[Background] Millions of years ago, Starscream was once a prestigious scientist on Eotron. An explorer and a xenologist, he ventured to a great variety of planets studying their native life, atmospheres, and environment for his degree in xenology in the famous Iacon Science Academy. He was hated by many for being arrogant and screechy, but he didn't care - he loved his work, and his partner, a large mech named Skyfire, was all he needed. As far as he was concerned, his life was complete...

Until Skyfire disappeared.

They were exploring a young, organic world when they separated to explore different portions of the planet, and Starscream lost contact with Skyfire. He searched everywhere, hemisphere to hemisphere, pole to pole, but he could not find his friend. He did not give up his search until he finally had to leave the planet or risk running out of energy halfway home. He told himself he would gather a rescue team to come back with him and find Skyfire, but he didn't anticipate everyone's dislike of him - no help was to be found simply because Starscream was asking for it, and he was soon expelled from the Academy. Devastated, Starscream could only try to move on, and eventually, he enlisted in the War Academy - and not a day too soon. The war began halfway through his schooling - his scientific prowess was valuable, and his experience in the War Academy made him even more sought after. Remembering his rejection and humiliation at the claws of the Science Academy was all the incentive Starscream needed to side with the Deceptighan cause. He would show them...

Unfortunately, as the war progressed, Eotron rapidly deteriorated until it was no longer inhabitable, and when the Eobots fled with their solar energy collector, the Deceptighans were quick to follow. However, they crashed on the planet called Earth, and most of those in the crash lost their memories of the last two years. With his memories restored and the Ark inhabitable again and run by the newly-rediscovered Optimus Prime, Starscream's future is once again uncertain, but he's determined to trudge through it. It's not as if an uncertain future is uncharted territory.

[The Silent Screamer]

Starscream
The sun was bright, reflecting off the water and warming his wings nicely where he stretched them over his sandy patch of beach. The sand got into cracks and crevices in his armor he didn't even know he had, but he didn't care, enjoying basking too much with his head resting on his talons, tail curled around him and red optics dark as he dozed lightly.

Starscream loved how quiet the cove was, how isolated and peaceful. He hated how noisy the forest could be, hated how crowded the grasslands and area around the post office were, hated...

Well, he hated a lot of things. But he loved the cove. Here, he could be alone and at peace with nothing to bother him but the sound of the surf and the occasional curious crab.

With a drawn out sigh, Starscream tucked his wings against himself long enough to roll over without bending them, letting the sun warm the metal of his belly and the underside of his wings, drifting off to the sound of the surf.

Jazz
The Peace was fine and dandy, but there was nothing good that could not be made better with some music, in Jazz's opinion.
Courteous of the styling black and white mech Eoghan. As usual some modern tune was added to the usual quiet. A nice touch to Jazz maybe, who was curious about the aria, having never been to this part before. But to others enjoying the silence… maybe not so much.

He flicked his claw, the frames around his optics snapping together a couple of times in what could easily be described as a blink. The sand had quickly caved in around his claw when he stepped into it, and it got EVERYWHERE sinking into his joints and ridges and sticking to. A bit uncomfortable with this, he hesitated another moment, glancing around for another way over the sand. To his luck, he noticed large rock, scattered rather far from one another. But that was not too much of an optical. Cranking his music for inspiration he took a couple steps back, launching forward powerfully and landing powerfully on the rock, claws clinging to it as he looked for his next target.

Starscream
Starscream almost didn't notice his sanctuary had been violated until the sound of claws scraping on rock jolted him fully awake. He rolled sharply back to his feet, hissing when he scraped his wing on the way over. What was that horrible racket? The sound of claws on rock could be dismissed as combating crabs, but there was an awful noise which accompanied it, something that sounded like the awful noise the smaller, fleshling creatures called "music".

Starscream growled angrily and rose to his feet to shake sand from his wings, highly offended that the peace and quiet of the cove had been compromised. He had been here many times, and not once had he been disturbed. There was a first time for everything, of course, but that didn't mean he had to like it.

Jazz
calculating the distance and force needed for the next jump. he pulled it off of cource, though this time with a bit more show then he had the first time. twisting his body up when he landed on the rock. and balancing on just his claws. it was about that time that his visor blipped having picked up other significant movement in the aria. lifting his optics curiously, object located, magnify image, color spectrum selected.
"an what we got here?" he grinned in interest
having expected to see another Eoghan, but certainly not another Mech Eoghan, and especially not this particular Eoghan Mech. the colors, wings, streamline build. and of cource that constantly bitter face, linked together to make a perfect match in Jazz's memory processor.

"Screamer!" he called out followed by a surprised laugh. pushing himself from the rock and landing on all fours on another one.
Starscream was his real name. but Screamer was the name everyone had called him when they were Mechlings, Jazz had not seen this particular Mech since they were still getting upgrades.

