Chapter Four : Testing - Part Two

Chapter 4

When we went into the next room Sue was still scribbling on her clipboard.

“Okay guys what I need you to do is help these sick people get better.” Sue said.
“What?” Jillian said.
“You guys gotta heal these sick people.” Sue said

We all looked at the sick elderly people.

“How are we supposed to help them when we don’t have any proper tools?” Amy asked.
“Exactly,” Sue said, “Okay guys begin !”

We all went to an elderly person.

“Just to let you know,” Sue began, “ Each one of these elderly people have arthritis. All you hafta do is cure them. Find the power deep inside of you and you’ll have the power to heal them.”
“Wow that was kinda cheesy wasn’t it?” Destiny said.
“Yeah I know,” Sue said looking down at her shoes.

Nathan tried healing the sick person, but he ended up twisting his spine. Destiny gave the elderly person a light massage and she felt much better. But that didn’t count.
Jillian read the elderly person a book to ‘soothe her mind’. Amy went to Joe’s Pizza shop across the street and gave the elderly man a pizza.
But when Jane went to help the elderly person she kept thinking in her head, “Find the power deep inside of you, and you’ll have the power to heal them.” It kept running through her mind the whole time. She went up to the elderly man and closed her eyes and opened her palms out faced down. She felt the power inside of her and embraced the feeling ! Her palms were starting to shake and glow in a light green colour. Then a light sheet of green dust fell on the elderly man and when she opened her eyes, and the elderly man got up and started dancing !

“Amazing!” Sue said.

Sue scribbled more on her clipboard.

“I can’t believe it,” Jane said.
“Yeah Sue hasn’t turned one page on her clipboard and yet she can write so much on it?” Jillian said, “How does that work?”

The next door didn’t lead to room, it lead to a outdoor arena. That day it was snowing and it was freezing. The landscape was gorgeous. A flat sheet of ice covered half the ground. Under the sheet of ice was water slowly swishing back and forth. Some of the ground was still here, but the rest was under a blanket of snow. There was also a campfire ground with logs about 10 metres long stacked upon one another. Next to the campfire, was some rope. The rope was long and rough and made out of straw tightly bound together.

“This is natural ground that we grew specifically for this test.” Sue said, “This is where your next test will be held.”
“W-why d-does it have t-to be so f-f-freezing here?” Amy asked.
“Well it is the winter.” Sue said.
“What are we doing here Sue?” Destiny asked.
“A-and why is it s-so c-cold?” Amy added.
“With the materials in the arena, you will have to build shelter.” Sue said.
“We’re camping out here?!” Jillian asked surprised.
“Nope, we’d get sued if we did that!” Sue said, “You guys get started I’ll be in the other room checking on you guys.”
“You’re just gonna leave us here?!” Nathan asked confused.
“Of course not,” Sue said, “I’ll be monitoring you’re every move in the other room with a hidden camera.”

Sue went into a different door and left.

“How are we going to do this?” Jane asked.
“Well we can’t cheat since she’s watching us.” Nathan said softly.
“Why don’t we just stack up the logs and bind them together with the rope.” Jillian asked.
“Alright that could work.” Amy said, “But those logs look heavy.”
“We’ll let Nathan hold it.” Destiny said.

Nathan tried picking up one of the logs. They really were heavy.

“Ugh, these are heavy even for me.” Nathan said.
“Can you walk?” Jane asked.

Nathan groaned.
“Barely….” Nathan said while struggling to walk with the huge log on his back.
“Drop the log!” Jane shouted.
“I…..can’t.” Nathan said. “I can’t push it off my back.”
“We gotta help him!” Destiny yelled.

We all ran to Nathan’s aid and helped him push off the log. We all tried our hardest to push the log off of him.

“It won’t…..budge.” Jillian said.

We all were exhausted after trying to push the log off, but Nathan was groaning in pain and agony.

“What are we gonna do?!” Jane asked.
“Maybe if we make it slippery it’ll slide off.” Amy stated.
“Well we can’t use snow, a little thing called frostbite.” Jillian said.
“Wait what about mud?” Destiny said.
“Mud?” Jane asked.
“Yeah once I saw that if you put mud on your hands and hold a pencil it’ll slip off. It should work but it’s just a theory.” Destiny said.
“It doesn’t matter it has to work or Nathan’s gonna be crushed like a walnut.” Amy said.
“Thanks.” Nathan said.
