The Capricorn Clan

Capricorn Clan Diary

A gentle breeze wafted along the long, flat leaves of the palm trees. Small birds flitted from tree to tree, investigating the fruits of the fauna for any insects, or other edible items. The insects themselves busily buzzed from one great flower to another, sucking up nectar and in turn ensuring that more flowers would be produced on the peninsula.
Far below, within the deep cloak of the sea, fish lazily undulated too and fro, looking for food, a mate, or just something interesting to satisfy their small minds. Every once in a while, the clam of the ocean, or of the world of air above, would be shattered as an animal made a kill; the flurry of feathers or the great bubbling and swishing of water caused everything but the two involved to flee, not wanting to be a part of the feast.
On very few instances, the world of water and air would come together in either a beautiful, or devistating dance. A large form, akin to both the animals of the air and those under the sea, would slowly mesh its body with those of the fish, seeming to slither into the water, and then choose either to stay there near the surface, or sink quickly and step lightly along the ocean floor.
These animals, children of the earth and its life-bringing liquid, seemed to fit their own place in this world. Around the island, the other animals all knew of their presence, and both respected and feared them. They were the Zondou, and they represented, in their height of growth and maturity, the dominant species on the Pokadille Peninsula.
Although they seemed at first to be meerly hunting, sleeping, and reproducing animals, as all of the other species around, the Zondou soon evolved a complex social structure. Within in the Clan, there are Elders, Leaders, the Zondou that make up the population, Younglings, and any stragglers who they pick up along the way. The intricacies of Zondou life, in itself, are greatly unknown, and kept secret from any other beings, less it become a foreign way of life.
What does the Capricorn Clan, the gathering and family of Zondou, have to offer? Depending on the Zondou, or, occasionally, the Hybrid of another species, the Clan can mean many things, and give or take many things. The only way to truly know the Zondou is to join their clan, and the only way to do that is to venture into the world of these special Hybrids, and learn what it is to be a Zondou.

There are many sounds at the beach: the waves crashing against the sand, the gentle breeze wafting along the palm trees, the movements of small sea-faring animals. Beautiful sounds, at least to some. Especially beautiful to the Capricorn Clan leader, K'iamari.

The brightly-colored Hybrid smiled softly as he let his gaze sweep his territory. Not only was there a large, open beach area, but there was also a small spattering of jungle-like trees, and a few caves, natural and Hybrid-made. Overall, the area was quite balanced, as far as natural occurances were concerned.

Although most of the caves had relativly small openings, only large enough for one or two Hybrids to enter at a time, near the middle of the jungle area there was a lone cave, much larger than the others. It stretched almost five Hybrids tall, and that many wide, at least. This was the main residence of the Capricorn clan; many a meeting would be held in this cave, along with any other business that needed attending to.

Thanks to a network of smaller offshoots in the main cave, K'iamari and his associates could live quite easily without looking for new residences. If any business needed to be conducted concerning the Capricorn clan, this was the place for it.

K'iamari was far away from the main cave, today; he was out on the beach, getting ready to do some fishing, and maybe survey the territory yet again for any new Hybrids. He was happy to accept anyone willing to come here, but he wanted to make sure that no one would come in unexpected; the Clan was not yet as strong as some of its brother organizations, so K'iamari had to work extra hard to keep his fellow Zondou safe.

The fish-like Hybrid waded into the salty surf, taking a deep breath as he submerged himself completely. Today was a rather lazy day for him; no one had come around, for help or just for company, and K'iamari was getting rather bored.

Gabriel had spotted his clan leader from the beach edge and began towards him. It would be his first meeting of the zondou and he was growing rather nervous as he neared. Golden scales shined radiantly as he continued to step forward and the sun seemed to shine off him perfectly, making it clear that someone was approaching. As K'iamari entered the ocean's water, Gabriel smiled softly and bowed. His form was now within a foot of his leader and he wished to be respectful.

After the short bow, he lifted his form and spoke out in his impressively deep voice, "Greetings K'iamari. I have come to pay my respects.."

K'iamari raised his head as Gabriel approached, turning it to the other Hybrid only after he had spoken. "Greetings, fellow of the clan," He said, repeating the bow that had been bestowed upon him. The Zondou stepped out of the water, shaking himself off lightly and breathing deep the sea air.

"Have you been here long?" K'ia asked, his eyes traveling along the curves and dips of the island he called home. Personally, this could be the only place in the world and he would not mind; surrounded by ocean, K'iamari was perfectly at home, and it delighted him to see another Hybrid willing to join the clan.

