Thenin’s arm was pounding with pain; he floated in and out of consciousness, catching glimpses of people and feeling sudden surges of heat and pain go through his arm. He dreamed of Doctors and Lanya hovering over him, he even thought he heard the preacher’s voice at one point of time.

It is a very odd thing to wake up in a bed that is not your own, and in a house that you do not recognize. It feels like your entire life was a dream and that what you are waking up to is the true reality. This is exactly how Thenin felt when he woke up and peered around the room. Slowly certain things became familiar, along the walls there were beakers filled with various liquids, powders, and instruments. Near the base of the wall was a large bowl stained red in the center from blood and a long pointed knife.
Thenin was now sure that it had not been a dream, not because of the various beakers, and the pointed knife, not because of the realization that he was in the Doctors house, not even because of the splint that was attached to his arm and the pain from the broken bone that made him shiver. What made Thenin realize that everything was not a dream was because his father was sleeping in the chair next to the bed. In Thenin’s mind his father was the strongest person in the world, and yet here he was, sleeping so peacefully.
The door creaked open and the Doctor walked in, noticing that Thenin was awake he smiled and pointed to his father. “He hasn’t left your side, not even for meals.” The Doctor shook his head in disappointment. Then stopped and looked over at Thenin “You have been asleep for five days you know” The smile that had been on his face up till now seemed to melt off as he became more serious “We found you just outside the cage. When we took you away the vampire kept screaming and shouting at us. I expect she had been planning on biting you. Even now the council is deciding what to do with it, the vampire I mean.” His frown straitened out but you could still see that his eyes were sad. He glanced back over to Thenin’s father. “And without Jon there to stop them they probably will verdict the death sentence”