Starscream
If he had fur or true feathers, Starscream would have bristled like a furious cat when he heard that horrible nickname from his sparkhood. He always hated that nickname - how dare someone call him that now.

Starscream turned his red glare to the direction of all the ruckus and scowled at the white mech bouncing along the rocks. He almost didn't recognize him at first, but it was hard not to - he could count the number of mechs he knew on one paw.

"Still acting like a fool, I see..." he growled mostly to himself as he crouched back down with all four feet tucked underneath himself in a pose of hostility. "...Jazz..."

[Where'd 'Ya Go? The Boomin' 'Bot]

Jazz
The previous encounter with Starscream was hardly placed on the back of Jazz’s mind after he had left the stubborn seeker to soak in the hot spring. In fact the discovery of a fellow Mech in the aria was pretty much all Jazz could think about, normally Jazz would not be to thrilled with seeing Screamer, Jazz preferred good nature fun Bots like Bumblebee, but Jazz found it amusing to get those sarcastic remarks, grimacing expressions, While at the same time being offered help and being hurt because of it.
Jazz hardly knew what to think of Starscream anymore, though he guessed the mild change was due to being with out another Mech for a while as well. Something Jazz could honestly relate to.

Since that day, Jazz found himself wandering back towards the cove and hot spring. Covering his curiosity with the simple explanation in his mind with “its just a casual walk” though keeping his optic sensors turned for any sign of the seeker, unable to help but wonder if his wing was properly repaired.
Knowing better then to go into the cove again, rocks or not, he would strut around it sticking to the grass. But either by bad timing on his part, or just that the Seeker didn’t come back since then, Jazz had not run into him yet.

“It's not about the salary it’s all about reality and makin’ some noise” The soft music was turned down to a comfortable level but still enough for Jazz to enjoy it, head held high, tails swishing in time to the music, casual stride breaking every so often as he snuck in some smooth move as the music took on a particularly enjoyable beat.
Tilting his head to the side, as he got closer to the aria he had known Screamer to be chilling, cranking the music again to see if he could annoy the seeker enough to draw him out, if of course he was there today.
"This is ten percent luck, twenty percent skill, fifteen percent concentrated power of will. Five percent pleasure, and fifty percent pain and a hundred percent reason to remember the name."

Starscream
Starscream lay crouched on his belly on a grassy part of the cliff overlooking the cove, his head held high and his optics offline with his talons crossed over each other in front of him. His pose was reminiscent of the great sphinx, not that he would use such a comparison. His wings were splayed as much as they could be to catch the sun as the ocean breeze wafted over him, one wing comfortably set in ground mode and the right stuck in flight mode.

After damaging his wing, Starscream had done everything he could think of to coax his self-repair systems to fix it, but the damage was too great. He needed an outside party with smaller claws or even hands to reach between the panels and fix the cables and gears that were stuck, but regardless of how much he missed the clouds, he was not yet willing to concede defeat and seek the help of the organic infidels that littered this land. He was Starscream - if he couldn't count on himself, he couldn't count on anyone.

Still, after so long, he terribly missed the clouds and the straight-line wind over his wings. He tried flying again, but it only sent agony through the injured wing and shoulder, so he remained earthbound. He only kept away the despair by laying in the grass overlooking the cove and basking in the sun. He dared not go down to the cove itself since he couldn't fly to blow out any sand which may have entered his systems.

Jazz
Ah well, it was what he expected at least, and he was partly grateful he would not have liked to go into the cove again.
Cutting off his long-range sensors, leaving the music at the volume he had set it at, the flightless Eoghan mech continued to along the grass skirts of the cove, trying to ponder an alternate form of entertainment. He didn’t like being alone; Jazz was far more comfortable with a group, but around here, that was rarely possible.
Turning up the music even more to try and give himself the illusion that there was more going on then there actually was.
Pausing from his stride Jazz glanced around where he sat, thinking of what he could do now. He could go to the mountains and see if he could find that one icky Eoghan he had met, she was nice. Or he could wander around the fields until he met of up with that other female, Wood. She didn’t even seem to happy to see Jazz around, though he knew it was because he could easily cause damage to plants, And he knew she loved plants. But he still found her just as intriguing, and he really just wanted some company. Maybe he could share some music with them.

From his stationary position a blip went off in his sensor systems is it slowly expanded to cover a larger aria, alerting him of a presence?
Jerking his head up surprised, he glanced around, but still the aria was void of anyone.

”Better not be glitchin’,” he grumbled softly, lifting his claw up to the side of his helmet and tweaking with the settings on his visor. But still, it showed that there was another significant life form in the aria, and STILL there was no one on the field of cove that his Optics or advanced vision could pick up.

