Paint the army black and white,
One is darkness and one is light.
This is a game for the tactically minded,
A game where you can't afford to be short sighted.
Send the rook horizontal or vertical,
With no limit to how far or wide.
Let the bishop move only diagonal,
One on each color for both sides.
For the pawn only forward a single square,
Except in combat when it cuts in advance.
The powerful queen can move anywhere,
She explores the board in a deadly dance.
Three blocks straight then one left or right,
An L shape for the horsely knight.
The king moves one space in any direction,
To win a match he's the target selection.
