The Spirit of the Wolves
This story was originally in my other account's journal, but was moved to me!
Chapter 2- News
After about 45 minutes Nala's village was in sight. From where she was standing now, she could see basically the entire town. There was the post office, supermarket, pharmacy, a bar, a small book shop, and the iced over lake where the occasional plane landed.
She lived in a small town about a mile off the coast of Alaska. She lived in Alaska all her life, and after 14 of wandering around the town and the ice fields, she knew every rock like the back of her hand.
As she got closer to the town she got quieter. She didn't go through the main street, but went to the outskirts of town and to behind her house, where she climbed through her bedroom window. Only she knew about the wolves, and she wanted to keep it that way.
She pulled off her boots and jacket, putting on her warm sweater and leaving her room, putting on a sleepy look as she entered the kitchen.
"Morning..." she said with a fake yawn, which convinsed her Mom, for she smiled and said, "My, my, my, you are a little sleeper, aren't you?"
Nala grunted and kissed her mom on the cheek "what's for breakfast?" she asked, rubbing the fake sleep from her eyes.
"Eggs, you like them scrambled right?" Her mom asked. Nala nodded, and got herself a glass of water to drink, and in five minutes she had her eggs. After another five minutes past, the eggs were gone and Nala was wipping her mouth with her napkin. "That was really good Mom" Nala said, getting up and grabbing her coat. She opened the door and walked outside.
"Be back by dark!" Her mom called out to her. Nala nodded and waved back to her mother, and headed down to mainstreet.
She walked into the pharmacy, and right up to the manager, who looked up from his work when he heard footsteps coming in "Nala!" He said, "What can I do for you today?" He asked her. Ever since she had started healing Glacier, she had been going to the pharamcy to get the ointment everyday
"The ointment please" she said. The man turned around and got the ointment off the shelf "1.50" He said, handing her the ointment, and holding out his hand. She put the money in it, put the ointment in her pocket, thanked him, and walked out of the store.
A cold wind hit her face as she left the store. She shivered, but continued on. She walked to the frozen over lake and stared at it. She couldn't remember that last time it wasn't frozen. It must be at least 10 feet thick... She thought ...for planes to land on it. She looked up into the distance. She could see some mountains, but no sign of a plane.
"Maybe he's forgotten me..." she said to herself, and looked down, and smiled sadley as a tear drop fell onto the ice. She blinked and shook the tear away, and turned herself away from the mountains, and walked away.

After spending her day outside running errands and such, Nala returned home. "I'm home!" she called to her mom, who was somewhere in the house. As soon as she had called she heard footsteps coming towards her.
"Nala!" her mom said, she seemed excited "Guess what?"
"Huh?" Nala said, putting down a bag of groceries
Her mom took a breath in "We're moving to New York!" Her mom said, she smiled excitedly, waiting for Nala's responce. But Nala coulf only gape at her mother in horror.