Starscream
Starscream suddenly rose into view over the tall grass not far from Jazz, his damaged wing quivering faintly. He could not bear sitting still anymore even though moving hurt. He still refused to admit defeat and ask for help though. Maybe another soak in the hot spring would help the soreness at least for a little longer.

It was only because he was so sore that Starscream did not notice Jazz's music. He turned to start in the direction of the hot spring, his left front leg stiff and hitching with each step though he made no noise of complaint. To do so would be admitting to himself that he could not cope with his own stupidity.

Jazz
His visor blipped again, but this time giving a clear and definite location to the life form, zeroing in on it and zooming till he got a clear image, his optic shutters snapped closed a couple of times in a blink as he saw… none other then Starscream.
Music clicking off as he noticed the other Mech was retreating, but what stood out was of course the off set wing… and the stride that just gave away the obvious to Jazz. Starscream’s wing had not been properly repaired. Jazz was not sure if he should be surprised by that fact.

It seemed that the seeker had not noticed him, which was just fine with Jazz, he was curious to see what the Seeker was up to anyway.
Monitoring distance and scans Jazz began stalking Starscream once again staying out of sight and sensor readings.

[Splish, Splash, Mechs Taking a Bath]

Starscream
Starscream hated winter.

He carefully limped through the forest in an attempt to use the trees as a buffer against the chilled wind which crept into the crevices in his armor and made his wings ache. Any other time, he would hide in the hot spring near the river and let it keep him warm, but many others smaller than him had had the same idea the day before and made a horrible mess of it. It was filled with fur and feathers and, overall, was disgusting. He would have cleaned it out any other day, but he was too cold to stay in the open long enough to do so today.

Starscream paused between two trees and let himself hunch up and give a violent shudder as his cabling tried to lock up from the cold. It was the one thing he hated about being a flying mech - his systems were more temperature sensitive than the average mech's.

He sighed and tried to find a bigger tree to hide behind when the wind went straight into the connecting joints of his wings again. This would not be a problem if he was not so hateful and pushed everyone away from him. He had plenty of time in this land to make friends but, as was usual for him, had driven them all away. His constantly running systems as a mech were warm but not warm enough - if he could combine them with another's, he might not be so chilled and miserable, but no - as with all of the organics, he had driven away the one mech he had seen in what seemed like forever.

"I really do deserve to be alone..." he hissed to the wind.

Jazz
Jazz LOVED winter!

weather did not affect him, he was aware of temperature, but only from readings that his armor fed though his circuits. but other then that, his body heated him enough to not be affected by cold, and that of cource allowed him to enjoy winter as much as he liked. he loved the snow, loved how it covered everything in a gleaming white blanket, loved the sound it made when he walked on it, and he especially loved how slippery it was.

taking a running start, he jumped up slightly, landing on all fours, balancing himself as he landed on a hill and slid down it, a big grin on his face as his visor flashed happily, having way to much fun to focus on any problems he had now.

as he slid towards the bottom of the hill however, having to shifts to dodge trees now, something much larger and brighter moved into his path right at the bottom of the hill. optics brightening as he recognizes Starscream, and knowing that if he didn't do anything he was going to collide with the Seeker.

"Helms up bro!" he called to make himself known. trying to shift his footing to slow himself down, kicking himself up to flip over the other Mech, successfully avoiding a collision, landing hard on his feet and sliding into a tree.

Starscream
Starscream let out a startled squawk and ducked down when he heard Jazz yell. He was so startled both by the sudden and strangely coincidental appearance of the mech he had just been thinking of and the entrance the white mech had made that all he could do was stare stupidly at him for a moment before he finally regained his composure and screeched angrily, "What were you thinking?! What the slag was that?!"

Jazz
Jazz laughed as he pushed himself away from the tree, untangling himself from fallen branches and his slippery limbs. shaking himself off, rebooting a couple of systems that where offset from running into the tree. he looked up in time to see the the dumb struck look Starscream was giving him before he went off at him with the temper Jazz knew to be Starscream's.
"Pretty sweet yeah? did ya see the air I got?" he said grinning excitedly. "didn't clip ya did I?"

Starscream
Starscream glared heatedly at Jazz. He would have stormed over and used his talons to wipe off that smug grin if they just were not so cold. Instead, he demanded, "What is wrong with you?! Charging through the woods like some rogue beast, flying through the air without wings - you're going to take down the trees!" As he ranted, he could not prevent himself from shivering visibly, huddled in on himself. He knew the cold was not affecting Jazz the same way - a flying mech's systems could not be insulated as thoroughly since Starscream had to be able to sense every subtle change in the air while he was flying.

