Chapter 6
Sue rushed Nathan to the emergency room. So much for ‘He’s gonna be fine’. She popped her head out of the emergency room and said, “It’s okay guys, you can just eat your lunches. If you want to eat more help yourself to the fridge.” We all ate our lunches while having a light discussion about what was happening to us in the past few hours.
“Can you believe that we have powers?” Jillian asked.
“I know this is so surreal!” Amy exclaimed.
“It’s like something plucked out from a fantasy world!” Destiny added.
“It’s crazy how our whole lives changed in just 2 days!” said Jane.
“You got that right!” Destiny said.
“I just realised something…”Jane began.
“What?” Amy asked.
“We’re in here having a happy conversation about whatever,” Jane said, “And Nathan’s in there fighting for his life!”
“Don’t worry he can take it.” Jillian said, “Besides, I’ve had worse.”
Jillian had any type of physical damage that was already done to her body. Scars, burns, stitches, wounds, you name it she has it. None of the scars were noticeable though. Most were covered by her clothes anyways so it wasn’t that bad. Whatever she wore no one would notice.
“Well, you’ve never held a log for 20 minutes on your back.” Jane said.
“I’ve had a metal girder on my back for 15 minutes once.” Jillian said.
We all groaned.
“We’re eating Jill, we don’t need to hear this.” Amy said.
“What you don’t believe me?” Jillian asked. “ Because I will show the scar I got from that.”
“NO !” Everyone exclaimed.
Sue came out of the emergency room.
“He just needs to rest. Then he’ll be fine. So have all of you had you lunch yet?” Sue asked.
“Yup.” Destiny answered.
“Alright to the next room.” Sue said happily as though nothing had happened.
When we all stepped into the room we saw small, old fashioned clock, gloves, a screwdriver and a big circle with a design in the centre.
“Now, this is your final test,” Sue said. “All you have to do is turn any of these items into a sandwich.”
We all stared blankly at Sue.
“We have to turn a clock into a sandwich.” Jane said.
“Yup.” Sue said.
“An edible sandwich?” Jillian asked.
“Yes.” Sue answered.
We all stared blankly at Sue again.
“I’ll just leave you guys to your work.” Sue said. Sue left into another room with her clipboard, scribbling away.
“Okay, lets get started?” asked Destiny.
“What the hell are we supposed to do with a freaking clock?! It’s a clock!” Amy exclaimed.
We went up to the supplies we were given and knelt down to see what to do. Amy took the gloves which had a funny print on the top.
“What’s with these gloves?” Amy said, “They have these funny circles with a design on it.”
“It’s probably the logo of the company or something.” Jane said.
Jane moved the clock into the centre of the circle so we can all have a good look at the objects. We all knelt down around the circle to find out what to do. Amy put her hand on the ground and began to think. She thought in her head, “Clock to sandwich, clock to sandwich…..”. kept thinking about that over and over in her head. The picture of the clock and sandwich kept appearing in her head, when suddenly, a beam of blue light went through all the lines of the circle. The clock became electric blue. There was a light.
“Oh my god are we dead???” Jillian asked confused.
