We went up in the Arch of St. Louis today! But first we had to get to the parking area, and THAT was tough. The streets of St. Louis are REALLY small, and the bridges are REALLY low. The roads were interesting, though, and paved with uneven bricks. So we had a little adventure today, even before we got to the Arch.
Then we went up in this elevator to get to the top of the Arch, and looked down on the city from 650 feet in the air. Everything was so tiny! And you'd be surprised how many buildings have pools on the roof.
Then the streets flooded, and we finally figured out what that thing in the river was. It was a metal hand holding a metal hat. Apparently there was more to the statue, but it had been swallowed by the river. It was odd.
Anyway, I tried to upload the pictures I took, but only one worked. I'll post the rest as I can.

So we have passed through the gateway to the west, and our trip has begun.