[Summer Storms]

Starscream
Starscream swore vilely as his audio receptors were assaulted mercilessly by the deafening roar of thunder, dark storm clouds churning overhead. What had first appeared to be a light shower, perhaps a small downpour, had quickly become a full-out tempest. He had nearly immediately been grounded for fear of being struck out of the air by lightning.

The rain was more an inconvenience than anything else, running smoothly down his metal frame or draining through his waterproof systems, so Starscream first thought he could simply sit down and wait it out, but the storm only grew worse and worse the longer he waited. Now, he worried even sitting in the grasslands was dangerous - he was like a lightning rod with his metal body as the largest target in a field of nothing but grass as far as he could see. He knew he was waterproof, but he was quite certain he was not lightning-proof.

Unfortunately, with his size and shape, shelter was hard to come by. After finally making his way to the rocky outcroppings leading from the grasslands to the mountains, Starscream kept his optics trained for any caverns or even large boulders he could tuck himself against to protect himself against the tempest, but nothing was big enough to accommodate him, and the storm was only growing more violent and so was his panic.

Twincast
Twincast didn’t plan out this day very well… had he bothered to check the environment before he left the cave, he would not be stuck in the growing storm, trying to clamber up the wet rocky slopes, with the threat of lightning, and trying to keep a tiny pink Pygmy from being blown away with the powerful wind.
Keeping her clutched to his chest took away the use of one of his claws, making the journey over soggy rock and loose gravel that much more difficult. But the blue Eobot kept his cool, paying no mind to the booming thunder around him, noticing very easily that it was getting closer to the aria, and that was very dangerous.

Grunting thickly as he dug his talons into the ground as a powerful gust of wind struck him in the broad chest, causing him to slide back a little. Snapping his beak a couple of times and trying to hobble forward to get a better grip.
”We’re nearly back Rosanna, just hold on okay?” he tried to call, his voice being swept away by the wind.

Starscream
Starscream finally managed to find a large enough boulder to tuck himself behind, but it was really no use - the wind was too unpredictable and violent and only swirled the rain around him, mostly into his face. It also did not shelter him from the lightning or thunder.

This would not do - this simply would not do, but what else was there to try? Quickly running out of options, Starscream started further up the mountain, letting out a startled shriek when lightning struck a tree not far from him. Panicked now, he started scrambling over the gravel and rocks in a desperate attempt to find something which would keep him from being the next victim.

Twincast
Unable to keep himself from jumping, and ducking down when he heard lightning clap down onto the earth, allot closer then he was comfortable with, but it was the sounds he picked up after the thunder registered in his audios that caused him to look around, frowning in confusion.
Twincast was not known for his amazing visual sensors, and the storm was making it very difficult to see much of anything in good detail. But he heard it very well, and after a moment of studying, he realized that there was another Eoghan trying desperately to get out of the storm.
What was interesting about that though, was that it was registering as a mech Eoghan,
Optics narrowing slightly, of all the Eoghan he expected to meet up here, he had not expected another mech, but that suited him just fine, he was far more likely to assist another mech then an organic, the organics had allot of places they would be able to call shelter, but due to the Eobot’s size and bulk however, it was allot more difficult to come by, and not to mention there metal bodies were more of a liability with lightning this close.
Lifting his head up, and adjusting the volume in his speakers so he could make sure his volume was heard over the storm.
“Calm yourself!” he called out, heaving himself forward onto another rock, a small pink masked and shielded head turning to peer out curiously from his claws.
“Proceed east west for 50 feet. there is a cavern that will get you out of this storm!”

Starscream
As a flight-gifted mech, Starscream's vision was better developed than his hearing, but even then, all he could make out against the rain stinging against his face was a pair of blue optics cutting through the darkness and a dark silhouette with two horn-like protrusions on its head. That, combined with the way the other mech - and it had to be a mech to be that big - raised the volume of his voice, made Starscream think it must have been Jazz. Primus, how did they keep running into each other like this?

Still, he was not about to complain when he registered exactly what the other mech said. Shelter! Starscream did not bother to reply, knowing his voice would be lost in the wind. Instead, he turned to follow the directions given to him, crimson optics bright to see through the darkness. He could not resist letting out a happy noise when he saw the cavern in question, and he scrambled over the rocks to duck inside, pleased to discover it was plenty big enough for even an Eoghan his size, his wings in no danger of scraping against the rocks.

[Come Into My Cave, Pretty Birdy]

Rosanna
"Starscream! Starscream!" Rosanna sang happily, the tiny Femme bouncing into the nest that Twincast had let the seeker use in the time that he had spend there. The Femme had certainly not been to shy around the seeker, and absolutely thrilled that someone else was staying as there guest for the past three days.
The storm had tamed up the evening before, but it left the mountain very wet and soggy, and very difficult to travel on. so Twincast proposed that they let it dry a couple of days, and of course inviting Starscream to remain with them in the mean time. feeding him energon, and letting him have the nest during his stay,
Twincast was happy for the company, and found himself enjoying conversation. though Twincast had stepped it up a little, offering a little more energon then there rations, and doting on the seeker with complements and praise.

