Debrah flew at a great speed, though, admittedly, not quite as fast as she normally might were it just her and Eldrich. She thought she heard him calling her, once, but after a pause she didn't hear the call repeated, so she continued. The sun was setting fast, and soon it would be night, and much too dark for Eldrich or the Elf to see by (though, she thought, Eldrich had his shiny light magic, so it wouldn't be much of an obstacle).

Yet suddenly Debrah noticed something bizarre on the horizon and she paused, mid-flight, to gaze at it. The ruins, nested comfortably in their little patch of the forest, were emitting an eerie glow. Not only that, but Debrah could feel something tugging at her, lightly, but not light enough to escape her notice. As a test, she withdrew her longsword, igniting it. Sure enough, the flames, despite the wind, were stretching in the direction of the ruins, as if attracted to them by unnatural forces...

It was about this time that Debrah heard Eldrich calling her, and she slipped her sword back into its sheath.
"The light is waning, Eldrich," she called down. "And...something else is happening at the ruins. Something strange. I'm coming down."

With that, Debrah descended through the canopy toward Eldrich. She always knew where he was, since his holy aura was always pressing against hers, yet now there was another force pulling against her, and she wanted only to figure out what...

"So what leads you to believe that something is happening at the ruins, Debrah?" Eldrich asked as she came back to the group. He knew that something must be really big for her to return to the group like that when she could just as easily continue flying ahead.

It dripped, but it was nothing like what it had once been. It used to flow, pour from the slice; but now there were only three tiny drops of blood from his hand. The near black liquid stared up at him accusingly, reminding him what he was not only with its consistency and color but that there was so little of it in him.
In life things are important, neccesary and utterly needed; in death they are nothing but a formality, an anomaly that provides and answer to nothing.

Taking the ceremonial blade, he pressed the blade against the blood and began to chant softly. A soft glow took to the dark room and painted the stone it was made of with a garish light. Truly these ruins were helpful in their own right, but he already knew the result; but he had to try. It was imperative.

The soft groans of the animate dead that filled it's halls bothered him not, nor did the almost complete lack of light. Nothing but what he was doing mattered, nothing at all.

Eldrich looked at Debrah, "Come to think of it, I have been feeling a slight pull in my travels as well, but I thought nothing of it, for it was too slight to really mean anything." The darkness really started to gather around them, and Eldrich created a small ball of light so he and Valin could see, suddenly, the light got drawn toward the direction of the ruins as well. "Truly, this must be a bad omen, but we cannot let it stop us in our travels.
