Let me be free!
I envy the birds that fly so high. Nothing to hold them down, gracefully flapping their wings without a care in the world. They look up from high above the heavens, where everything just looks insignificant. How I hold on to the hope to ever so freely.
Eyes fixed to the skies, from the dawn of one day to the mercy of a new day. Eyes slowly shut when the rain graces my face, but eyes still cast upwards wondering. "When shall I be free?"
Arms spread wide when the breeze comes to caress my skin. Though also teasing, because it shall never grant wings.
To be a bird, with no home except the one I choose. To leave everything behind and just let go. To winds that shall be my companions in travel, take me till the ends of the earth, where the heavens dissapear. Take me up so high that I can finally touch the star I wish upon each night... Just take me away... my friend.
But my fate is to merely watch the birds dance in the heavens so high. Planted I am, as an old tree. Restrained from my freedom from the day of birth. Everyday just growing, with no other purpose but to grow. While people would come and go, only to take advantage of the shade I gave. Carving in to me leaving mark of when they came and left. Leaving me alone with wounds, that only time healed. And even then the markings are still engraved in to me, just not as easily seen anymore... but still felt if you bothered to get close enough. But all you would see is a tree despite all the cruelties that life and people have thrown... Still growing strong, still strong, strong enough to take the harshest of weather and obstacles. But an odd tree it is... Dreaming of the day that it's rooted and set free from the ground it has been imprisoned.
I am a tree... Even though I have been grounded to this cold earth. I still stand... I still grow strong... Each day... I grow stronger. And holding on to the everlasting dream of freedom.
I am a bird just waiting to be free, waiting for the day I earn my wings. To just fly away! Meant to be free, and to not be held down by earthly things. Just to fly away! Take me away my companion, my wind beneath my wings. Teach me to fly, teach me to live, teach me to spread my wings and fly away! Because from the moment we are born we are meant to be free. Free from fear. Free from malice. Free from the troubles that plague us each day. No matter how broken, and beaten down we are. We can still spread our wings one day and fly away. No matter how hard life gets we must grow and learn for the difficulties we get, until the day we earn our wings and fly away. Like an everlasting tree when we are grounded, and like a bird that never looks back when we are let to fly in the heavens so high.
I am a bird finally free, looking down at the things that plague this earth. How distant and insignificant it now looks. All I bring with me are memories and that's all I will take. No need for money, which brings greed in stead. No need for possesions, which only brings us envy. No need for a home, which only brings worry. No need for fear, which only holds us back.
But how lonely can the skies be. Which now I look at you... Do you wish to be free?
Let us break out from the cage we called home, let us break out from the cage called doubt, let us break out from the cage called fear. Take my hand and let me take you away, let me set you free. This world holds nothing for us. As malice begins to engulf it, slowly taking the humanity that once came from the very creatures it was named from. There is so much more in this world for us, so much to look forward too. Spread your wings and don't be afraid to fall. Falling is but a lesson in life till the day we can finally fly. Don't be afraid to fall, because we loose the moment we give up without a try. Don't be afraid of falling because by falling we finally spread our wings and take flight into the perspective we have yet to see. We maybe be broken and used, and maybe even incomplete... but even we can earn our very own wings. So take my hand, I know you're afraid. But we must... we must fall to learn to fly. So take my hand, I know you're afraid. But alone you will never learn to be. So take my hand, I know you're afraid. But alone you'll never fall... So take my hand, I know you are afraid. Because you never know... We might take flight. So take my hand, I know you are afraid. But here I am ready to fall, so you won't be alone... So take my hand... and let's learn to be free. Like we were meant to be. Let us be free...