"Wake up~ Wake up~ The sun is really bright today Starscream!" the Pygmy continued to chirp happily. flopping herself down in front of Starscream's beak. "Wakey wakey~"

Starscream
Starscream awoke very sluggishly. He had quickly grown very accustomed to Twincast's nest, having not slept so comfortably since he fled Cybertron. For once, he was not continually awakened by wind tickling his circuits or insects buzzing in his audios or animals bouncing on his chassis. He was able to recharge peacefully from dark until day and without awakening stiff and cranky. He could get to like this...

...except for Rosanna's high-pitched voice.

With a whirring groan, Starscream forced himself to bring his optics online and awaken, groggily lifting his head. "I'm up - I'm up..." he grumbled.

Rosanna
Rosanna giggled up at Starscream when he lifted his head, pushing herself up to her feet as well. "You were sleeping for so long, I didn't want you to miss out on the daylight, its easier to see during the day." nods her head, and clambers back to the edge of the nest as heavier footfalls could me heard approaching.

"Exactly," Twincast's voice said from the side of them, his red claw extending to offer the seeker an Energon cube. "Best to tour caves in the light."

Starscream
Crimson optics flickered dully briefly before Starscream registered the presence of the energon cube and eagerly consumed it. He would miss this part of living in their cave, but at least he would have a cave of his own in which to recharge comfortably. "Today?" he asked after he finished eating, remembering they had been waiting for the rocks and ground to dry for Twincast to more easily traverse the mountains to help him find a cave of his own.

Twincast
"The ground is dry and the rocks have traction," Twincast explained, lowering himself to sit down once the cube was taken from his claw.
"Perfect time to show you the cave I was talking about. if you're up to it."
Twincast was perfectly pleasant, respect in his voice every time he talked to Starscream.

[A Hard Lesson In Single Parenthood]

Starscream
The last several weeks were...a nightmare. Starscream had always had many reasons to hate himself, but now that was accompanied by the feeling of being the stupidest mech alive. Just once couldn't hurt, huh? He could trust Twincast, hmm? What harm could come of letting him in, huh? What could possibly go wrong, hmm? He had an answer to each one of those questions waiting for him back at his cavern in the mountains - four tiny bundles of claws and beaks, two of which looked far too much like Twincast for Starscream's liking.

As if that was not bad enough, he was now trapped in an utter nightmare - raising them by himself. Twincast had called him a defect, had said no one other than a glitched mech would Spark as the result of just one night with another. That was the last Starscream heard from him - all timid peeks into Twincast's cavern turned up fruitless, and it did not take a genius to figure out that the blue mech was avoiding him.

So, thoroughly humiliated and self-loathing, Starscream wanted nothing more than to leave the mountains altogether, feeling filthy and used every time he settled down to rest in his own cave since that was where Twincast took him, but...he had sparklings to worry about now, and winter was rapidly approaching. As young and as small as they were, they would die in this land's cold winter without the shelter of the cave, so Starscream begrudgingly admitted defeat - he would find a new home in the spring.

Right now though, they needed to be fed as did he, and that was where Starscream found himself currently - in the grasslands trying to hide amongst the tall grasses enough to capture the deer he had been watching for the last ten minutes. If stalking it didn't work, Starscream would simply take it from the air. It would be plenty for the sparklings' tiny fuel tanks and fusion generators to process, and he could eat the remainder.

Jazz
Things for Jazz were... well, fine, perfect, as they usually were. The arrival of more of his Eobot friends certainly had a hand in his good mood, and while it was not everyone of Jazz's friends back on Cybertron, Jazz was confident that more of them would come if they just waited.
He also found that there new organic home was a very pleasant place, the more he saw of it, the more fond he started to grow of it.

But, while he admired this new and very different world, his spark still had a fond connection to that of Cybertronian origins, namely his fellow Cybertronian.
Jazz liked making friends, he liked having friends, and he liked keeping friends, even if some were not nearly as easy to get along with as others. One in particular his possessor kept bringing up, the grumpy seeker who never seemed to let anyone close to him, something Jazz wondered about of course, though the most pressing thought he was hoping to have answered someday, is where the seeker was. Why.... it was last winter since Jazz had seen Starscream, he wondered if he was okay, still getting into trouble.

it was the most fascinating thing in his current life, curiosity over Starscream... and yeah... a little worry.
but~ this of coerce did not take away from Jazz's favorite pastimes, Music~ and Dancing~
Jazz was thinking about going to check up on Twincast, not a very pleasant Mech sometimes, but interesting in his own way, and still an Eobot.
having no idea that anyone could be hunting in the aria, to focused on his music and he trotted smoothly over the soft grass.

