a nice clean white kitchen... expect for that red stain... Red stain..? My eyes grew wide as I realized that was none other than blood...
I staggered back horrified at the site it was all over the cutting board, as I staggered back heard a small splash... I looked down and it was more blood... I looked back at where I was staggering at, and saw the thing that ended my life... It crushed my heart in to tiny pieces... "No... no... SAY IT ISN'T SO!"
My angel layed on the ground in a white night gown, with blood stained all over the floor and her lovely white gown. Her wrist were cut and bleed her life away. No say it isn't so... please don't let this be true... my angel, say it isn't so...
I fell to my knees and crawled over to her, my heart breaking in two... then in to many more. My angel... I held her in my arms and craddled her and cried and cried... My angel, don't give up... We will make it through... Please don't give up on you... Please don't give up on us... Please don't give up on me... Please let me have the chance to take your pain away. Please give me a chance...
I held her close never wanting to let go... I quickly grabbed the phone while still holding her limping body... I called for help... Who knows how long it would take the ambulance to get here... I squeezed a cloth against her soft bloody wrist.
Why...? Why would you do this? WHY?!
I couldn't help but yell, still holding her close. I kept remembering all those times she would force a smile just for me...
Why couldn't I save her...? Why couldn't I make her happy...? Why couldn't I do a single thing...? I rested next to her, and looked at her closed eyes... I cried. And closed my eyes as I lay beside her.
Why would you take my life away...?
I asked her...
~End?