Gabriel shook his head no and smiled faintly, "No, I have only just arrived a moment ago.. I had the intentions to join the clan as soon as I had heard of it." His voice sounded much calmer than he was feeling inside. Though he already wore the clan's charm, he still worried K'iamari would not approve of him. With no family or friends to turn to, the clan was all he had at the moment.

Still smiling faintly, he looked around, seeing that they were the two visable zondous on the island, "I must admit, however, that I expected there to be more here.. I take it that this clan is new?" Whether or not the clan was truly new, Gabriel himself was new to the idea of formal groups where you could belong. Before he took his long journal to meet the leader of the clan he chose to be a part of, he had been a loner, wandering the world of Drachenwelt on his own.

"Welcome to our home," K'ia said, smiling a little and turning his eyes back to Gabriel. "I am honored that you are interested in the clan; we are a peaceful group, and welcome any who want to join," He continued, nodding a little. Some Hybrids looked down on the Zondou for not building armies or plotting takeovers, but K'iamari was not about to get his clan mixed up in any unnecessary violence.

K'ia shared Gabriel's glance, nodding slowly. "Yes, we are not only new, we are rather isolated, so members are slowly come upon. I hope you do not mind; you are one of the first members of the clan, and the first Zondou to call upon my presence," K'ia had been worried that clan members would not want to speak to him, out of either fear or too much respect, so Gabriel's presence was comforting.

Gabriel smiled, glad to hear all that his new leader had spoken. It was a wonderful feeling to belong, even if his new home was slightly barren in the sense of other zondou. Glancing around again, to get a better feel for the new territory, he couldn't help but continue smiling, "This area is absolutely beautiful.." he couldn't help but whisper below his breath. He did not mean to be disrespectful in the least, but the land was more pleasing to the eye than he could have imagined, it almost seemed like a tropical get-away.

Turning his gaze back about K'ia, he continued to smile, his warm expression giving him an absolutely adorable appearance, "I do not mind in the least, it just came as a surprise to me, sir." The word of formality had come in respect towards the larger zondou, though he already felt comfortable and at home. Waving his tail slightly, he breathed in the warm air around him, "I am quite pleased by this location, I find it perfect..."

"Ahh, I agree!" K'ia's smile broadened extensively and his eyes lit up in happiness. His hearing was quite acute; Gabriel would have to be thinking to himself for K'ia not to hear him. "This land is simply magestic, ne? An amazing place for everyone to co-exist, from the Zondou to the fish."

K'iamari took a few steps to the side of Gabriel, coming almost face-to-face with him. "This land and its inhabitants are my responsibility. Any threat to this paradise will not be tolerated." He nodded solemnly, continuing past Gabriel, toward a tree. A soft sigh escaped the Zondou's lips as he plopped rather unceremoniously down under the tree, in the shade. "My, my, but it is hot today, ne?" He chuckled softly, raising a paw to wipe his brow. "The ocean will work up a sweat at this rate."

Gabriel turned to look towards his leader with a look of slight concern on his maw. He understood already that K'iamari was a very peaceful zondou, but did he truly wish to have a peace with their prey? Possibly a bit slow on Gabriel's end, the zondou began to ask quietly, "..But leader.. do we not eat the fish?" His voice was timid because although Gabriel was not certain of how foolish this question may have been, he still felt silly asking it.

Orange colored cheeks turned a pale pink as his large, super zondou leader came nearly face to face with him. Having been alone for a great deal of his life, the male was still unused to company, let alone such a kind and generous one. The many times Gabriel ran across another hybrid, it usually ended up being a hungry tigon or an antsy foxen. Not often did he meet a hybrid willing to both give him time as well as not attempt to eat him.

Following K'iamari over towards the tree, the young male took a polite bow before bringing himself to sit. He hoped his lack of permission would be fine in this simple instance. It did not seem as if his leader was one very strict on rules.

((Nice corn-eating picture there, Kieko. XDDD Have a fun trip. <3))

K'iamari nodded slowly, a knowing smile coming to his face. "We eat the fish, yes; this island is rather isolated, as you know, and as such is a little world onto its own. Everyone must work together for the betterment of the whole; we are in a life cycle with the fish, the trees, the birds: everything. We must respect the fish by not killing them for anything beside our needs." K'iamari watched Gabriel, his eyes traveling along the other Hybrid's body. He was quite fit, and had beautiful markings, although he seemed to be extremely timid. K'iamari wondered why he was like that, but he wasn't about to push. He just hoped that Gabriel would be happy and eventually think of him as an equal, and not just a leader who Gabriel could not approach.
