Brief History: Rayen's family hails originally from the coast of Blackgrime Lake, although she has not been home for many years now. As a young adult she hunted the forests for small game for her family, roaming the land without much fear in her heart. Until the revival of the Neverlin cult there wasn't more than wild animals in the forests to threaten them.
She couldn't remember the fire, but the smoke. It came in the night, filling her lungs and choking the air around her. A streamlined beast stalked the streets of her forest village, chasing down children and adults alike as a piercing howl echoed from its lungs. Kage they called it. Smokewalker. Rayen did the only thing she could do, and fled. She knew nothing of if any had survived.
For some time she saw no other kage, but resented them. She went from place to place around the Red Kingdom, hearing just whispers of the return of the cult and the terrible things they would do. She heard of the depraved hell and the monstrous cerberus that had been released, and then finally she heard stories of a just and righteous soul that had been brought to the lands. Rayen could deal with that. Although her dislike of kage had not waned, she sought out the older and wiser of the cultists and offered them her hand.
'To defend the land from those kage released by the power-hungry mages,' she had said, 'But I cannot do it alone.' After some time of deliberation, the elder mages bestowed upon her the gift of companionship in the form of Mitternacht, a priestly with a pure soul; the soul of a long-dead knight. They would protect the weak and travel across all of Dragon's Maw.
Someday, she thought, she would find the smokewalker that destroyed her home.

Personality: Kind of a blank slate. Dirt mostly wanders where she pleases and tends to mimic the last thing she saw, if anything at all. She doesn't speak but tries to imitate the sounds she hears. The result is a babbling and often incoherent conversation to follow. Dirt's decaying body is covered with moss that masks some of the smell, but not enough for her to approach without warning. She is often found wallowing near barrow downs (burial sites) in puddles of mud that also help mask her stench. She only becomes aggressive when provoked, and is typically quite harmless.
