The Spirit of the Wolves
This story was originally in my other account's journal, but was moved to me!
Chapter 4- Farewell
Nala looked at Glacier and smiled. He was improving a lot, he could walk around the cave, but he hadn't left the cave yet. He no longer needed the cream, but she put it on anyway. Glacier, who was getting his spunkyness back, resisted, but Nala managed to put it on after a while.
"Well Glacier, I guess you don't need me anymore" She said to him.
As if he understood her, he whined and jumped up on her, and began to lick her face
"Ah! Okay, okay!" Nala giggled, petting Glacier. Suddenly, Glacier stopped licking her and got off her, bowing her head and sitting next to her. Nala looked up to see Timber padding over to them, carrying something in his mouth. He dropped it at her feet, and sat down next to her.
In the dirt sat some sort of jem, then shined even in the dim cave. It sparkled, but not like the diamonds she had seen in town a couple of times on woman's fingers. No, this sparkle was different.
She reached out a nervous hand and touched it. The stone grew hotter and hotter, until she had to draw her hand away
"It's beautiful..." she said, almost whispering it. Timber pushed it towards her, as if the head didn't effect him, and whined.
"You want me to have it?" she asked him. She felt like... she didn't know. Maybe that he could understand her. He looked at her, and everything in his eyes said, yes.
She picked it up tentitavely, waiting for the burn. But this time, when she touched it, it got colder and colder until her fingers were tingling. She put it in her pocket, and felt it cool down.

Nala stared sadly at her village. She was at the point where she could see the entire village, and it made her sad to think that this could be the last time she would see this town. Tears sprang in her eyes, but she blinked them away. It made her even more sad to think about the wolves. There was no way she could tell them she wouldn't be back. But somehow, she thought that they knew somehow. She put her hand in her pocket and felt the stone. It warmed in her hand, but didn't burn as it did before.
She breathed in and began to walk in the direction of her village.
In a couple of minutes, she was at her front door, but she wasn't knocking. She took another breath in, and knocked on the door.
Her mother answered, and after a second recognized her daughter's face "Oh Nala!" she said, going fowards and hugging her
"Uh... hi mom..." Nala said, patting her mom on the back
Her mother broke the hug. "Oh, Nala! I was so worried! Where did you go? And... why do you smell like meat?" she asked, raising an eyebrow
"Mom, I'm fine." Nala said flatly
"Oh... well, okay, come inside" she said, turning around and walking into the house.
Nala followed her into the house, looking around. There was a pile of empty boxes next to the door. Here and there, there were full boxes, and where there should have been trinkets or pots or pans, there was just emtpy spots. She bit her lip and said nothing.
Her mother led her to the main room and sat down on the couch. Nala sat next to her.
"Where did you go?" Her mother asked her, but Nala just shook her head. Her mother would have a fit if she knew she was around wolves.
Her mother sighed and put her hand on Nala's knee. Nala just looked at it "Nala, we're moving to New York. I'm sorry, but we're going to."
Nala sucked in her lips and bit them, not saying anything
"Your father-" Her mother began, but Nala cut her off
"Just... don't talk about him..." Nala said sadly, looking at the ground. Her mother sighed and got up "The plane's in two days. You should start packing" She said, not intending to be mean, but she didn't know what to say
Nala shook her head slowly, and got up and went into her room, closing the door.