Starscream
Starscream swore inwardly when he heard music. He knew who that had to be - who else could it be? He didn't have time to worry about that, however - the deer was getting nervous and ready to bolt. Either he pounced now or find something else, and it had taken him forever to find this one stupid animal.

With a shriek, Starscream leapt out of the grass and pounced onto the deer, the impact breaking its back immediately and giving him the time he needed to dig his talons into it and use his sharp beak to clamp down on its throat to finish it off. Primus he hated how messy these organic beasts were. It was going to take him hours to get all this blood out from under his talons.

Jazz
A registering spark in his helm spike alerted him of an unusual sound in the environment, picked up over his music, what was interesting about it though, was that there was a familiarity with that frequency and pitch.
heightening his sensors, and smoothly lowering the volume of his music. Jazz's optics flickers as they guided his visors functions though different procedures, framing lenses snapping over his eyes a couple of times to enhance the magnification.
not long after he started scanning, he uncovered the location the noise originated from, and or course, large white and red wings sticking up into the air from the back of a like colored seeker.
Starscream.

A few more snaps of his lenses followed his mild surprise, it really had been a long time since he saw Starscream.
hitching on his usual friendly grin, he continued forward, getting within' hearing distance before he finally called out to him,
"Yo, survived the winter alright I see."

Starscream
Starscream jerked slightly when he heard Jazz call to him, but, really, he should have expected that. Still, he didn't have time to sit and endure his presence - not today. His sparklings hadn't eaten since that morning since he was nearly running on empty after feeding them the night before when they emerged from their boxes. If he didn't feed them soon, they could get sick or even die, and despite the fact that they were a complete accident, he did not want that.

"Yes, I did," Starscream hissed in response as he lifted his head from the grass to glare at Jazz.

[The Cloud's Silver Lining]

Starscream
The night was long and stressful with scared sparklings huddling around their matre and squealing in terror at every howl of the wind past the entrance of their cavern. On the bright side, their fear kept the sparklings from trying to venture outside like they usually did at night, and it was just as well - the entire cave entrance was coated with ice and snow.

The storm had dissipated by the morning, and Starscream stepped outside to stretch his wings, frowning at all the snow and ice surrounding their home. Still, snow or not, he needed to hunt. He was stockpiling the energon for if there was a true blizzard that lasted several days, so as long as he was able to hunt, he was going to. After all, it was not as if energon could rot like meat did.

Starscream stretched his wings again and started down the mountain, hovering most of the way so as not to slip on the icy rocks.

Jazz
Jazz was right about one thing, the storm had hit fast, fast and hard. He was usually inside when a storm like this hit, or, on the more daring days, out in the forest or the fields and trying his luck and skill against the snow build up.
He had never experiences a storm in the mountains though, and he was quickly starting to see a dramatic difference in the natural event’s fearsome attitudes.
It was Jazz’s misfortune… that he would find himself, trapped in the middle of the raging ice and wind.
Due to having to cut down on his energon portions, his abilities were not up to par as they usually were.
Had he been in a more fit condition, he would have managed to escape from the storm with ease, something like this was not a problem for Jazz of course. But due to having to cut down on his energon portions, his abilities were not up to par as they usually were.
He made sure to keep his energy levels as a healthy performance, he was not going to get sick, or lose function from the amount he was intaking. But apparently… it had more of an effect on his performance then he had expected. He realized that a little too late as the storm started to really bear down on him.
He didn’t slow however, pushing forward, keeping his visor setting to high as he pounced from bolder to bolder, making his way down as quickly as he could.

“YOW!” he barked in surprise when one of the large rocks below his claw suddenly collapsed under the pressure.
Everything around his visor blurred as the snow flared furiously around his staggering form, a lour roar from the slide of rock falling below him.

“Hn!” he grunted, gathering his balance, and skillfully jumping out of the chaos before he fell with the avalanche.
Beak parting slightly as he looked down at the fallen rocks, searching for a new route to continue down when the ground under his feet suddenly crumbled again.
Jazz squawked in alarm attempting to pounce away again. But his systems suddenly screamed with warming as he felt a great pressure crush into his lower spinal support.

Jazz tumbled down the mountain under a pile of rocks, and when he finally came to rest, his visor was shattered, and his body covered in dents and cracks. The white Mech laying still in the howling wind, offline, half buried in rock and snow.

The pointed horns of his dark helmet, and his curled claws were the only thing that managed to avoid being completely covered in the snow by the time morning came. Though his systems were still running softly, slowly melting the ice as it worked, he remained offline.

