Personality: Short-tempered, egotistical, and abrasive, Starscream is not well-liked by many. He considers himself the king of the skies as one of the few remaining mechs with the ability to fly, and he never hesitates to show off his prowess in the clouds nor does he pass up an opportunity to brag about his expertise so he can garner the envy and jealousy of all the ground-bound mechs.
However, Starscream himself is rather a paradox - despite his constant stroking of his own ego and his never ending prying of the attention of others, he does not appreciate being in the spotlight for a great length of time, nor does he like attracting too much attention. He is distrustful of everyone around him and feels he can only count on himself. Anyone who shows him positive attention only wants something from him, so he is constantly on the defense, hissing at anyone who so much as looks at him the wrong way. As such, it is no wonder he is always alone.
His temper only grew worse during his time as a Deceptighan under the tyrannical Megatron. Starscream became obsessed with overthrowing the beastly commander at any cost, hungry for power as well as to better his own situation so he would no longer have to answer to those in positions of greater power than himself. However, once they crashed on Earth, and he lost the last two years of his memories, his lust for power disappeared as he no longer had anyone to follow but himself. Now that Megatron and Prime have resurfaced and the Eotronians are beginning to get back on their talons and make Earth their new home, only time will tell how Starscream will fare in the face of all this change.
Background: Millions of years ago, Starscream was once a prestigious scientist on Eotron. An explorer and a xenologist, he ventured to a great variety of planets studying their native life, atmospheres, and environment for his degree in xenology in the famous Iacon Science Academy. He was hated by many for being arrogant and screechy, but he didn't care - he loved his work, and his partner, a large mech named Skyfire, was all he needed. As far as he was concerned, his life was complete...
Until Skyfire disappeared.
They were exploring a young, organic world when they separated to explore different portions of the planet, and Starscream lost contact with Skyfire. He searched everywhere, hemisphere to hemisphere, pole to pole, but he could not find his friend. He did not give up his search until he finally had to leave the planet or risk running out of energy halfway home. He told himself he would gather a rescue team to come back with him and find Skyfire, but he didn't anticipate everyone's dislike of him - no help was to be found simply because Starscream was asking for it, and he was soon expelled from the Academy. Devastated, Starscream could only try to move on, and eventually, he enlisted in the War Academy - and not a day too soon. The war began halfway through his schooling - his scientific prowess was valuable, and his experience in the War Academy made him even more sought after. Remembering his rejection and humiliation at the claws of the Science Academy was all the incentive Starscream needed to side with the Deceptighan cause. He would show them...
Unfortunately, as the war progressed, Eotron rapidly deteriorated until it was no longer inhabitable, and when the Eobots fled with their solar energy collector, the Deceptighans were quick to follow. However, they crashed on the planet called Earth, and most of those in the crash lost their memories of the last two years. With his memories restored and the Ark inhabitable again and run by the newly-rediscovered Optimus Prime, Starscream's future is once again uncertain, but he's determined to trudge through it. It's not as if an uncertain future is uncharted territory.
Strengths: With his background as a scientist, Starscream is a very smart mech, capable of making split-second analyses and decisions as well as interpret and understand almost any problem. He's also a survivor - through sheer will and determination, he managed to drive himself through all of the hurdles life has thrown him from his expulsion from the Academy to fighting his way up the Deceptighan ranks to surviving by himself with almost half a dozen sparklings to take care of on a foreign planet. His determination is what carries him through tough times - he'll make it through a situation or die trying.
Weaknesses: While he's intensely smart when it comes to algorithms, chemicals, and zoology, Starscream can be downright stupid when it comes to social interaction. For as distrustful and hostile as he is in an attempt to keep others from trying to get close to him, it's very easy to catch him off guard with the right comments or actions, and once he's caught off guard, it takes him a while to recover. He gets flustered easily, especially when complimented because his vanity is entirely an act. He thinks so little of himself and his appearance, one can easily get him to lower his guard by praising him - thus how Twincast was able to trick him so easily.

_____[-] Bumblebee: His unflappable optimism can really grate Starscream's circuits if he's not in the right mood to be around it, but at least he isn't an in-your-face optimist like some can be. For that, Starscream is thankful. Still, he'll avoid being around Bumblebee whenever he can.

_____[-] Jazz: He...confuses Starscream. As the first mech Starscream encountered after the long and painful fleeing of Cybertron, Jazz never ceases to confound him. No matter Starscream's attitude fluctuations, and no matter how much Starscream tries to push him away, Jazz still continues to surprise him by refusing to hate him and, in fact, actually welcoming Starscream's presence. Because of this, Starscream often wonders about Jazz's sanity.

_____[-] Rosanna: Her mere existence is still shocking to Starscream. Pygmies were exceptionally rare on Cybertron, especially femmes, but the fact that one survived leaves Starscream to wonder just what the possibilities are of not being the only living seeker anymore. He might actually want to get to know her if only she did not live with Twincast...

_____[-] Twincast: Starscream thought he had met a mech who would not make him feel like the scum so many others called him. He thought he found one who appreciated his talent in the skies as well as his brilliant mind. However, Twincast only succeeded in using Starscream to his own end and confirming the seeker's suspicions that anyone who shows him positive attention only wants something from him. Unfortunately, Starscream realized it too late, and now he has his hatchlings as constant, painful reminders of the horrible mistake he made: opening himself to Twincast.
