everyone is now equal and that the rukongai districts are being taken care of more
than ever'. pssh, downright lie right there. it's not like seireitei - the place behind me -
aren't full of elitist nobles

Soul Society. A place where the dead souls come up. Soul Society is based much like feudal Japan wherein the souls dress up in traditional kimonos, the houses created like traditional Japanese houses in order to house these souls with everything available to them be it shelter or food. Then again, these souls don't need food, they don't ever feel hunger but there are some exceptions to this; those with high reiatsu/spiritual power. These eventually become Shinigami.

The Shinigami are basically the 'protectors' of the place. What was once called Seireitei, surrounded by an impenetrable wall, is the home of these Shinigami though now the wall as well as the barrier were destroyed and nobles' ranks were dropped. Equality was set by the current so-taicho, Amamiya Saiko, one of the few who managed to survive the great war just recently. While Soul Society is desperately trying to get back to their former glory, the Shinigami have changed a lot of things here and there and this equality thing is just the first step.

Yes, there was a great war years back; a war between the Hollows [particularly the Arrancars] and the Shinigami. The war has ended but everything was in ruin; most of the citizens were safe but Rukongai itself was badly damaged, having to build new houses. That wasn't the problem, though. Oh, no, the problem was the number of Shinigami left - very few in number. Hence, they decided to re-do the ranks of the Gotei into eight. The former so-taicho was long gone and replacing him was Amamiya Saiko - eccentric but powerful. He was the one who ordered the breaking down of the wall and he, too, was the one who ordered for the equality among the souls.

Of course, not everyone abides these rules. If that were the case there would be no trouble in Soul Society. But there is and it's getting worse. Not to mention there have been more and more reports of Hollow sightings in both the human world and Soul Society. What could possibly be causing the trouble?

ON EARTH : leading to soul society [not a stage]
- - - upon death, there will be something that will tie a soul to the human world, a chain
showing this. said chain will eventually burn up, leaving a hole hence, turning into a HOLLOW

- - - you wander around as a soul until a shinigami comes in and performs 'soul burial', a way
to get the soul into soul society by the use of a zanpakuto

xxxxWell now, seems like you've stumbled into Soul Society and into Rukongai, a place that's designed just like feudal Japan with all the houses and clothes - yes, as in kimonos and yukatas and such. Your character pretty much appear in a random area of Rukongai all the way from the thirtieth district to the first. There used to be more but apparently the last war wiped out some land when their fight moved to Soul Society. The shinigami don't have the funds to support that many districts so it got smaller. There's East and West Rukongai, by the way.

xxxxThis is the stage where you establish your character's background information such as how they died in the past, how they got to Soul Society, how they're living, they're so-called 'family', etcetera etcetera. This is also where everything starts and, sooner or later, your character will become hungry [after completing the other quests, of course]. Hunger = high reiatsu. Apparently, that's true.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx2nd stage : academy student

xxxxAh, the shinigami academy! A place to train all young spirits on how to be a shinigami - as well as teaching them all the need-to-knows from combat, to using kido to soul burial and the like. Whichever the academy deems you best at [combat,stealth,kido,etc] and/or you find interesting will be what division you'll be placed in upon graduation. To get to graduating, however, will be your problem seeing these won't be petty tasks anymore but rather, there will be some out-of-field lessons ... a.k.a. real-live combat, with real Hollows and a real environment. Oh, of course, there will be training. The so-taicho doesn't want his future shinigami to be all killed now, doesn't he? He just likes poking fun at them.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx3rd stage : shinigami

xxxxUpon graduating from the academy, you will find yourself placed in a squad, the basis of which is whatever subjects you took in the academy. Ah, a shinigami, the goal of all academy students and look at that! You're now one. But, of course, the missions you have to take on are far more dangerous and far more complicated than the others: you are now to take missions either by yourself, with a chosen few or even your entire squad. Squad missions are necessary for the movement of the plot of the store. Further information on the missions and the like will come later in a different post. This is the final stage ... for whoever wishes to NOT be a captain and all.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx4th stage : captain/vice captain [rare. ultra rare]

xxxxRemember when I said the Shinigami was the final stage? Yeah, well ... I lied. Okay, technically, yes, it's the final stage upon normal means. Normal means = tasks and stuff. To get up to this level [captain/vice-captain], one needs to be very active. Like waaay active. You know, that many people know you already, you get along well with everyone and your character is just pure love. Of course, the basic requirements would be having a bankai at hand but you can't get that unless we say so ... and tell you about it. So yes.

xxxxSo how do we go about this? Well, the so-taicho will put up a voting thing by the squad members. Whoever wins, gets the spot. Of course, we'll put up candidates. We can't just have anyone, right?

arrancars will most probably be available but AFTER a while and, by the way, are special
characters not to be sold through normal means ... aka flatsales. they'll have their own
stages to be drawn and explained later.