Starscream
The rock slide was easy enough to see and work his way around once Starscream stumbled upon it, and he was not quite sure what made him look at it more thoroughly, but it was easy enough to spot black metal glinting in the snow and ice, and Starscream's wings stiffened when he realized what it was.

Before he truly realized what he was doing, Starscream was digging through the ice and rocks to free the damaged mech, frowning at what he saw. Jazz's self-repair systems seemed to be working, but they were moving very slowly thanks to the cold. No, it simply would not do to leave him out.

Careful not to injure him even further, Starscream worked himself underneath Jazz until the white mech was settled between his wings. Once he was certain Jazz would not slide off, he started back to his cave. Internally, he was arguing with himself - what could he possibly be thinking taking in the mech like this?! Still...Jazz helped him - three times now. It was the least Starscream could do to return the favor.

Jazz
The Tiny white Femme was very cold, huddled underneath the many blankets and fabric with her siblings, balled up very close to them for warmth. Normally she would be out playing with them, or crying for Matre at the sealed entrance of the cave when he left to go hunting, but the storm last night had been very scary, and very cold, and it had been very difficult to sleep. Exhausted and uncomfortable, the femme tried to get as much sleep as she could. Not wanting to leave the comfort of the nest.
She did stir however when she heard the familiar noises of their Matre returning home, Peeping in a whine to announce to Starscream her discomfort and distress. But not daring to come out of the blankets.

Jazz frame creaked a little, the metal making small popping noises as the heat and the cold mixed together, his systems working harder than they should have, trying to compensate for the chill, but he was in no immediate danger, the worse that had happened to him was his back hit, crushed slightly from the bolder. but his systems were paying close attention to that, it would take longer then it normally would have, due to the cold and the lack of energon needed for those kinds of functions.
his head lolled over one of Starscream's shoulders, his visible optics unlit, no movement in his slack features.

Starscream
Starscream frowned when he heard the distressed peep from one of his sparklings as he made his way back inside, but he doubted it was anything serious - most likely one of the femmes or the organic whining again, so he paid it little heed as he finished pushing aside the rocks he used to seal the entrance in his absence, careful not to let Jazz fall off of his back. He was quite surprised that the trek back up the mountain, his movements unsealing the cave entrance, and the noises the sparklings were making had not awakened Jazz. He must have been more badly injured than Starscream originally thought.

With a nudge of his beak, Starscream shooed away the more inquisitive sparklings so he could make his way fully into the cavern, and once he was sure no one was in the way, he let Jazz slide carefully down from his back and onto the cavern floor. Starscream glances around the cavern with another frown as he realized it was not very warm, the storm having sucked away most of the warmth more quickly than usual. Still, that was easily remedied. After making himself comfortable on the cave floor with his back feet pointed toward Jazz, Starscream activated his turbines. Vorns of practice and expert control enabled him to cut off the flames so only a manageable wave of heat wafted from his thrusters. It was noisy, but it would warm up the cavern quickly, Jazz even quicker since Starscream's turbines were pointed toward him.

[August 2009 Metaplot]

PJ
Soundless and swift, something moved from branch to branch in the trees above. A black, metal Eoghan landed softly as he jumped out of the trees to the ground below, his body low to the ground. PJ couldn't help it; for stellar-cycles he had trained as a Cyber Ninja, and stealth was his trade. Raising his head, he let the wind pass by his olfactory sensors- they detected nothing out of the ordinary, though he did have to admit that the uncomfortable pulses that surged through his processor every now and again had been embarassingly distracting.

Not that he had been assigned to scout ahead. He simply felt more comfortable knowing someone had before setting out, and took it upon himself to do so. From what PJ could determine, nothing in the forest seemed amiss, even though he had not gone in too far. At least, not in the small section they had to cross in order to reach the grasslands. Turning his head towards the sky, his visor reflected sharply in a miniscule ray of light that had made its way past both the leaves above, and the cloud-cover in the sky. From what he could determine by its position, the group back at the Post Office would probably be heading out soon.

Though under different circumstances he may take his time back, PJ headed back into the trees and sped back towards the others. To say that he had adapted well to Earth's environment would be an understatement; by his standards he was thriving. The calm serenity, the natural powers, the delicate chain of surival- he found it all fascinating and beautiful. Before he knew it he was out of the trees and back on the sloping hill that lead to the Post Office's backyard. A thin fog hung in the air at that altitude, but this didn't bother him. He had other things to focus on. He approached a small group of Eoghan- both mech and organic among them- who seemed to keep company with the young human female who ran the Post Office. Being the first thing he saw that registered even slightly as "authority", he stopped before them, his head held high. "An initial re-con of the forest perimeter indicates no detectable threats."

