The last time my vision caught the light of day was when I got myself caught in a death contraption that could have meant the end of me. It was one of those things that you couldn’t prevent. I never actually wanted to get strapped down to a solid stone table with a large jagged collar fastened around my neck. Then again, who would? You could tell that the gismo was fully ready to snap shut around my tiny skull just like a miniature bear trap.
Only one other person was in the room with me, and that mammal just happened to be the most feared creature of all, a human. This human wasn’t just hurting me to waste her time with a fun little game of torture, but she was also doing this for revenge. We knew each other way back, to when I was once a human. Her name was Sakura. The revenge she was holding against me was the fact that I took away her heart. She wouldn’t admit it, but I know she loves me. I have already learned my lesson, and I am not falling for her beauty again.
At first, I thought Sakura was going to pet me for a long period of time to please her own awkward needs. Then she did something I probably should have suspected from a human in the beginning. Reaching out-ward, as if she was going to pat my head, her finger pressed up against a small button on the side of the gadget’s frame.
At first there wasn’t any pain, all I could feel was something uncomfortably cold press against my neck. It wasn’t the kind of coldness you would feel by touching ice, it was something I couldn’t really describe with true emotions, but if I had to choose one word it would most certainly be cold. The pain came when I realized the coldness hadn’t just pressed against, but had punctured my skin. It also took me a while to understand that it wasn’t actually coldness I was feeling, but a horrible reaction to a blade. Tiny shards of metal and steel were beginning to dig their way into my warm coat that was now starting to drip with crimson blood.
Sakura stretched her foot forward and pressed in another button that was right underneath the table. The next sensation I felt took my breath away, literality. The contraption started to tighten around my slender neck, causing me to struggle for a breath. Now I was taking in deep slurps of air and soon my heavy breathing was turning into gasps. I was begging for some way to know if I was alive or not. The woman figure that was standing before me was grinning thoughtfully into my eyes. She was enjoying my pain, just as much as I was despising it. We both knew the little secret Sakura was hiding; I could see it in her eyes. I knew the truth, she was a witch. We each exchanged a long glare before she took the first move and struck me on the top of the head. The next thing I saw was blackness.
