Vanilla's Parlor

User Image

This is where LadySun takes care of her Scoop, Vanilla. Please, may only those who have been invited post here.

Vanilla’s Note

Who can say "no" to Vanilla? This flavor gets along with just about everyone. Always the peacemaker and the diplomat, Vanilla does his best to keep the peace amidst the flavors with more attitude. But don't let that make you think that Vanilla isn't armed with his own sweet charm.

About Vanilla: (In progress)

Name: Vanilla
Age: Early twenties?
Family: Lady Sun, by extension, also Shiaree D'Liriel (Lady Sun's owner) and her family.
Marital Status: In love with Chocolate
Sexual Preference: As far as we know, female...
Prospects: Sweet and laid back, Vanilla could never give off the 'bad boy' appeal, but he's certainly the sort you could take home to mom. He's a little naive...okay, -very- naive, when it comes to emotional things, but he's pretty good at trying to keep people happy, so he can usually make up for it.

Likes: Cold things, the colours white and blue, learning new things, building vocabulary, spending time with Lady Sun, keeping people happy
Dislikes: Heat, making messes, cleaning up his messes (though he always does), people being sad
Favourite foods: Yogurt, especially strawberry flavoured yogurt
Hated foods: Hard candies
Favourite Scents: ...vanilla
Hated Scents: anything particularly strong

Personality:
Relationships

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough: Van-chan really likes Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. He thinks he's a fascinating Scoop, and hopes to be a bit like him when he grows up.

Strawberry: Vanilla hasn't really talked with this scoop much, but he's certain she's very sweet!

Chocolate: Vanilla -loves- Chocolate. He considers her to be his best friend, really. They always seem to have lots of fun together, and he loves giving her bearhugs and cuddles her a lot.

Buttercrisp: Vanilla really likes Buttercrisp. He's pretty sure the two of them can get to be pretty good friends given time.

Mint Chocolate Chip: Vanilla thinks Mint has grown into a very pretty young girl! She seems rather spunky, too, although both of these seem to be causing a lot of controversy amongst the Scoops!

Rocky Road: Vanilla hasn't really talked with Rocky Road yet, but he's sure he's a great guy!

Brownie: Vanilla thinks that Brownie's pretty sweet, if a little quiet.

Birthday Cake: Vanilla hasn't really met this Scoop yet, but he's certain that Birthday Cake would be the life of the party.

Scaramel: Vanilla likes Scaramel a lot. He looks on him as a bit of a younger brother figure. He's a bit worried about how much Scaramel likes Mint, though, because Vanilla's pretty sure Mint and Buttercrisp really like each other, and he doesn't want to see Scaramel hurting.

Blueberry: Vanilla thinks of Blue as one of his closest friends, even if she was really young when they last met. She's sweet and shy, and he sort of likes to take care of her.

Raspberry: Vanilla likes this Scoop, too. Though she seems rather quiet.

Pistachio: Vanilla hasn't really talked with this Scoop much, but Tutti seems to like him a lot.

Curse Reversed: Vanilla likes Curse a lot. He was glad that the other Scoop took the time to make sure Blueberry wasn't feeling too left out.

Story

Shiaree had spoken at such length about the joys of adopting a child, that I realized I must have one as well. It wasn't just the idea of taking care of the little rascals-- I got enough of that just helping her with hers. But the thought that I was missing out on something, that perhaps it would make me seem less like a machine...for that, I was willing to take a few risks.

..I never -imagined- that I would get stuck with the worst possible scenario.

You see, I've had an aversion to ice cream ever since I took Shiaree's lot out for it shortly after I came to work for her. This is simply because it's messy, sticky, and very difficult to clean off of squirming children.

Imagine my surprise when the first of these strange adoptive children shops I should come across would be one that sells ice-cream kids. Still, I was determined not to miss out on this fundamental thing, and adopted one. Vanilla, because it was plain and hopefully would therefore be less difficult to handle.

It was..ice cream. I watched it. It did nothing. Then, finally, bored with the bowl of ice cream and thoroughly convinced that I had paid money for nothing, I left it in favour of returning to my chambers and turning off for a few hours.
Quietly, almost imperceptibly the ice cream starts to melt. Soon, the whole bowl is filled with milky white soup instead of frozen domes. It lies as still as a placid lake for quite some time.

Then with utter care and slowness, a form begins to stir within. From somewhere deep in the bowl, a head peaks out. The liquid runs off the bleach-blonde sugar hair to drip back into the bowl. Two large blue-gray eyes open to survey the world. Blinking, they find the room around them to be empty. A very soft cry passes through icy lips as Vanilla wonders where his care-taker could be.