Starscream
A derisive snort came from Starscream where he paced in short, tight circles on the ground, not at all comfortable with being grounded the way he was. He could have easily made it to where they were headed by midday, but Primus frag it all, he had to stick with this group of inferiors made up primarily of groundlings because his sparklings were part of it. "Of course there isn't," he hissed. "What is there to be threatening on this Primus forsaken mudball of a planet?" His hostility was more a front than anything meant to be taken seriously, angry with having to trek on the ground as well as tense from the burning in his processor and having seen the absolute last mech he wished to. It was a sure sign that Primus hated the seeker: Twincast was going to be a part of the investigation as well, and once again, if it were not for Harmony, Suncast, and Cornelius, Starscream would have left long ago.

Soundwave lifted his head haughtily at Starscream's grousing. "Starscream: foolish," he declared in his harmonic tones, and he allowed himself a micron of satisfaction that his comment made the irate mech stop in his pacing to glare at him. "Observation: disturbance in processors not ceased despite time elapsed. Conclusion: unknown source of explosion clearly a threat."

The black and red pygmy mech at Soundwave's feet was quick to chirp before the naked rage he saw on Starscream's face could reach the surface, "Don't start, 'ya two - don't! Fer Primus' sake, we ain't even left yet, an' yer already at each other's vocals?!" He let his tension relax just a little when Starscream merely snarled and resumed his pacing and Soundwave looked away somewhat sheepishly. This...was going to be a long trip.

Tori
One of PJ's ears rotated slightly in the three Deceptighans' direction, though he made no other sign of having heard the snarkier of their comments.

Tori sighed. This was going to be a LONG trip. It was true that if she flew straight there it would cut her travel time greatly. But without knowing what exactly was going on nor trusting her traveling companions enough to not get into a fight, that probably wasn't the best of ideas. "The humans say there was an explosion. But I haven't smelt anything funny..." In retrospect that was a silly thing to say. They were quite a distance away from the northern mountain, after all.

"Matre!" Suncast squealed as she spotted Starscream. Breaking away from the group, she hurried over to the cranky red mech, though not without blowing a raspberry at Soundwave as she passed him. "I'm so glad you're coming!" she said as she trotted up to Starscream, her eyes sparkling with adoration.

Bumblebee smacked his forehead with his paw. Sometimes he couldn't even believe that Starscream and Suncast were related.

Soundwave
Soundwave leaned back slightly with a surprised flicker of his visor at what the little one did at him when she passed. He usually prided himself on how well he got along with younglings of all species, but...then again, this one was Starscream's. The poor creature.

Temporarily relieved that the tension level had died down somewhat, Frenzy took the opportunity to step over to Tori and Bumblebee, catching the end of Tori's comment. "'Ya organic Eos can smell that far away?" he asked, impressed.

Starscream stopped pacing again when he was approached by his offspring, his beak turned down in a disapproving frown. "I'm still not happy about your insistence on coming here," he made sure to point out even though he knew it was hopeless at this point with three of his sparklings, biological or otherwise, bound and determined to see this through to the end.

Cornelius, the organic one Starscream found with his dead matre at the foot of the mountains when he was little more than a week online, peeked around his adopted matre's leg when he heard one of his sisters approach, relaxed by being around more familiar Eoghans. The large strangers all over the area frightened him, having barely left the safety of their cavern other than to stretch his legs and wings. "Hey," he chirped softly to Suncast, not yet brave enough to completely leave his matre's side and investigate the others present.

Suncast
Catching Suncast's moment of brattiness out of the corner of her eyes, Tori giggled, though she didn't know what was funnier; the fact that it was directed at Soundwave, or the blue mech's reaction to it.

Suncast moved her tiny robotic wings up and down, letting them clack softly against each other rhythmically. "But Matre, this could be exciting! And what if we miss a fight?" Ever the tomboy, Suncast had her priorities. She was certainly the polar opposite of her sister, Harmony. Before Starscream could respond, she looked around him to her adopted brother, Cornelius. "Heya, Corny! What're you doin' here?" Come to think of it, she'd never seen him this far from their cavern.

Meanwhile, Tori had turned her attention to Frenzy. She shrugged; "Well, sometimes if the wind is blowing in the right direction we can..." She scratched her beak with a claw- a nervous habit she wasn't even aware she had. "But there hasn't been much wind today, so it's kind of a no-go."

PJ's ears tilted back. She was right... given the amount of fog that still lingered, it was safe to assume that there hadn't been much wind that day- even when he was in the forest. Given that such a huge storm had rolled through the night before, this seemed odd.

"Even if we could smell something, I don't know if it would do us much good. Burnt stuff smells like burnt stuff no matter what it was!" Having lived with Mazo for some time, the yellow mech had unfortunately come to know well what a variety of things burning smelt like. Most of them being food.