Fortunately for Vanilla, LadySun is a human computer, and thus able to pick up on sounds and differences in her surroundings quite easily. Quickly, she returns from her 'sleep' status and heads into the room where she had left the bowl of ice cream, knowing that the differences have come from it.

She's startled, briefly, when she sees the adorable little face peeking out of the bowl, and then she realizes that she was indeed not ripped off, and has more than likely bitten off more than she can chew. Sighing, she brushes the little guy's sugar hair gently,
"Shhh...don't cry," she whispers, sliding him out of his bowl and ignoring the ice cream that drips all over her clothing and 'body',
"I will take care of you. You'll see."

Vanilla looks up at her, heart-meltingly blue eyes wide in a rather pathetic expression, and then curls against her, enjoying the comfort he can take in her presence.
Journal Entry:

This is quite...challenging. I am not sure I was programmed to deal with the sorts of situations that seem to be popping up constantly. Vanilla is a very demure child, thankfully, but it is still more than what I am accustomed to.

That is, generally I can leave the children in the hands of their mother-- Shiaree, and leave if things become too difficult to handle. In this case, I cannot. He is mine, my responsibility.

Still, even I cannot deny that it is a pleasant experience. Waking up at odd hours isn't an issue as I rarely 'sleep', and don't particularly need that much of it. I hate to see him cry, though. I wish that he would find some other way to express his needs.
It was a very strange feeling. Inside he felt as cold as ever, but outside the normal heat was burning him up. He could never sleep like this. Wearily, Vanilla slid out of his bowl and crawled off toward the kitchen.

As he came to the refrigerator, he pressed his whole body against it to open the handle. As the door swung open and the light invited him into this cool haven, he climbed up on to the lowest shelf and shut himself inside.

As he finally slept, the cold began to do strange things to his little body. Some of his sugars went stiff and changed to a deep navy color in a clothing shell about him. His hair lengthened, the strands becoming lighter and wilder. And most noticeably, he grew in size as some of his ice cream body re-hardened until he filled up the whole shelf. But he only slept.

Journal Entry:

Yeah, I know it's been a while since I last posted in this thing. A long while. But taking care of a baby, as well as helping Shiaree with her various monsters, has been time consuming. As a living computer, I never thought that I would be pressed for time-- I operate in milliseconds the way that most humans operate in minutes, but it seems that this isn't true. Even though my mind works so quickly, my body does not.

At any rate, I do love my 'son'. This little bit of ice cream has given me much joy in many ways, though some of it has been quite frustrating. When you have no idea how to take care of your infant, and noone can tell you how to because it's made of ice cream..well, that can make for a rather difficult road.

It's been worth it, though. He's grown up into a handsome and intelligent young boy. I'm very proud of him.
Journal Entry:

I suspect that soon I will be handing this diary over to Vanilla. It is not that I don't trust him with it at the moment...he could probably do a decent job of writing in it despite the fact that he still has much to learn as far as reading and writing go....it is more that handing it to him would mean he's grown up, and I wish to delay that a bit longer.

I suppose this is more of that human sentiment I never understood before taking on the responsibility of a child. I never realized just how hard it must have been for my Mistress to see her children grow up. I once caught her crying shortly after Cera grew into an adult, and I had thought it odd then, but I see now how difficult it is.

I think I will take him out for yogurt tonight. He does so love that stuff.
Journal Entry:

I took Vanilla shopping the other day. He is such a sweet boy...he decided that he would like to get gifts for all his Scoop friends. Of course I allowed him to do so.

After he dropped them off at the various houses they belonged in with notes of explanation, I dropped him off at the Sweet Tooth. From what I gather, his experience there was quite interesting. Mint and Buttercrisp are getting along quite well, but little Scaramel feels left out, and Vanilla's quite worried about him.

Vanilla also mentioned a little Scoop named Blueberry that had caught his attention. Sadly, he seems to be under the impression that attempting to be friends with her would hurt his friendship with the other Scoops, though I can't be certain why he thinks that.

My mistress, Shiaree, has expressed some interest in perhaps acquiring a Scoop as well. I wish her only the best of luck.

Vanilla? I have never seen him before.

"Blood? You look kind of anxious. Or confused. What's wrong?"

Oh, just deliver the gift and stop staring at me. There is so much concern in your eyes... I can't look at them.

"Heehee, you're blushing again."

Bloodbath huffs, then quickly pushes the small object under the door to Vanilla's parlour. It is a small gift, wrapped in crisp white paper.

White again. He is rather becoming fond of that color.
